Original ideas needed

I have done 37% in my map CD - typed (CD castle defence. It is like TD but you defending something by units).
I have already made here enough units, upgrades, a little engineer system... but i want to add SPECIAL. But have no idea what special may be realized in this type of maps. May be you know?

Well, lots of choices, a timer, that when it expires, a boss fight appears, boss are always awesome but in most popular maps they are unused

other "Events":
Castle Fight:
shows a area, from a far camera, showing in the left a castle and in the right another one, you controll small units with your partners and you must attack the other castle,

Max Hero:
not so hard, when heroes max level give a spellbook with lots of usefull spells

Aerial Defence:
Some players, ina far place of the map are protecting the outer part of the castle, its only a fight beetween airplanes, althought in WC3 should be Gryphons, Hawk riders, fighting gargolyes and stuff, the place where they fight should be with Wind enviorment effect, with blockers in border to prevent from flying away from the area

Unit Deploys:
Houses and stuff, that with some money you can send units to aid you in the defence, in normal defence and also send planes to help in Aerial Defence!

well that are my most ideas

Make castles repairable, make upgrade for castles, something like Walls and Towers around the castle.
If you want something very VERY SPECIAL, UNBELIEVABLE, MEGASUPER. Then make an arena, where from time to time, two different castles are send, and the castles just fight each other. The castle that has more upgrades will win, and its owner gains reward.

Make castles conquerable, add some neutral castles along the way. Allow players to have more than 1 castle.
Of course, your Castle Defense will be special if you make it have a story... a story with sense..

When your building(s) finish training an unit, it got 1% chance to make a hero, with 50% more health point than the unit you've trained. This hero got 1 ability and 1 spell, the spell does a wave of earth 300 yards forward which does loads of damage, but got 300 sec. cooldown. The abiliity can be launched once, it takes control of 10 non-hero units that are between 1 and 900 yards away from him. By using this ability, it will kill the hero completely. This hero can only be summoned when a building is that lucky to hit that 1% chance. And give every player a castle which can upgrade their chance to summon this hero by 2%. This upgrade won't be cheap and ain't shared with rest of the team if a player buys it. Except if you make it so all players of the team shall pay for it and if they all accept an dialog or something, it will be bought to the team, using the money they all got together. Using math. Add flying units (so that difficulty gonna be insane!)

Hmm... I dont know how your terrain looks but if you didn't, do use imported models for walls etc... to make your castle really looks like a castle.

Maybe you can think on gates used for tactical use . Maybe open a gate to make monsters comes in a part of the castle where they can no longer attack the king, or close this gate to force them to fight.
