Parasite 3 v1.07

Description

A game of deception. Two randomly choosen players are selected to be an alien and a mutant, and the rest are human. Humans work together to figure out who among them is non-human and destroy them while the Alien and Mutant deceive the humans and kill them! The Mutant and Alien are not allies and must destroy each other as well.

Feature Highlights

- Alien and Mutant elements are able to disguise themselves as humans, creating an atmosphere of paranoia and mistrust.
- New Mutant player introduced to the series: a lone hunter that kills and absorbs players to acquire more power.
- Custom Chat system that allows players to communicate strickly to other nearby players only or to all players. Also features that allow you to disable long range chatting!
- Intricate use of various different items and weapons that offers a wide array of customization.
- Triggered projectile system requiring players to "point click" to use their weapons, adding a greater skill curb.

The message for teamkill is still bugged,it always shows red player as dying player (you can see it in attached replay,but don't change viewed player else it won't show game messages).
Except for that,
bureaulamp told me he couldn't activate some terminal abilities that require captain card even though he was captain. He received messages saying he's not authorized to do it (He tried to disable bomb vendor).

In attached replay you can also see how to spam link mines - watch red player from 6th min.

And umm..when i died in jail,my corpse was floating. I was standing near the edge of the bars though.

You can see all of these in attached replay.

Hello, Cronos look at this.
We have found another bug about parasites and people.
1. If you turn off the oxygen and kill himself, the corpse disappears.
2. Bug with a chainsaw, if we take the body and the player the ability to use the 50 mana is the velocity of the mad. From what can be stuck on the heights. In the 2 file there is this.
3. Bug with resurrection worsened if the parasite infects himself again. Then he is given another hero from which he treated himself to 2 times faster, the horror.

By the way, I have long been out with friends in your playing cards, thank you that you're doing them. If we're in garena Russian RPG room 03.

@Garfield1337: I was finally able to identify the problem associated with the team kill bug and fix it. Also I fixed the issue that prevented a person with the captain's card from opening jail doors. As for the problem that prevents someone from using the captain features even with a captain's card, I looked into it and I couldnt find anything wrong with the triggering, it all looks good. Did bureaulamp have the captain's card on him at the time he tried to use the bomb turn off/on, and blood test turn off/on?

@Vampir1991: Thanks for the help, I wasn't able to open your replay files for some reason though, but I will look into the bugs you mentioned and see what I can do.

@Farew311: There should be no problem with teleporting services drones across floors, I'll check it out though.

I'll have a new version with said bug fixes up soon.

Look in attached replay,around 2:25. Bureaulamp is in control room and he gets messages that say he's not authorized to perform some actions. (Don't change viewed player or else messages won't show)

We played on 16th January together xD. On that day i wanted to see few things on infestation and found para 3 and then later you cuz para 2 bot shutdown and i hosted ;D.

Garf, I tested those captain commands, and they work fine.

Why some things and consoles don't work with interact ?
You do know im making Cruiser Command in 2D :O ? After it's done im gona make Parasite in 2D from previous engine :D.

- Increased the energy cost of the demolition suit's link mine ability from 20 to 30.
- Decreased the damage of link mines from 150 to 100.
- Added a vote system for jailing team killers.
- A player is now only dubbed a team killer if the human it kills dies permanently (didnt revive in time or wasnt spawned).


I think I may have missed some bug fixes I did, couldn't remember them all... oh well. The game is starting to look a little more stable, i'll start adding in the rest of the features including parasite evolving, space, the rest of the weapons and armor suits, and the AI. I also plan on getting rid of the outdoors area. The base will eventually become the space station, thus the doors that use to take you outside will be closed off.

Hmm, but what is so tough to create a folder Parasite 3 and put it in maps. That type of so \Maps\Parasite 3. :ogre_frown:
This is because anyone can do or you do not run through the Warcraft 3? :ogre_rage:

Maps are protected kiddo if you ever succed opening it you get a huge mess all triger wrong and such.

Map deprotection is easy.
Protecting maps to keep others from accessing it is as stupid as it is counterproductive.

The only valid reason to 'protect' a map is not to protect it, but to optimize it. Completely different, yet has the same (and even better) effects.

Erm I'd say protecting maps is worth only if you made some very popular map that has very high possibilities to get stolen, or if you want to decrease filesize...
But nowdays, when Warcraft 3 popularity is so low, I wouldn't say there's high possibility of map getting stolen, and I wouldn't say this one is a very big filesize map...

The map protection actually increases the map size, by about 2.5%, but its worth it even if its not full proof.

- Fixed a hotkey and button placement issue regarding cloaking for the covert suit.
- Fixed a bug that sometimes prevented humans from reloading.
- Fixed a bug that sometimes prevented the parasite from using its interface abilities, and regenerate health.


GAMEPLAY CHANGES
- Decreased Spawn HP from 500 to 450.
- Decreased Spawn movement speed from 320 to 290.
- Decreased the amount of move speed reduced from neurotoxin from 30% to 20%.
- Decreased the damage of the Bio Plasmid Gun for Spawns from 5 to 4.
- Increased duration of force field from 5 to 8 seconds.
- Modified muscular augment so that bonus move speed stays constant until the effect ends.
- Decreased move speed bonus from muscular augment from 30% to 20%.
- Modified team killer jailing so that team killers are automatically jailed if their victim permanently dies (wasnt revived or spawned in time).

That's because you don't know how to do it correctly.

As I have said before, protecting a map so others cannot open it is foolish.
I can deprotect your map within 5 minutes, and if it even increases the file size it makes it all the more stupid to protect a map.

Only people with an avarage amount of map knowledge can deprotect maps, so because of map protection, new people cannot learn how to use the world editor correctly.
Let's say you left your map unprotected and a newb steals it, then it will never be accepted on any reasonable site (because the newb won't be able to do anything good with the map).
However, an avarage person can steal it, but then again: they can also deprotect it.
And in case someone deprotected your map (as said before, piece of cake), the chance that they'll mention you in the credits is near 0%. You don't have that problem with open-source maps, who would be lame enough to steal something that is open-source?
Due to protection, people like me won't give reviews as easily (I use the editor as a starting point, if I cannot open the map in the editor I won't be that happy to give a review).

Let's sum it up:
  • New people cannot learn.
  • Deprotection is easy for someone with avarage mapping knowledge.
  • Increases file size.
  • In case someone steals it, they'll probably do anything to erase your name from the map.
  • You get less extended reviews.

Now tell me again, why would you protect your map?


The only correct map protection is map optimization, which decreases the file size and has a completely different goal than the regular protection.
There, I said it.

It's true that it isn't hard to deprotect map,but there are people that might
screw
up your map,make some omgwtfbbq versions with imba things. Such people are mostly inexperienced with editor and with map deprotecting and pretty much won't bother doing it if it's protected.

Many people download maps from epicwar at which anything can be uploaded.

This is off-topic though,we should stop it.

In case DSG misses my post (due to disputation),i'll quote it
Spawns need lesser regeneration,rather than less health. Service drone can't damage spawns due to their regeneration. Not to mention i noticed it's hard to kill spawn because if he runs - he regenerates more than humans can damage him while running.

The hp regen wasnt suppose to be that high. I updated the map again, with the high regen for spawns fixed, and their hp returned to 500.

Also apocalypse, if you want to teach me how to protect maps better I will definitely take that into consideration, otherwise your points are pretty much meaningless to me. I would rather have some protection than none at all.

No tutorial/teaching required.

You can easily lower the file size by 15-20% with that tool.
How it works: it removes WE-only data, meaning it cannot be opened in the WE either.
This is how protection should be: removing unnecessary files to lower the file size and - coincidentally - also actually protect the map while doing so.

Thanks for the heads up Apoc, I'll be releasing an open source version sometime after the game is gold status.

Well if you have put really much of work and so no into the map then it'sa bad idea but anyways warcraft 3 is gonig to rot like diablo 2 is currently until they will eventually give less and less hosting performance on the game until they will shut it down like Diablo 2 is going to be, currently it lags 10x as it did 4 years ago and there still were newcomers at that point now it's full of cheater and geeks...

Well ill research your map if you release a public version to make a 2D version of it as a real computer game.

it will be parasite chosing (allowing people who want para to get para and people who dont want para not to get para)

heres how it will work

at game start it will poll people if they want to be para or not
votes must be secret
para will be chosen randomly out of the yes group
if there is no yes group it is chosen out of the no group

I don't see how can this be abused,can you explain?

I explained 2 times already but fine:
For example 3 guys which are friends meet on skype they go play Parasite 3 and they vote on ksype which want be parasite and then they go to game and game starts at begin voting begins. Those 3 guys already voted their own way and they vote for their skype vote winner and then that guy becomes secretly cerebrate exept to these 3 guys and then over skype he tells them to meet for example in cantina. There he infects them at very start of the game that way he evolves 3x faster and people in game just :O to the popping up messages of parasite evolution and then those 3 parasite guys just team and infest all other humans and game ends.

This is an example how unfair it could be they because they voted ( 3 votes on 1 guy ) become cerebrate and other people have just 1 vote their own...

I support this because i think it shouldn't be too hard to add (but lol i don't really know) and it would avoid some games ruined by leavers or beginners.

and garfield, some players don't want to be para, it will only affect few players, like beginners (advertise in the dialog box "Parasite (not for beginner)"), teamkillers, and some pros that are bored of being parasite because it's too easy. And i even met guys who didn't want to be parasites in parasite 2.
