try channel ability... that can be targeted on your self

or

you can try to

event
unit acquires an item
condition
item type of item beeing manipulated = to (Your item)
actions
order (a dummy unit) to cast (any skill that accomplishes your needs)

if the unit loses the item remove the buff

but i think it is a lot easier with channel (if you know how to handle it)

cmon that is one small trigger. Just create a dummy unit which casts the acid bomb...
That trigger has ~4 actions..

1. create unit
2. add abilty (you could give it anyway)
3. cast abilty
4. remove unit

That is the best and easiest way to do it.

AH I just got a better idea:

Add the "ring of regeneration" ability to that item with negative regeneration.
And add a "negative armour" bonus to the item.
