The team hasn't discussed too much about the multiplayer stuff yet. Things like player limit and things that will be thrown in the multiplayer version to specificly help multiplayer version (such as General Chat, LFG, World Defense, etc.)
So everything is undecided at the moment and I cannot give too much information about this feature.
A user called "MindWorX" is programming a program called "WarSoc", it will give the power to players to click "Start Game" (single-player) and when any single-player game is started while running WarSoc, players that know your IP or IP of another WarSoc enabled map will join. Even if it's a single player file such as a campaign.
Also, this program plans to make it possible for a variety of players to play in any map of the campaign they want while others in the same campaign can play in another. When Wc3:WoW is released, you can run from Valley of Trials to Sen'jin Village and there can be players playing in Valley of Trials, Orgrimmar, Barrens, etc. This will definately give that MMORPG feel to the game. We just hope we get as many players as possible to play this online! What've you got to lose besides some space on your hard drive? It's a free MMORPG! What more can you ask for?
And to those who wonder if we will make patches for the multiplayer version, the answer is yes, we'll update the campaign as best as we can and remove any bugs found if possible. We'll consider these patches rather than new versions... unless if your characters get deleted after replacing your older version of Wc3:WoW Online.

and here i was being told by u a while ago that this would never happen in a million years lol but meh w/e...
have u guys thought about a central server yet? like u know how on wow emulators and stuff they use internet servers all that would require is some probably extremely easy coding to make a program which just listens to an adress on the internet and then when a connection is made to it it links it to the other 39 users online or w/e... i mean this would enable easy globalisation of them map and huge amounts of servers could be raised every where (believe me this is do able if u have ever run any type of server e.g wow then u will know it is)

First, I did say it may never may in a million years. I also said that the only way to do it is if we had some really great program or modification that'd enable it; then I said Blizzard would probably be the only people with enough knowlege to do it.
Anyway, I have thought about it. But it'd cost about twelve(12) dollars a month and I'm not really sure if I truely want to spend money on this. Once it is done, I might set up a PayPal donation button. And if I do and I recieve enough money to keep the server up for atleast two(2) months, I will definately have Wc3:WoW up and running on a special server that will be monitored by me.
Although the single-player version is unprotected, I think it would be safest if we had the multiplayer version protected, to avoid law suits since if the mod is hosted somewhere else illegally and we are the ones who take responsibility and credit for it, we'd take the blame. So the multiplayer version will be protected. I know the cost of servers and a bit how they work because I and a couple friends tried making an MMORPG. The making of it failed because of our programmer leaving in the middle of working. But I visited a site that pretty much rents/sells servers to people for a monthly fee. For best stuff, it costs about 12 bucks. Maybe more.

It will be free. But not for us, the makers. We'll need to probably set up special servers for the game, which may cost us, the team, money monthly. We'd put up a donation button on the website for people to voluntarily aid us in helping you guys. It's not selling the game, just making it function. And to make it function properly, it will need some advanced stuff that money CAN buy. :)

It isn't required that you donate money. But if we get no donations, the public will play a very laggy server.

No problem. Like I've said, it's not at all a requirement; Just a recommendation once the final version is ready (may take YEARS!)
I still haven't figured out how lag will work out with the multiplayer version. But I'll announce what I can once I get information about it.

Thank you very much for your support, Mand_470 and Jombo1.
Unfortunately will not be compatible online until it is finished and that may take years to do. It takes alot of dedication and commitment to still work on a mod that's been being worked on for almost four years now. And I plan to go all the way with Wc3:WoW.
Once again, thank you Mand_470, Jombo1, and all of our other supporting fans for their support for Wc3:WoW!

MMORPG o_O You realy are throwing away every boundry aren't you? World of Warcraft watch out, there is competition coming ^^ and maby this would be even better than WoW becouse 1.)It's free (for us atleast) 2.)It is in warcraft III wich just is realy cool ^^. so... will it also be possible to just play single player or with just one friend instead of hundreds of people joining you ^^?

Wow you caught on pretty late DarkKnight, but yes, this will be mutliplayer... but not for a very long time. Years! So keeping yourself all hyped up now is just torturing yourself and will become a real set-back later on.

Competition against the real WoW? Doubtful. However I can see why some people would rather play Wc3:WoW rather than WoW for the following reasons:
1)It's pretty much free. Just gotta buy Wc3:RoC and Wc3:tFT but that's like 40 bucks... tops.
2)No monthly fees! NONE!
3)Much smaller filesize! (WoW is 5gigs and then some... Wc3:WoW will never even get close to 1 gig as far as I know)
4)Runs fine on crappy computers too!
5)And yeah, WoW in Wc3 is pretty exciting, impressive, and interesting for sure!

There are also alot more reasons why NOT to play this:
1)WoW has better graphics and animations.
2)WoW has more than 60x more players than Wc3:WoW does.
3)More people play WoW and there's a chance that Wc3:WoW will barley be popular at all and become one of those slightly abandoned games that are still active by a thread (Shadowbane for example).

and so many other reasons... but we'll try to make Wc3:WoW as great and perfect as we possibly can.

Will it be able to be played just single-player? Yes, of course! That's what we're going to accomplish first, and then we just convert it into multiplayer and add and replace alot of stuff which will definately take a while.
Can you play it with just one friend or perhaps a couple more? Yes.

PS: It's fun grinding with "WhosYourDaddy" and hitting lvl 20 in a half-hour :D

Well not everyone is moving on to SC2. For example: Me!
So I'm sure there are many others who will not quit WC3 for Starcraft. And besides... I'm sure Sc2 will have system requirements that exceed many other's PC systems. So I'm counting on this project to be quite a hit, even after Sc2 is out.

I don't know what starcraft exactly is, and I'm not going to find out ^^, altrough I like science-fiction, it seems like a boring game (sorry SC fans, but thats just my oppinion so don't come to my house with torches and hayforks) so count me for the wc3 players ^^

lol guys, i were just trying to be realistic -.-, and Craka, have you looked at the screenies in SC2? The graphics aint that fantastic, in fact im very disappointed in blizz, they have aparently become so capitalistic that they dont think about quality anymore... just my opinion.

Blizzard's style is not realism if you haven't noticed. They're still clinging onto their cartoonish style. Starcraft never really was that realistic to begin with anyway. But atleast the physics are nice and the graphics are pretty good to be honest... however, it looks pretty similar to an RTS I used to play. Forgot the name though; I think it was one of the Age of Empires games. The reason Blizzard focusses on gameplay rather than looks is because they know what will happen if they get too drawn to graphics (Looks at Warhammer 40,000). Besides... they have plenty of time to improve their flaws.

Anyway, I've started terraining RFC today and a little bit of Orgrimmar. Had to boot Celestea from the team because she asked for the mod to steal it, so she will be banned from the team and the online version permanently.

So with all the time lost waiting for her to work on Darnassus when she really wasn't, now I need to make up time and finish Darnassus >.< I hate elven areas! Once THE_END sends me the tilesets for Tirisfal Glades and Undercity, I'll get to work on them both right away. Still awaiting doodads to be made by HappyTauren.

i never said that blizzards models were meant to look realistic. I just said that i were realistic with how many ppl playing this, so you misunderstood me :p. Anyway, f*ck it, i'll stop saying alot of negative irrelevant sh*t. A shame that she "betrayed" you, but Craka (i hate elven areas too) because you hate elven areas you will probably automaticly (correct me if im wrong) work less on it, just keep in mind that its just as important to the game as other areas. Please do not get offended cause that was never my intension for you to be. ;)

I hate terraining elven areas because they usually require more doodads to give it that Elven feeling. And I hate Elves only in games. (In movies, they're usually awesome :D)
Will I work less on Elven areas? Well as much as I'd like to work less on those areas, people seem to be attracted to Elven areas, there for, I will put as much detail and skill into it as I can. I will keep my own personal dislikings of races and such apart from my work, for the sake of keeping this mod as professional as I can make it.

Other areas are not just deserts. There are forests, jungles, caverns, indoor and outdoor instances, grassy plains, plauged isles, and much more to it than you really think!

In other news, I've been looking for a very good terrainer, not a pretty good, or almost good, or anything like that. I'm looking for the best of the best. And a loyal terrainer as well, as HernanG was for example. Unfortunately, all of the terrainers I've asked to join refuse to help or try to steal it. It seems that I am alone when it comes down to terraining Wc3:WoW. Too bad HernanG disappeared.

Please do not apply as a terrainer if you're not sure if you're good. And don't be too confident and prepare yourself in case if you are not accepted.

Back from my vacation! I hate terraining elven areas too. It's like it never gets good enough. One question though. How many Instances will be available in the next version?

Jombo1: Probably will be in the same map as Darnassus. Doubtful... but possible.
_______________
DarkKnight: Beta testing is certainly very helpful. Saves me and the triggers a lot of time for sure.
Elenai? Not sure if I've heard of him but I'll look him up...
_______________
Mand_470: Welcome back from your vacation! And only one instance (Ragefire Chasm) will be in the next open beta.
_______________

And if you guys are curious, I've added two new screenshots of the mighty Tauren city, Thunder Bluff, to the Gallery page.

Thanks for the positive support, thisruoy. It's very encouraging and supportive when we know fans are actually willing to help our cause with donations. We probably won't have a PayPal donation button until we get into multiplayer phases. And that's if we need dedicated servers! So who knows, maybe donations won't even be required! Then again it's always nice to save up on donations just in case if we do decide to purchase a dedicated server anyway for better features and such as larger trafficing tolerance and so on.

Elenai is a good modeller though, I'll give him/her that. I think I'll ask him if he wants to join or not.

Is it really hard to terrain like WoW with all the nice custom models and tiles? I guess it would be hard to make it really close to WoW. You have plenty of screens to use Craka?
