Hi all,

After a few days of reading post and tutorials i've Decided to write my first post with my biggest doubt .

I have seen the SLK files and i wonder if it's possible to add new content by editing with Excel tables or something like.

I'm starting an ORPG and my laziness forces me to ask if i can make a table with all the items,abilitys, unitys and his fields and import them later.

The only thing i've seen is the war3map.w3t and how it works, a single line with de id of the new items and the fields who have changed, separated by null characters. I guess unitys and abilitys will work in the same way.

Well, there is something called "Object Data Extractor", which does what you want. But beware - first (it was also last) time I tried to use it - it broke my map xP

Anyways.. you could also manually input the data you need into a hashtable during the map initialization. That requires enourmous amount of time (and effort) tho xP

File specs are here.

The w3t is the item modifications file and not an slk. The slk are the native definitions. You can customize them, but overwriting the path will hide the default data, you would have to tranfer it in your version to keep the standard data. The modification files are map-only and use a binary format. So that won't be directly modifyable via Excel.

I guess there isnt a easy way yo create a lot of similar items, units and abilitys.

No time to procastine :grin:

I have google for lua editor warcraft 3 and i've find de Jass NewGen Pack!! i have dreamed with write code for create objects!!! Maybe it won't be so boring create an ORPG big as i fancied.

Yes, you can edit, but not add as far as I'm aware. Then import the new SLK into your map with the path of the original so it replaces it. I think this work, but have never tried it.

You can add to them. I've added completely new soundsets and tiles, without adding to, or overwriting, existing ones. The problem is the WC3 Editor doesn't recognize them (Unsure as of why) and you can't import the .SLKs into a map, it won't work. So you HAVE to mod your WC3 in order to use them in your maps which isn't all that user-friendly for the people who'd play your map.
