Need suggestions for a Single Player map

Hi.

I hope this is the right place to post this.

Well, these days I was a bit lazy to keep working on my main proyect, so I decided to give it a rest, and began making a new map, just for fun.
I wanted to make a map with the classic "War Chasers" style: you get a hero, advance through a huge dungeon, bosses, etc.
The classic Single Player map. And I just need some ideas for it.
The main thing: what would you hope to see when you begin playing a map of this type. What should I do to it?

For now, I've already finished all the hero's abilities, I am making a lot of puzzles involving keys, doors, hidden bridges, elevators, platforms, etc... And I'm also making some good looking boss battles, with custom boss' spells, and things like that.
Of course, I perfectly know that this kind of map has already been too much exploited. But it's just that.. I've never completed a map of this kind. (I started them a lot of times, but then I was a noob, and those maps were a total failure. XD)

I just want to know what would you like to see in a map like this. It's just that I run out of ideas, and I don't feel like leaving this map unfinished. I accept suggestions of game features, puzzles, whatever...

Yeah Warchasers is 4 player I believe.

If you make it multiplayer I would like to see a place where the players have to split up and go through each their door, which closes behind them to each complete some kind of quest. When they complete it, they will meet on the other side. Stuff like that is always awesome when you succeed and find your friend again.

Well, I really like Ralle's idea, but I think it would be hard to adapt the map to multiplayer now that I advanced so much in the single player difficulty setting... Another problem for the multiplayer is that the map uses custom music, so it'll probably be too heavy...
However, I think I could make a Single Player version with custom music, and a Multiplayer version without music. In the multiplayer version, the number of enemies would be increased, the bosses would be harder to kill, and I could implement ideas like the one Ralle said.

Do you think this is worth it? This way, the same map could satisfy both single-players and multiplayers, they just have to download the version they want.

Well you could implement it, by having an event where your hero is cursed and split into several units (à la Storm, Earth and Fire), each one having to take on a different dungeon and reuniting at the end. So for example, three units whose dungeons are based on fighting a monster, dodging projectiles and figuring out a puzzle (str, agi, int); four elemental-aligned units with appropriate dungeons (fire, ice, rock, lightning...), etc.

Problem with the escort mission is that either the escortee is under computer control and it's too hard (gets killed, doesn't follow your orders...), or under your control and it's too easy (clear out all the monsters and come back for him/her).

Minigame-type quests can sometimes be fun, as long as they're not too repetitive.

It's hard to make a map that fits both singleplayer and multiplayer... But I'll consider your opinions, they are very helpful and constructive.

However, I would want to ask your opinions about another things: the heros. At the beginning, the map was only for singleplayer, and there was only one hero. As your opinions gave me enough ideas to make a multiplayer map from this, I will obviously need more heros. It would be boring to keep all players (probably 4) playing with the same hero.
For now, here's the only hero that's already finished, with his abilities:

Monster Terror, the Obliterator: A high skilled soldier, wearing a high technology suit and wielding a high technology weapon. To be clearer, he uses this model: http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/models-530/marine-47824/?prev=search=marine&d=list&r=20
He is an arrogant person, laughing on his enemies, and kicking their as**s too. It's inspired in Dante, from DMC, so you could figure out what kind of person he is. His abilities are:
- Shrapnel barrage: Monster Terror launches a barrage of explosives that advance in a straight line, each explosion dealing damage to enemies.
- Big Mac Burger: His suit, with a highly advanced cooking system, can easily produce Big Mac Burgers and put them in Monster Terror's inventory. With each level, the cooldown of the ability reduces. (As you can see, there's a bit of humour in the game...)
- Aim: Basicly, the Critical Strike of the orc blademaster.
- Merciless Frenzy: Highly increments the walking speed and attack speed of Monster Terror. With each level, the effect is more brutal. Is intended to be its ultimate ability.
- Genetic improvement: Raises the stats of the hero.

The hero's spells, as you see, are nothing extremely awesome. If you want to suggest something, just do it. I can still change everything.

This guy was going to be the only available hero on single player. What other heros do you think I could implement? Also, please, make suggestions about their spells. I'm starting to make my own spells, and I'll gladly try to make any spell you suggest, they'll be a good practice. ;)

Also, the plot of the game it's not really awesome. Basicly a being of other world raised in a abandoned fortress, and threatens to spread darkness trough the world... until a group of experienced fiend hunting heros appear to stop him. Nothing special. I didn't really wanted to make a good plot. I you have suggestions for a better plot, they'll be welcome too.

Well, you want four heroes and you already have the warrior. Now you need a mage, a thief and a healer.

As for plot, here's a quest: the Big Bad has enslaved three Pit Lords as his bodyguards, each maintaining his own distinct army (one has only melee units, the second has melee and ranged, the third has melee, ranged and casters) outside the Big Bad's keep. The Pit Lords have an enchantment that forces them to come to the aid of their brothers if attacked (via teleport), but as they hate each other and the Big Bad, will do nothing to help once the enchantment is broken. The quest would be optional, as breaking the enchantment makes for a much harder (but much more rewarding) battle.

A girl who is curious, Ryssha, traveled among the globe and searching for a good hunt. She followed the path of Artermis, who is, an eternal maiden. She followed her way of the hunt and found this strange place and felt a strong presence. Then this happened ...

Penetrating Arrows

Shoots penetrating arrows through her enemies. Damages enemies behind target and deals X% less than the original.

Daylight Grace

She will shoot an arrow to the sky and it will turn into petals. These petals can heal allies or damage enemies. Deals X Damage to enemies and X heal to allies.

Eclipse Arrow

This skill will only activate at nighttime (25%) , and a 75% chance at 22:00-02:00. She will shoot a arrow that can instantly kill an enemy if the life of the target is below 10%. Does not work on Bosses. Deals 100 Damage if not instant kill.

Advanced Training

Turns 1st skill penetration + 1 more unit, 2nd Skill Heal and damage will be higher, 3rd Skill, Deals 200 Damage if not instant kill.

Actually, I need at least 3 heros... The idea of the ninja could work very well for one of them. I'll play around and see if I can get some nice spells for him.

I also like the idea of the ranger. I'm pleased with her background too. :)
I'll give a try to her spells, and see what I can get from this.

I just need a pure offensive caster now.

Pro'udaz the Cursed Magician
Pro'udaz was once a handsome and talented magician, and plenty of women adore him. He is kind and generous, helpful to the poor and other people. Everything went great until a witch fell in love with this fellow sorcerer. She confessed her love to him but Pro'udaz did not accept. Crying, the poor witch ran away from him, and swearing to have revenge. One night, she casted a spell that turned him into this horrible figure. Pro'udaz was shocked and irritated because of his new form. He sought the lands to and fro, and he heard this dungeon has the cure. He teamed up with other people and ventured to the unknown.

Am i the only one that feel mixing a futuristic marine soldier with a night elf ranger, a ninja and a warlock is a bit weird?^^

If you want the futuristic theme i would rather go for smth like:
A huge, high HP, high melee dmg, robotic, brute-like hero with mainly melee abilites....
A Manipulator which can manipulate electricity to his advantage shooting lightning at his enemies, overcharging himself increasing his speed and add an electric effect to his attacks stunning enemies etc......
And last a supporter hero, some kind of Medic which can heal and buff himself and his other teammembers with adrenalin shots and stuff like that ;)

But when i think about it, since you want to use the other heroes you could just replace the marine instead and not have a futuristic terrain and it's all good :p

As goes for quests it would be cool to have a room where the light is kinda flickering(and auto-target gets disabled on ur heroes), so you have to fight in the dark and just get glimts every now and then so you can see where you, your temmates and ur enemies are(could work just as good in a singleplayer map aswell)

Would like to know if you are going for futuristic theme or fantasy before i try to come up with more stuff :)
