Marvel War Map... i need some help :)

[Campaign Mode] Marvel Civil War

Hi, I'm a newbie and I don't speak english very well,
I hope this section is appropiate for my request
I'm doing a map about Marvel's characters (I have a few model problem but I expect to resolve)
The map set in the Civil Wars crossover... The gameplays should be like the WarChasers Map of ROC (I thought to a DOTA map or Hero Arena... but... there are too much of there). The gameplays should be similar to the Marvel Ultimate Alliance PC GAMES with team of 2 or more players against the Computer or another team :pshock:...

There is noone interested?
Now the map is just a "spell map" or a "testing map" (about 15 MB... I know: I must resize the .mdx files) I need some advice for the gameplay...

The basic idea is to give players a "free choices" beetween 2 faction with different goals:
- The pro-registrarion group: Allies with the Humans. They must capture the mutants and the dissidents.
- The anti-registration group: They need to release prisoners and defeat super-villains in order to gain consensus.

However you can choose no faction and do what you want: kill human and save Mutant (Magneto's styles),
alliance with Human and defeat super-villains (Spiderman's styles), help super-villains and... rules the world (Dr. Doom styles!)

There will be 8/12 main mission set in different place:
- Helicarrier/Whitehouse/Avenger Mansion: This will be the starter zone for "Human" Heroes (the first images)
- X.Mansion: This will be the starter zone for "X-Men" Heroes (the second img)
- maybe Genosha/I don't know: The starter zone for "Mutant Brotherhood" Heroes (third one).
- New York Street/Daily Bugle: The starter zone for "Spiderman & foes" Heroes (5° img)
- Asgard?/Hydra's secret base: You understand how it works?
- An Hell dimension or a graveyard by night (maybe with zombies): for the Heroes of seventh images
- New York Street/Baxter Building: The starter zone of "Fantastic 4" (You don't expect this?)

Then a final mission set in Riker's Island penitentiary which: You will decide the fate of the world!

There will be a few mini-game (Galactus, Mastermold and Mephisto are too big for normal gameplay):
- The World Eater: Silver Surfer must defend Galactus while eat planet (like the final mission of TFT which you defend Illidan)
- The Judgment's Day: Mastermold must kill the highest number of Mutants for... I don't know (like Tower Defense... without Tower)
- Pact with the Devil: Mephisto must turn the highest number of human into demon or something like that (like the map which Mal'Ganis turn VillagerMen into Zombies)

I think the project is 33% complete and I hope to complete with a little help :thumbs_up:

PROGRESSION

I'm working on this project from a year (not every day or even every month, in my spare time).
All Heroes (almost 65) have: 1 "Unit" ability (Trigger or not), 2/3 "Trigger Hero" ability (I prefer GUI because I understand GUI) and 1/2 "Normal Hero" ability (I don't want all Trigger ability, now the number of triggers is about 300)
I can't do this alone, because: First one I am a very, very, very bad terrainer (I really am) and I think that a good-looking map should be the starter point. Then I could be able to write the gameplay's code: I can copy from other map, I can try... I can fail. :goblin_boom:

If noone is interested in my project, can you tell me if there is something like this in the Hiveworkshop's maps?

MARVEL CIVIL WAR (CAMPAIGN MODE)
Now this project is no more about a single map, but a "campaign", like the Rexxar's campaign.
I think should be a large map of New York City from which you can access to the other maps.
Due to the story-line a few Heroes are "faction blocked":
- Captain America, Magneto, Blade and Dr. Doom are only anti-registration act;
- IronMan, Nick Fury, Dracula and Mr. Fantastic are only pro-registration act.

Helicarrier's Mission:
A "tutorial" mission, a very simple one in which you can try all heroes...

White House's Mission (I know White House isn't in New York):
In a conference room Tony Stark and Captain America argue on the registration act.
The discussion degenerates and they cause a fire...
- if you are pro-registration: You must save as many as possible (including President)
- if you are anti-registration: You need to reach Captain America and prevent it from being arrested by the S.H.I.E.L.D.
You can also kill the president and let the S.H.I.E.L.D. arrested Cap.

Avenger Mansion's Mission (optional):
Hulk, Hawkeye and BlackPanther are playing poker while Abomination,
Man-Ape (Black Panther's enemy) and Crimson Dynamo are attacking the Tony Stark's Lab...
- if you are "good": You need to feel Hulk and the Others in order to defeat the super-villains.
- If you are "evil": You can help the super-villains in order to destroy the Lab.

X-Mansion's Mission:
The Humans attack the Xavier's Institute with the help of Sentinels...
- if you are anti-registration: You must escape and defeat a specific number of Sentinels
- if you are pro-registration: You can play the Mastermold's minigame
There is a secret goal (for villain) in which you must kill all Humans.

Genosha's Mission:
Magneto wants to rescue the Mutants leading them in a safe place...
- if you are anti-registration: You need to defend a Mutant's Group as they reach the center of the Map.
- if you are pro-registration: You need to escort a Mutant's Group (the same) to the docks (where are Navy ships).

Daily Bugle Mission:
Goblin, Rhyno and Sandman attack the Journal because they want to force Spiderman to reveal his identity...
- if you are pro-registration: You can convince Spiderman to reveals his identity in order to defeat the super-villains (in a simple way)
- If you are anti-registration: You must defend a "weak" Peter Parker from the supervillain's attack.

Asgard/Hydra's secret base Mission:
I haven't a good idea...

Baxter Building's Mission (a "multi-floor" map, gates used to be lifts):
Mr. Fantastic built a prison in Negative Zone in order to contain the superpeoples unwilling to register...
- If you are anti-registration: You have to open Negative Zone's portals to free prisoners.
- If you are pro-registration: You must prevent the portals are opened and close the open ones

Hell Dimension Mission (optional):
Taking advantage of the war Blackheart wants open the Hell's gate and liberate Mephisto...
- If you are "good": You must prevent the gate and kill Blackheart
- If you are "evil": You must protect Blackheart while as he opens the gate (after that you can play Mephisto's minigame)

Graveyard:
At the night most Humans (including Nick Fury) turn into Zombies...
- if you are a Black Lantern... wait a minute, that belongs to the DC Universe... is the Blackest Night

Ryker's Island Mission (Final Mission):
I don't know... there could be several final one of which provides for the surrender of Captain America (the right ones),
another with the extiction of Human/Mutant race... There will not be Galactus! I don't want a Galactus's final mission
(even if you can access to the Galactus's minigame from this mission)

Sorry for the trouble, I would need to 7/10 maps:
  • A large map with modern building (New York)
  • 4 small (or 1 large) map for Helicarrier (a big "indoor" space like a gym), Avenger Mansion (an House with 6/8 room with a garden), Daily Bugle (an office with 3/4 room) and a Graveyard
  • 3 medium for Genosha (a tropical Island), X-Mansion (a big building with 2 floor and 1 hangar), Hell Dimension (Outland set with a big Gate in the middle of 2 roads)
  • 1 map for Asgard or Hydra's base
  • A big one for the final Mission.

If I'm doing it wrong, tell me what should I do...
 
With this release "official" begin this Project, I contact z.ky (as terrainer), Aradar (as coder) and Myo Sett (as modeler) and Pharaoh_ (as external consultant) these could be the:
"MARVEL TEAM"

If you are still interested post here ... I do not know how we will "organize", I do not know how the teams usually work, but... I hope that we will have a lot of fun in this project! And I hope who someone else can join us... I am hopeful...

Now I think that there should be another terrainer and another coder plus:
2 writer: I will continue to do the most of the work (like in all tasks except the terrain) but I need someone who can check that what I write makes sense.
a "director": for help me in the Cinematic, I like the Cinematic and I would like to insert many Marvel's quotes (logically a Stan Lee's cameo).

The roles are not definitive, (except z.ksy who asked me to do the terrainer, also I'm a very bad terrainer) I still hope that we can help each other and I stll hope that someone else (TEAM or NOT) reply...
For the director's role first we need to "write" the story... you have download the map?
I know it is only a rough version, but what do you think?

I'm working (again) on New York Map, I made some improvements to
Liberty Statue's model (I add a base) and I fix some other terrain...

To celebrate the release of X-Men's movie tomorrow I will upload another version of Tutorial
(almost the same: with some changes... a new Terrain and a different Tutorial for different type of Heroes...)
I'd also add a custom soundtrack (Marvel Ultimate Alliance; Spiderman TAS and X-Men TAS),
a font (one of these: Avengeance Mightiest Avenger; Masked Marvel or Comic Book)
and a new interface (I don't find any suitable in Hive)



I try to add a soundtrack but It didn't work :goblin_cry:

Sadly noone of the "team" has responded :vw_sad: (except Myo Sett, who wants to be a director)...

Now I'm searching someone else who can and want help me. Tell me what you want to do and what should I do...

You should add Carnage!
Skill 1 - I have no idea what the skill should be named, but maybe something like Entangling Roots made red. (Or basically the whole unit trapped in red stuff)
Skill 2 - Sharp Edges - Damages the target enemy unit repeatedly with XX damage, each level increasing how many times he hits the unit. (For example, Level 1 - 2 hits, Level 2 - 3 hits, Level 3 - 3 hits)
Skill 3 - Bloody Jump - Jumps to a target point, each level increases jump range
Ultimate Skill - Maximum Carnage - Hits different units repeatedly (Basically like Deadpool's ultimate)
His normal skill would be either Cannibalize or Critical Strike.
And maybe base his model off the Dreadlord!
 
The normal limit is actually 8 MB and I might do something about that soon. Others already have however those methods aren't useful due to needing a new MPQ or to go to other servers for an edited game.dll.

Let me know when you need help, I will try to help if I can. I might not be able to do much for the next two - three weeks though.

I don't think there is an another method. Since every of Battle.Net server, pvpgn and official have a limit of 8 MB. It is impossible to edit a server that does not belong to you. Since its all about client. Blizzard servers have only official client- that means it is impossible to play on Blizzard's servers with custom client.

My 8 MB Map Size Limit Remover is the only normal option for now.
 
Tashadan's wc2.5 option works well, perhaps using his ideas there would be an idea!

PS - Ok I tried to avoid this thread, I love marvel and I didn't like the idea just be reading the title, but I ended up checking out your models today... I fell In love...
Where do I sign up? I'd love to test this, work on balance Tweeks, I can also host pretty well if you do decide on trying Bnet Multiplayer options.
 

BAD NEWS

I reluctantly decided to delete all release of the Tutorial, because all my models are rejected and I have not figured out why :goblin_wtf:

I make a mistake, I "stolen" this textures: ChaosAxeThrower.blp

But I wanted to give credit to XS-Archangel and to Katana (XS are just re-edited the Katana skin same I did with his texture) I just forgot to write it!

There was also a member pointing you to a project that already has this model (not sure if it's true didn't check). If the model you are uploading is not work of yours, you need to address each artist involved in the creation process. If these artists are active, you need to ask for permission to do so. However, using them in your map does not mean that your map will be rejected - this is completely different.

Pharaoh_ you're kidding, right? You know that I joined this site to get help with my models and that so far many have been proposed (Aradar, Myo Sett, Idaero Ace) but none has helped me until now.

My only mistake was not give credit to XS-Archangel for Wolverine's skin and to Mammoth28 for Venom's texture (This I realy forget) but I upload those model at 3:00 am! They could give me 24 hours to correct these mystakes or we are in a dictatorship?

I hope it is a temporary situation, but if the Staff will confirm their refusal then take up the project and will "benefit" those few who have been able to see my models in the few hours they were public...

Sorry again for the incovenience but I must "protect" my work :zip:

Excuse, but I am a bit 'tired of hearing people complain of my models (texture, wrapping, etc ...) I uploaded those models with the sole objective to give more visibility to my project, I do not care that they give me credit, giving credit to those who want to ...
It seemed to me that many people "rave" about the models, if the Staff does not matter why should it matter to me? My models suck, are bad? So why should I continue with my project? If I am the only one who likes them?

Well take every consideration with a positive note, just because someone doesn't like it, doesn't mean EVERYONE doesn't like it. You can't please everyone. Don't give up because a few bad comments.
Heck I gave some comments too, but i also consider the works one puts into each Model,Skin,Map. Just because it might be too simple to do, doesn't mean it isn't quality work!
Likewise, just because someone spends hours and hours of work into something, doesn't always mean it is quality as well, just keep all things into perspective when basing your thoughts, and above all else, try to be positive!

Yes I'm tired about that too... sorry for my negative perception but my project is on from 1 month and only a few users gave me their support. The upload of my models should be a positive chance, instead It is been an "anticlimax" :vw_unimpressed:... for a while I went away from this forum, I hope to come back soon (as soon as possible) :goblin_yeah:

Why do you get upset? I'm just mentioning why this has happened. Typically, a moderator assumes that you are already familiar with the rules and the resource sections are having pretty tight ones. They can't navigate in your mind to realize you were tired. I understand it, but also understand the moderators who get a bunch of models to review.
Yes, maybe they shouldn't instantly reject them, that's why we have the Staff Contact forum, to evaluate their decision. I really suggest you used it, if you feel mistreated.

If you want to make your project visible, it must have at least one of two things:
1. Having warcraft theme, even though it's 0% complete, people will vote it for project of the month
2. Having displayed terrain with hi res doodads, even though the terrain is obviously unplayable
