Neat! I've wanted something like this for a while but never took the initiative myself. I'll be following along, good luck moving forward!

Curious.. how is the combat going to play out? Will it be the old school turn based style?

me too... so i decided to make one of my own!
Well about the combat, it will be warcraft system, but i worked the constants to fit the "elements" of the monsters.
For example : Flame attack deal 150% damage to nature, 50% damage to Aquatic, 100% to Flame, 125% to air, 125% to beast, 75% to machine and 75% to shadow types. and so on!
And the skills will all be based on monsters attributes, so the damage wont be flat and will get stronger based on how much you train your monster!
Also im thinking of some improvements to that battle system too.

Anyway, if anyone want to help, its more than welcome (i will need help some to make a map this huge...)!

i'm testing and finishing the basic part so i can release a beta very soon!!!
right now i'm trying to fix the IV part on the save load!

things still need to finish before beta release:
- custom skills
- finish bosses and dungeons design
- make some more items (usable, badges and others)
- make quests
- test it

Very ambitious map my friend. Always loved that concept of summoning monsters like alter egos. Monster Master RPG mod is another good example and maybe you know it. Good luck.

Im almost finishing everything for the beta version!
- more 3 custom skills
- finish the monsters attribute balance
- finish the dungeons spawn zones
- finish the quests.
- create more some items
and i will release the beta!!!
