At first when i saw discord and heard his voice i was all....

but then i realized that expecting something like tony jay voicing a badass chimera in this show was unreasonable.... so ... i guess this is fine. it fits the show

Since it's a cartoon animated series, I doubt they will ever get their Cutie Marks. If they do, they will maybe towards the end season or if they need to be remade as characters because they aren't popular anymore and actually decreasing the rating of the show. So untill that happens, no, they will not get their Cutie Marks.

They need to be in the show for diversity. You need to have 3-4 episodes per season about their adventures. Even if the people don't like them that much, it's a reason big enough for them to not get their Cutie Marks.

CMC have several features the other characters do not have. They are still in school, they still don't have their Cutie Marks and they are younger in age. Through them you can access points of the story in a very neat way. Like how everyone got their Cutie Mark, or what a Cutie Mark actually is. Furthermore they help contribute to the forming of the plot, like shown in that glimpse from the Second Season.

As long as they are usefull to the show as they are, they will not change. That's why no character from the Simpsons ever ages. Bart and Lisa are stuck in the same grade for 20 years
