Hey,

For a new project I've been thinking to create a map based on the entire of Tamriel, Cyrodil, Morrowind, Skyrim all of it. It would start at the end of the elven empire and rise of the humans and end after the oblivion aftermath. It would be highly event based and a strategy map. Instead of the good ol' mass and smash I've thought of a new fighting system. You buy certain 'demo' heroes called General or Legion I, Legion II etc. From those heroes you can then purchase troops that patrol the hero, as in gather around the hero and fight any enemies nearby. This would be effective gameplay because of the very large size of the map and all the different cities etc.

Models, skins and all that is easy to supplement for and I can trigger but my main concern is terraining. If there any terrainers out there who are fairly good and are currently free I would appreciate help with the terrain. No TES (The Elder Scrolls) knowledge is needed for terraining but it does help :)

Also I need some brainstormers and idea people to help with the events, plausible lore and alternate lore.

Please I need as much feedback as possible so feel free to reply with anything that is constructive.

i one attempted this project but in two different ways actually, i once attempted making just raven rock of morrowind and realized it was going to take a fairly long time, but the terrain style is very transferable to wc3 just using the overhead maps that they made for the game, and the maps can be made with some fair amount of detail, and also making the very same fighting mechanic in an advance village builder style game, and unfortunately i found that the guarding units is very un-tactical as yes it allows you to control mass armies but to focus fire its not so easy and the second major problem is if they are only controlled by one of these generals with wc3 patrol they can trap them in and not move for them causing massive backlogs when trying to move huge armies.

but some suggestions maybe link the attack of the lead unit to the attack of all the units but give the lead unit a set of powers that relate to the units it controls which are no more than commands, e.g. formations maybe items held by each general with 3 or 4 different formations for the troops to follow, a hold button for all his troops ect.

but sounds good its a good take on the idea but one hell of a project, though don't fail on the terrain its easily makable just has to take some time on it. i would love to help but have just embarked on an equally epic project http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/map-development-202/wake-beast-beta-name-164318/

Hm if anyone has ever played Eurpoa Universalis the fighting would be something like that in a *way*. Terrain won't be easy. Basic terrain will be but maybe I won't go too much into detail for my map since it's mass unit controlled. Thanks for the ideas and support.

Still looking for terrainer!!!!

Have you ever played... mount and blade? You could try a troop system like that. So you would have abilities in a 'tactical' spell book, that fired off certain command triggers.

Like follow/patrol

Charge

Guard (hold position "your location" + x)

Fire at will/Hold Fire

Etc...

"Go here"

It sounds good though, hope you finish it :)

EDIT: Combine that with some Overlord 2, grouping and 'flag positions' and you might have a win... O.O

Okay, heres the delio. I loved Oblivion and Morrowind. They were both fantastic games.

So let me put this as simply as I can...you cannot do this. No, literally, you cannot. Not with anywhere near the amount of detail, integrity, systems, or terrain.

If you do decide to work on a project like this. I'd suggest you wait until Starcraft II and if you have already starting make this map, to stop. I love the idea, but to put it simply, it just cannot work in warcraft. It cannot.

If you wait until starcraft II, you can have a better terrain, mouse control for possible first person, complex UI systems, and larger map sizes.

Thats all I'm going to say, and leave it at that.

I'm not familiar with your map making skills but I suggest starting with making a smaller map. I'm by no means saying you're not capable of making this map, but Tamriel is a huge continent with all kinds of terrain, so consequently you'll have to be sufficiently skilled to make all these terrains look good.
But the idea is great and I've always loved the elder scrolls lore, so I hope you can get this project going!
