Mouse problems

Hey guys, have a slight problem with my USB Gaming Mouse.

It's plugged in but it's not moving, however left and right clicks are still functional.
I have tried plugging it in and out, reinstalling the driver, restarting my computer, but nothing seems to be working.

Can anyone help me out with this problem?

2 possible causes:
- The surface you're using isn't appropriate
- The mouse-wheel / light-sensitive tracker is broken.

More than likely it's the light sensitive tracker.

Bang it on the desk a few times. Used to fix my friends mouse.
