It's a huge waste of space in my opinion. Not to mention people who use low-grade comps will complain and more than half the people who play the game won't follow the tutorial.

Did you read what i say? :S
You guys just have to do it yourself and then upload the edited file(s) so people just have to download it, nothing more. If you explains that you can get better sound in the game by following a link, im pretty sure all fans of the map is going to do that. All might not do it but maybe some people and all they have to do is to DL a file.

No, 1 model = 10 KB. 200 models = 200 X 10 KB = 2000 KB = 2MB. With textures, that's about an extra of, at most, 1 MB. And even if we do go over, we have the Optimizer at hand. No idea what region of your ass you pulled 10 MB from...

And I said only 150 models ATM, ignoring the fact that we can use ingame models for some of the Pokemon as well.

forget it by now. gold/silver = dream of urs

Man, an pokemon map must have pokemon musics/sounds! Think about it...

You enter in a battle! While chosing the attacks, you hear the junglish Night Elf X1.

You enter in a battle! While chosing the attacks, you hear the glorius Pokemon Battle music! da daaa dada daa daa daa...

While in a city, you stops a while and hear the epic Arthas Song.

While in a city, you stops a while and hear the awesome Eternia City Music.

The music just give an completely new atmosphere to the map, and gives an more professional feel.
agree. in single player it must have music. in multiplayer probably not...but...we can give it a try.

Bulbasaur is almost finished. i cant give screenshots of the animations, so ur only seeing the model when finished.
animated GIFs are a bunch of work just to make a crappy preview.
i myself say they look great.

Well, since i have read some tutorials about Game Cache,, and i have to disappoint you,,
Game cache in Multi Player will be deleted after the game, only in SinglePlayer games it will be kept,, or something like that at least,, so we have to use code, OR no multiplayer,,

Of course. codes may be annoying or easily hacked or mistaken, but they are needed.
talk to people about codes, how to simplify two characters into one, things like that, that can make the code smaller and prevent hacking.
If/Then/Else makes it pretty possible, although a bit tedious to make.
Remember that "a" differs from "A", that makes a thousand possibilities of simplifying.

WarCraft Budokai Forum -> Models that should be remove..
people distributing my "fucking public models"
reading this got me a bit pissed off.

Cockroach that sounds like a bunch of trouble over nothing. He said he was sorry and that he just wanted to hear it from you, not someone else. Lol...

You talk like my mother.
Cockroach got pissed, i would also get pissed when that happened to me.
No freaking reason to upload models on a site when it already exists in another, right? If its uploaded on hive, give a link to hive and not upload it yourself. I would never upload a model somewhere unless they say in the model discription that its fine to upload it on other sites as long as i credit the creator or have permision. I dont think i would upload a model somewhere else at all since there is not reason at all to do so...

You may have both options.
when you save you create the cache file and the code is shown.
when you type:

-load as0#8d7as7$%b0a9s#7d&af
you load such code

-load (as an exact match)
you load the cache

if you ever want to play in multiplayer mode, you will have to memorize the code before playing and then after, to pass it to single player again.
thats practical. and neat.

Just so you guys know.
Using cache is not so good. People can easily edit the cache & people can give away their caches.
You can also mess up the cache by looking up the maps codes and create a cache folder using the same name and edit the variables stright from another map that is not related at all.
Codes might be "easy" to "hack" but its even easier when using caches.

But yeah, having codes in single player is not an option at all so i would suggest cache anyway. Its easy like hell to use and people wont even bother trying to "hack" it i guess.

I'll stay far from these triggers, I suck at them. I'll stick with my quests.

Oh My God! The <blah blah blah> team kidnapped your mother! Rescue her!

Quest: Mommy!

Objective: Go to the <...> team "outpost" and defeat all the members, get the key and free your mother!

thats not a good quest HFR.
you know...cliches...they happen sometimes.
this one is hugely boring and simple.

I have a suggestion
6 big quests:
1 about a mysterious and smart cubone
1 about an almighty gyarados
1 about a prehistoric lost kabutops
1 about a talking persian that is highly deceiving
1 about a haunter (many interesting quests available)
1 about a kangaskhan tribe
1 about an enourmous dragonite
----
our favorite pokemons! =D
then, when all of them are complete, there may be an intersection between them - the ultimate battle - not the league one.

Ok them:

During your travels, you encounters a lil' Cubone with IQ 250. He asks to you (yep, he speaks!) help him with an task.

Quest: He's smarter than me!

Objective: Defeat the Cubone in a quiz game. He make the questions, you answer by typing them. If you win, he gives to you a <insert not so rare item name here>

It's the first.

These 6 pokemon (not the pokemon-types) should be someway special.

like...your crossing the Crap Canyon...
A mysterious Cubone appears.
*he takes your backpack and searches among your items*
you fight him. You are defeated.
*he leaves without stealing nothing from you.*
(he was certainly looking for a specific item.)
Then you will talk to people that heard about the mysterious Cubone, and you figure out he stole many flutes from the towsfolk.
You find out that he's searching for a special flute.
You will find him again in another place using a flute, waiting a little time and throwing it away. Then he will feel threatened and will fight you.

Again he will search your inventory.
You will finally find him in a grove, where a kid will carry a flute.
The kid says that this is the magical flute his mother gave him.
The cubone wants it. Then you will fight with the Cubone

- if you win, you stay with the flute as a reward for saving the kid.
- if you lose, the kid ran away safely and still has the flute. (you can try again)

This flute is used to call Dragonite, but you will find out later.

This is thrilling, this is epic.
not a stupid quiz.

Ok. I'll think of it later.

Ok, the Gyarados one:

While you're in Gwarfahar Lake, a old man comes to you and says that those waters are inhabited by an immense creature, that sink the boats of the fishermans. Now, you'll gonna investigate.

Quest: The Creture from the Depths

Objective: Find out what's happening to the lagoon before the village's economy fails.

Quest details: After hearing what the old man said, you eneter in an house and find a fisherman. He tells you that they can't fish anymore, because the creature is sinking all the boats and the village's economy is broken. After this, you go to the lake and soon find that the creature is a lvl 80 Gyarados. Of course, you battle him. Of course, you lose. After the lost, you find that he isn't a normal Gyarados. He's imbued with an might power, that corrupted his soul. The village wiser man tells you that this powerful magic can only be dispelled by an ancient artifact. Now you have to find it. After traveling for hours across the
forest, you find an ancient temple. You enter there, and battle with Rock and Poison pokemons. After crossing an passage, you find TEH boss. A <I have to repeat?> team member is stealing the artifact! Defeat him, return to the lake and use the artifact. Now the Gyarados will calm down, and stop attacking the boats. After this, the old man appears and thanks you for saving the village, picking the artifact and leaving.

But, wait, you did all this work and you don't gain nothing? No, because the Gyarados is now avaliable for capture! And it holds an <insert random rare item here>.

Ps: After the "unrage" the Gyarados is weaker than before, so, his level isn't 80 anymore.

This is what I call epicness.

I like it. HFR, good job, this is epic indeed.
about gyarados being captured....not sure. you know why?
These pokemon are gonna be our enemies in the ultimate battle of the map!
but i dunno what would replace it better. it is awesome the way it is...

For Dragonite...
you go into a lighthouse in the beach with the Cubone's magical flute. There you will find a crazy man laying in the sand. He talks about the most beautiful creature in the world. This creature lies inside the seas, and it has an aura of peace and tranquility. And he says that it will only come out with the most beautiful of the songs. If you have the flute, you will be reminded that you can use it in order to create such sound. But you would need Cubone to blow it. so, you will need to capture a Cubone (or Marowak) and make it play the song. Then, this creature will come out of the sea, being Dragonite, but not as peaceful as you thought. If you defeat it, it will swim outwards, then, you will be reminded that with a SURFING pokemon you can follow the Dragonite. you will reach a small island with a cave (not reachable freely surfing). This is the only place where you can find wild Dratini's! Also some items can be found. when your already in the island, Dragonite gets too far to be reached and you lose its trail.
If you don't defeat Dragonite, it will be able to fly fast, since it will be ok. You won't be able to follow it.

I dunno, it sounds quite simple, but it is thrilling when playing, most likely.

The webmaster said he was sorry, didn't know that Cockroach didn't want them there (because Cockroach never told him), and was completely understanding that Cockroach wanted them off his site. He then followed up by taking them off his site.

I don't see why you guys get pissed off at stupid things.

The other webmaster sounded like a real douche though.

What's next? I'll do Kangaskhan!

You're traveling in the woods, seeing your 3 badges, when, sudently, a Kangaskhan appears and starts running in circles. You're confused, and, again, will investigate.

Quest: The Burning Steppes

Objective: Save the tribe!

Quest Details: You decide to investigate, and after some walk following the Kangaskhan, you see that the Aywan Forest, home of the Kanghaskan tribe, is on fire! You'll have to be fast, quickly search for an river or lake! You found a lake! But, wait, you don't any bucket or giant pool... You have to find an city. In this exact time, an counter starts and

HINT: It's a good time to save your game!

You have only 5 minutes! Quickly crossing the forest, you arrives in Silverplate city, home of the next Gym. But you don't have enough time, so you warn some people, and they run to the forest, trying to save the pokemons. After a hard work, the fire is over, and you follow your path. But, before arriving at Silverplate, an giant machine appears, and, guess what?, the <...> team mad cientist blames you for ending the fire. Now, you simply battle him. Defeated, the cientist Fire Machine is destroyed, and he dies (or flees). The Kangaskhan Tribe thanks you, and gives a HM. But you need to defeat the Silverplate Gym Leader to use it.

That's not very good...
the final relation between you and the pokemon in concern must be some hostility, so it has some sense that you fight with this pokemon in the end.
this way, 'saving the tribe' will leave no reason for a fight between you and the Kangaskhan.

Also, ur idea is way too dynamic. It should take more time, to make the player be more concerned about it.

But it's good u realized that small ideas make small maps.

maybe drawing can help you...you can draw the place, this will give you many ideas...
the requirements for every quest is:
- quests should take time
- the remaining relation should be hostile
- it should involve a bit of riddle, or make the player think a little bit
- only persian should speak... xD
- highly recommended not to involve third parties in these ultimately main quests, like the <shit> team lulz

the pokemons personalities, therefore the quests style, are:
- kabutops: investigation mostly, to crave the fossiles and wuteva
- kangaskhan: task fulfilling, since they are a tribe, but you should disappoint them in the end (they should be hostile in the end)
- haunter: should involve fear, therefore a bunch of investigation, talking to people, use the surprise effect a lot.
- persian: it should persoad you to do tasks with its deceiving power and human language. he won't give you directly the rewards. the final event of the quest should involve persian's betrayal.
- cubone: already done. the magical flute thing. involves mystery and fits cubone individual personality. I give it 4/5
- gyarados: already done. the artifact to make it calm down. fits its almighty personality. I would give it 5/5, if the hostility parameter was fulfilled... but then, 4/5
- dragonite: already done. the flute usage. i like it a lot. 5/5
- kangaskhan: IMO, needs to be remade, since it involves the <blah> team and is of a happy ending. other than that, it'd be 4/5

this is my opinion. since model is my shit, unfortunately. xD

Just so you know, HappyCockroach, even before you started doing models, we were going to have Gold/Silver Pokemon. Whether or not you make the models for them, they're going to be included.

And finally someone makes sense. It does seem to be a waste of time implementing sounds, as En_Fuego said in agreement. If there's a heap of space left over, then we include it. Also, I don't like the sound of having to do a midi trick to hear something in Warcraft. Sounds tedious :(

The code doesn't have to be so hackable or transferable....
why not include a patch of the code that includes the player name? that should make it non transferable.
Then doing some mathmatical function on the actual code could give you a small code that you could tack on just to make sure that if it is edited the game will pick it up.
sooooo you could have the code as 547935436 we could do something like add, minus: 5-4+7-9+3-5+4-3+6= 4 which could be tacked on to become 5479354364

well just an idea, but perhaps your on to something. Maybe we can incorporate ideas from MEGAMAN battlenetwork...let me explain.

in megaman battlework 4 blue moon, u had to do special tasks to continue throught the tournements to fight those certain navi's ( like journiing throught the undernet to get protoman )

so if you designate certain tasks and associate them with special pokemon... for example, dratini is found in a secret colony. To reach the secret colony you have to beat some trainers that will give you information on where it is. and then once you defeat the last one, he will tell you to fish at a lake, where you encounter a STRONG dratini...the dratini itself is a boss as well. This will be the only dratini that is stronger than any other that u can find thereafter ( he could be a shining dratini =D )

but you get my point ??

Yeah, I see your point there, Deathunter, it's fairly intriguing, actually. Playing through Pokemon Shiny Gold (a rom hack of Fire Red), it's interesting to see that some of the things recently implemented are kind of irritating (I'm used to the old style game). However, perhaps instead of having it that beating a certain trainer gives you information on the whereabouts of a new area, you gain access to where ever that trainer is blocking (sort of like... every other Pokemon game :p). Like a Team Clown Grunt is blocking your way to the area you have to reach in order to be able to go to the Gym. That was done in R/B/Y in Cerulean City. Things like that must be implemented.

no no, the save code can only be used in the one campain mode, hence including the name.
I see what your talking about about multiple varients to get the same answer, but teh whole idea is that it shouldnt be too easy to figure out, i felt it was better to be ambigous to solve that problem, however keeping it to 1 digit is obviously not a solution with a proper sized code
I love the idea of symbols and if you were really bored, you could make it near unbreakable with out inside knowledge just by adding a letter to say the next lot of numbers is 5 higher or something

Just a couple of questions;

What sort of damage system will be used? aka water > fire > grass (fire type using fire = x1.5dmg, water against ground/rock = x4 dmg, etc)

What's gonna be done about pokemon abilities? Will they be learned like hero abilities or will there be a special system for that?

A hero can only have four abilities so im pretty sure that they will make a system, its not hard at all to make a system that replace abilitie when you want to learn.

When i worked on my pokemon stadium map long ago i made everything in trigger, all the pokemons could do was walking.
I used the cinematic and then made a text where i could choose what to do just like Pokemon stadium, press up/down left/right to move around, A and D button to continue or go back in the menu.
So you can actually make it even if the pokemon doesnt have the abilitys at all :p

Ok. I was thinking of an haunted tower but... He's your pokemon.

Wazzz: It wasn't me that mentioned an "Kangaskhan Tribe". I t was HC. And I never played Oblivion...

Ok, as HC made my Cuby, it's my time to do Persian!

In Hundrel City, you're searching for the Gym, and you encounters an mysterious mansion. You, of course, enters it. It's an big mansion fulfilled with dozens of stairs, bookshelves and a big table with an cup of milk in it. Walking across this strange place, you find a persian among the books of the library. And OMG! He's...

Quest: Another one?

Objective: Do the tasks!

Quest Details: He's reading! Approaching carefully,
(this can be an cinematic, ok?) you face the persian, and he says:
Persian: Hello, what do you want?
You: AHHHHH!!!!
P:What's up? Never saw a talking pokemon?
You: Of course not! This is impossible. I'm dreaming. Yes! This is just a dream, this isn't real!

The Persian uses Pawns of Fury at you!
Pwned!

P: You see? This is real!
You: Ok, it can even real, but it's strange... By the way, why do you can speak and read?
P: Cuz I'm smart!!

Another One? - Part 2:

You: Ok, you're smart... Just it?
P: No, maybe having an needing for talk can help.
Y: So, what's happened?
P An damned Meowth stole my girlfriend, just it. Just because he speak. So, I learned to speak too. For revenge!
Y: Whatever... You can tell me where's this city Gym.
P: Yep.
Y: Where?
P: Here! I'm the gym leader!
Y: WHAAAAAT???
P: Just kidding, the gym is closed, only I can enter. The leader spoke he don't like these pesky kids that want to defeat him.
Y: I NEED THOSE BADGES!!
P: Ok, ok... But you have to do things for me.
Y: I do EVERYTHING for ma' precious badges!
P: Argh, boy, you're worst than Gollum...
Y: What?
P: Forget it, first, I need moar milk. Go buy some.
Y: With my money?
O: Of course!

And so, you'll buy him the milk... Now, the Persian wants a ancient artifact to play. You go to some wizard-like house and tries to buy it. But the wizard says it's too precious to him, so, you want to battle.
After the battle, the Kadabra wasn't strong enough for your ULTRAPWNACHU. You take the artifact
(that later will be used by the persian to enrage the pokemons) and give to the Persian. He says that he doesn't have nothing to give, so, he asks for more tasks. You now have to remove an boulder in a passage, after doing this, blah blah blah...

Follow more tasks, no gifts. And, them...

You did exactly 3465 tasks to the Persian, and him, saying that is enough, tries to flee. And, you, as always, want to battle!
Da daaa dadada daaa daa dada daaa...

Persian uses Pawns of Fury!
It's Super Effective! (No matter if you're rock or fighting.
You're dead.

After this, the Persian flees though the window an you say:
I will hunt you to the ends of the Earth, you heard me? To the Ends of the EARTH!!!!

Last edited:
I like it in many ways, but the humor is not so humoristic...lol
about the rest, good job HFR...
Persian being a gym leader is really interesting.
but the tasks shouldnt be that random though...
persian should ask evil things to be done.
like...

"Team <shit> lately is interfeiring in my plans. That disturbs me. One officer has been spying me, what really bothers me. I want you to give him an end. Bring me his Team <shit> cape as a trophy."
he wants you to KILL, yes, kill, someone. but you don't want to do that. So, you will try to negotiate with the officer in order to just give you the cape and he can go. He won't like the idea. you battle him in a pokemon battle and say that if he loses, he should give you his cape, and if you lose, you give him a good money quantity. hes agree and you get his cape. and you tell him: "Be far away from Persian's Mansion"
then you give the cape to persian and hes very pleased:
"I need cold-blooded assassins like you for my team. You are in the right path. I just want to ask you a few more tasks."

-----blahhhh blah blah many tasks, many creepy tasks

when you get the badge, he runs away after betraying you, leaving a key accidentaly. then you go to the mansion's cellar and you find the real gym leader kidnapped. the badge was stolen. But the gym leader says that you deserved it, and you can keep it with you.
