:O Large and confusing forum - Cleanup and simplification needed? Probably...

I haven't visited this forum often since it converted into hiveworkshop. I remember the good times of old wc3sear.ch (I remember the forum was easier to read through). Now there is so much fucking main threads and stuff, that I'm totally confused.

I find it weird that offtopic has a subforum called "Something else". rofl it's still offtopic

Also computer tech didn't exist before. Also gamers hub I don't recognize. Artists discussion have become really big, and Warcraft III modding too!

So this site could need some hint and advice for making it easier to get a better overview, like me and other people which rarely visits this site. For the moderators and people who always visits this page, they don't really notice it much and used to it, since they are here everyday. But I think simplification could have been useful. Benefit for all newcomers.




Something I noticed:

I find these 2 threads completely unnecesary, as they could have fused into 1 instead:
Introduce yourself ( no one posts here, so why not KILL IT?)
Introductions (few posts here...)

Perhaps still keep the 2 links, but make it 1 forum instead.

The one at the top is actually just a redirection for new people to notice. When you click to enter the forum it automaticly starts a new thread for you in the real forum.

Well I don't mind the size. If there are enough people to fill each one. I generally just stick to the areas of my interest and where I can help, ie. Terrain, Map DEv, WE help, WC3:WoW, and Off-topic.

There are definitely people here who don't read all the forums. I personally pick about 10 favorite forums and check those most often.

Otherwise you might end up spending half a day here to keep up with everything.

I still believe the forums are too "unpacked". Bug Reports, for example, perfectly fit for a sub-forum inside Site Discussion.

I don't care how many admins and mods there is, but I think the number of threads somehow it can be shrunked. Very large forum. You must even search to check if the similar subject has been posted before!

You think so? With one noob here and there every month/week, I don't think the number of moderators should be any lower.


As for the forums, yes, they need to be packed a bit.

I do think we have a few forums that aren't used as much, like the gallery - terrain. But generally each one is unique and used often enough.

There are the right amount of Mods. With so many forums it's needed. As long as the quality of the Mods stays high.

I don't see what the heck you mean by confusing. It's easy to overlook, my only problem is that my mouse scrolls up when I scroll down at times. Computer Tech doesn't exist...?
Introductions are there for people not to pop up randomly everywhere, I say.
