Ha, like he would do animations for every single model someone is too lazy to animate. BM animations work surprisingly well, I'll give you that. Reduces creativity, but I can't really do anything...
EDIT: Model is officially done, team colour and animations and all. Portrait comes next. Which will probably not have talk animations since I want to allow much freedom on what kind of mouth it should have.

The wrap can be done in 256 or 512, resizing the guide really isn't a problem at all. The lines keep detail pretty well, its just the texture you've gotta watch. Besides, I don't see 256 res being an issue for alpha-ing, if anything it is better to work at true res (except in very specific circumstances such as working with the Demon Hunter's face or Shandris/Sylvanas' face in which case you're better off using 1024 res). People get the wrong idea that 512 res equals better quality. Sure, it looks better in Magos, there's all that extra detail. You can texture on all those nifty little doodads that there isn't enough room for in 256. 512 is great if you're new to skinning or skinning for a game where you encounter large, high detail models. Ingame in WC3 is very different, the ingame camera blurs out the small details to make the texture visible at the standard camera distance. In addition, you can expect that if your texture is going to be used for b.net, it'll be shrunk and compressed to the stage where the detail is blurred to oblivion. The only way to catch all that detail you put hours of work into is to scroll in to maximum zoom, which no-one will do. On the occasion where you are skinning high res for accuracy or whatever, you need to be extra conscious of how the texture will transform when it is resized to 256. It's a tricky thing to get right. So I ask, which is the better quality in the long run?

Kickass model btw, I've already got ideas for what I'll do texturewise with it :3

Yes I know, I know Hawk. I wasn't planning on keeping on going with it. Just showing some of the alpha channels available on the skin if we do decide to use it. And I wouldn't mind that much actually joining in a contest for once, but I'll wait till another ingame unit, I'm gonna take some time on this one

what about creating a special competition?

like,

create a hero skin (or) model
create 4 icons for his spells
create 4 spells that goes with the description
balance the hero so it works with the other warcraft 3 heros..

and it could be a team contest? :D

^Unless you do it in parts, like a "design a neutral Tavern hero" contest, then a modelling/texturing/animating contest, then an icon contest, then a spell-creating contest (all contests using the material from the previous one)

like we could start with

Design a hero competition

Than for the texturing competition, you HAVE to pic, one of the entrys,

Than for the spell competition, you HAVE to pic one of the skin and the design that goes with it.

Than for the icons competition, you have to pic on of the skin with the design that goes with it and the spells..

trust me, only about like 4-6 people will join it

I don´t think that it´s true because many people joined the hive olympics at the beginning, but when they noticed that it was way too much work and just 1 month time the contest was doomed.

But the 1 that Mr.Goblin suggested is mainly the on that is hosted at wc3c quite often and they always had awesome entries :>
