Many of those, like chain lightning, slam and throw do not need to have spell. Maybe that is only required for Models, but I'm 99% sure it isn't required when using GUI play animation. Anyway, here's some reputation, thanks for completing. However, I doubt people know how to use the alternate/swim animation correctly.

As for Spell Breakers, yeah, maybe they have, if Blizzard hadn't the idea of removing it.

Many of those, like chain lightning, slam and throw do not need to have spell. Maybe that is only required for Models, but I'm 99% sure it isn't required when using GUI play animation.

I believe that triggers can custom trigger any animation name you want, the model just has to include it. But for the hard-wired spells to play the correct default animations, I'm pretty sure spell has to be in front of them.

The default spell animations are bugged. Some of them force the playing of an animation even if you change it to another.
Spells like Thunder clap and War Stomp animation's work fine.
I currently forget the ones that do not, I will look them up, , , eventually (do not expect me to answer fully).
