mip-maps in wc3

mip-mapping is a "Level-of-detail" mechanic that allows you to import a second, lower resoluted texture that will appear instead of the standard texture on long ranges, where you wont notice the difference and where it can enhance the computers rendering speed.
Since there are textures in the warcraft MPQ that are labeled "mip", as Fan pointed out, there should be support for it in warcraft, although i'd like to know if anyone has any information on how it works.
