I imported a song and I try to play it as a music theme and a sound at the same time so it's louder but it seems to not overlap. It just plays it on one channel or the other depending on which one I run first in the trigger. Is there any way to make it play on both at the same time?

Why not just increase the volume of the theme?

There are free sound editors for that. For example, you could use Audacity (use google to find the download). Open your file, select the entire audio (CTRL+A), and then go to Effect -> Amplify.

Then save and reimport into your map. It'll probably be easier than what you're trying to do. ;P

Otherwise, try to find a version that has a higher volume.

but the problem is when you try and add db to the music it starts to distort and sound bad so amping it up that way doesn't work great. and i know everyone in wc3 always has their sound afx higher than their music volume so thats why i wanted it on both channels.

I mostly just want to take advantage of the louder volume ppl use for sound channels :)

You need 2 different sound objects if I recall. This may need 2 different imports. However I doubt the result is anything desirable as the channels may not be perfectly in synchronization and also the loudness will be minimal.

That is because you are saturating against the maximum representable value for a certain bit depth. Raising the bit depths can get around this at the cost of larger file size and potentially no difference (as it might normalize the sound).

By now most people have their music volume turned off. Instead people play with their own music in the background. This is another reason not to use the sound channels for music as you get the situation where your music starts to conflict with the player's music and so he just turns off sound and rates your map badly.

Never play music using the sound channel. Only play music using the music channel. Obviously you can make an exception of the music is part of a 3D sound or is a very short sequence to signify an event.

Try turning up the volume in game.
