Models with static position

Is there a way to make models stay exactly where they were created, regardless of where the unit they're attached to relocates? I tried unchecking Model Space in Model Editor but that didn't do anything. I need this to give special effects a semi-controllable Z position. If they animate without updating their position, I can have just the one dummy and move it around to play as many special effects as I want to on it as AddSpecialEffectZ lags too much for my purposes. This does mean that all special effects need to be individually modified, but so be it.

You could try to modify the root node, but I doubt it will matter, the game probably injects its own root node to whatever your skeleton is.

I assume that all nodes in the game are the same, so it doesn't matter if we are talking about a node in the model file, or a node at run-time, meaning that PROBABLY all node functionality works also between units.
And since you can use the dontInheritTranslation/Rotation/Scale flags, yeah.
The thing is - is this functionality exposed via Jass? I don't think so.

Related to the code you linked - it makes much more sense to me that creating a flying unit will be a whole lot faster than adding a destructible that changes the map pathing. But hey, I know nothing about the weirdness of Warcraft, so I might be wrong.
