Even in its latest version (1.04), this software has a glitch as the "Don't Inherit Rotation" node flag gets translated into "Don't Inherit Scaling" upon converting to MDL. So you are better off using a newer converter or Retera Model Studio.

Thanks for the info.

I noticed that it cannot convert models that have particle emitters with the Modulate2X filter mode; Retera's Matrix Eater and Model Studio are the only programs that can convert them, but they don't have the batch conversion functionality.

I believe I was able to get one HD mdx model to convert, but the Nightmare Ancient of Lore throws an error on repeat. It never resolves the error, just repeatedly throwing it forever.

Correct. You cannot convert HD models or models of version higher than 800 with this.

Version 800 was which game version, about? And I swear I managed to convert a newer model. For all I know it could've been one of the Black Empire models...

Version 800: Reign of Chaos/Frozen Throne files from 2002-2019
Version 900: Reforged Beta Files from 2019
Version 1000: Reforged files from 2019-2022
Version 1100: Reforged files from 2022+

The binary structure of node types within these versions is different.

And I swear I managed to convert a newer model.

No swearing is necessary. Even if your converter claims to succeed, there will be a loss of information when using a 2008 converter for a file in a 2022 format. The function and source code of these tools is available online and is well understood within the public sphere.
