Map for fans of Hero Defense and map X Hero Siege in particular. There are 29 heroes to choose. They are divided into 4 classes - Damage Dealer/Mage/Support/Tanker and possess non-standard abilities. Division into classes is not so simply. For example - without the mage you cannot quickly kill mobs that will lead to defeat of heroes and the subsequent destruction of the Frozen Throne. As well as in aforementioned X Hero Siege, there are game events, special waves and 5 levels of difficulty. Besides simple potions, ankhs and others, you can choose from 22 items which can be upgraded to four tiers. Fans of World of Warcraft will find in a map familiar names, names of items, models of units, decorations. Players will familiarise with other possibilities and features.



Red player commands:

-kick : kicks a player from the game

General commands:

-skip : starts a voting to skip a boss summoning timer
-clear : removes all game messages from the screen
-random : gives a random hero for player
-repick : gives a chance to repick hero for player
-unstuck : pauses hero for 30 sec and teleports him to fountain
-remove scale : removes avatar scale effect
-show/hide timer : shows/hides game timers
-dt on/off : shows/hides dealed damage text
-rd on/off : shows/hides received damage text
-pt on/off : shows/hides potion restored health or mana
-info : shows information about your hero

Sathrovarr The Corruptor

Dark Explosion
Sathrovarr concentrates a dark energy around target, dealing 60000 magical damage in 3 seconds after cast. Has a 500 AOE and 20 secs cooldown.
Note: Heroes can evade ability damage if they'll leave the explosion area

Expanding Sphere
Sathrovarr creates an expanding sphere around a targeted area. After a while sphere explodes, dealing 150000 magical damage. Has a 350 AOE and 15 secs cooldown.

Mass Cripple
Cripples all enemies around Sathrovarr for 20 seconds. Crippled emenies have a 50% decreased attack damage and attack speed. Has a 800 AOE and 20 secs cooldown.

Impale
Anub'arak slams the ground with massive claws, shooting spiked tendrils out in a straight line, dealing 60000 magical damage and stunning enemies for 1 secs. Has a 20 secs cooldown.

Summon Nerubs
Summons three nerubian assassins around a battlefield. Anub'arak becomes invulnerable until nerubians will die. Has a 30 secs cooldown.
Note: Ability is available since 75% of boss' hp

Mass Curse
Curses all enemies around himself for 20 seconds. Cursed emenies have a 40% chance to miss an attack. Has a 800 AOE and 20 secs cooldown.

Desolation
Dark Spirit prepares his dark power for 2 seconds to eliminate enemies. Silenses them for 10/15/20 seconds, decreases their attack damage by 30/40/50/60% and summons dark waves which deals 100000 magical damage each. Has a 30 seconds cooldown.
Note: The effect of this ability increases at each difficulty level

Crush Strike
Maiev has a 10% chance to deal 4000 bonus damage and stuns a target for 0.5 secs.

Abilities

Soul Burn
Illidan burns 50000 mana of surrounding enemies and deals same magical damage to them. Has a 500 AOE and 20 seconds cooldown.

Crushing Strike
Illidan has a 10% chance to deal 4000 bonus damage and stuns a target for 0.5 secs.

First Phase
Illidan rises into the air, summoning two water elementals on the battlefield. Illidan becomes invulnerable until elementals will die.

Abilities

Crushing Wave
Elemental sends a crushing wave into a target location, dealing 60000 magical damage to enemies on its way.
Note: The maximum wave damage cannot be more than 100000

Frost Missile
Lich King spreads frost missiles around his position. Each missile deals 40000 magical damage per second to nearby enemies. Has a 15 secs cooldown.
Note: This ability is available since 90% of Boss' hp

Frost Cleaver
Lich King sends a massive cold wave, which knockbacks enemies and deals 30000 magical per second. Has a 20 secs cooldown.

Ice Armor
Ner'Zhul's armor cause them to feel lesser debuff effect. Removes all negative buffs every 5 seconds.
Note: This ability is passive

Freezing Breath
Lich King's breath is so cold and slows enemies' movement speed by 40%. Has a 400 AOE.
Note: This ability is passive

Heavy Strike
Ner'Zhul has a 10% chance to knockback his target for 1.5 secs.

Frostmourne
Lich King's frostmourne reduces a target's armor by 50/100/150/200/250.

Soul Absorption
If any hero dies during encounter Lich King gets his soul. Absorbed soul adds 50000 to Ner'Zhul's attack damage and increases the effect of Frostmourne. The absorbed soul is stored while the hero is dead.

First Phase
Lich King falls down on the ground, summoning Frost Giants to help him. Ner'Zhul is invulnerable until Frost Giants will die.

Soul Swap
If any hero will killed by Frost Giant he will restore Lich King's life. The Giant which killed the hero will die in 10 secs.

  • At the start of the game, DO NOT rush a hero, unless you know how to play. There is absolutely nothing more frustrating than someone grabbing your favorite hero, then having no idea how to play it.
  • Dps characters dps, tanks tank, mages cast. Do not build your tank for dps, or dps for tanking, its a really bad idea.
  • If you are a ranged character, get a bow
  • If you are melee, get a sword
  • Sell your Anhks at the start, that gives you 2/3 more items, and you will be a lot stronger
  • When picking your items think about how good they will be late game. The acid waves sword sucks late game, so does the '% chance to block X damage' shield. You are better off with other items, don't waste your cash. The exception is the thorns armour, your tank will probably need this at the start.
  • Use your dragon to buy everything for your character, potions, items, upgrades, even tomes, never leave combat.
  • You can use pots and tomes on your dragon, and the effects go to your hero, if you want you can even place amulets on your dragon and enjoy the regen.
  • Get at least 5 items asap, don't stat or upgrade until you have a full inventory. A stat tome costs 7.5k for 25 stats, where as some items may give you +10 all stats and an extra effect at only 1.5k. Statting is mid/late game only.
  • Do not blindly/randomly upgrade your items, have an order. Dps characters should upgrade their sword/bow first, tanks should upgrade one of their armour items. You can have the upgrade token in your dragon, then drop in your item, so that it upgrades. Use your dragon!
  • Do not rush the Tier 2 spawners, a good pubs team will leave them till after the second bonus, a great team may kill them before that, but they can handle it! Leave this job to someone who is experienced.
  • You may notice there are bonus bosses, do not randomly try them, do them when you know you can do it. And remember that there is only 1 of each boss, so if you take the item then no one else can have it. Do not, for example, take the shard if you are not the best dpser on your team. If you are Druid, and have 100 kills, while your team's Veno has 800, do not take the shard, let him get it. This goes for all the boss items, give it to who will do best with it. I don't want to see Ageis on a mage or dps ever again D=<
  • You will see players push up to get more kills, if you see that everyone has pushed up, but the sides are open, go get the sides! Each of the sides give you 2 lanes if you are the only one there, 2 lanes is better than competing with 5 people for 3 lanes.
  • Gold is shared, XP is not. If you can, get your own lane and kill shit, you will get a whole lot of xp! (XP is shared in 4000 range of died unit - GodLike!'s note)
  • The first event is really easy if you know the technique. Firstly, watch where the blades go, and remember that the coins last the full 2 minutes, and its easier to collect them when there is a lot in one spot. Remember you can walk through the trees, and that the blades always follow the same path. Be patient! There is a max of about 96k, they spawn at 5 second intervals.
  • The second bonus event IS very important, if you do not get max gold from it then you did not use it its max potential. DPS characters that are heavily pimped will rock this event. Remember that it is shared gold, so it is definatly worth pooling your DPS a little extra cash just to make sure you hit the max gold. Veno is a particular powerhouse for this event, if he has his ulti to level 2, and has shard, then he will easily get 2k+ kills

You lured me back to this cesspool with your post on the NoPG boards :p

So here is my mini review and experiences on the map;

The first part of the game is the hero picking, this can be daunting for a new player as each hero is unique and there are a lot of choices, however thankfully the tank/damage dealer/mage/supporter really help to clear things up and let even a new player pick a character that will be fun for them. Something very important to note here is that any hero can be the star of the game, any hero can kill the most, tank the most, or be the best team player. I have seen some great plays over the time I have played this game, including tanking with Hydros, dpsing with Pitlord, and even boss hunting with the Healer (forgot his name :3). That said, new players should stick to playing the hero by its class until they can play well enough :p

The start of the game can be pretty brutal, it is very important to remember that this is a game of skill, the thinking mans X-Hero siege if you will :] You cannot just split up and have everyone tank and dps on their own, you need team work! This is the part that I really like, where you and your comrades actually have to talk to each other in order to win.

The items are many and varied, I am pretty experienced, but still it takes me a while to choose my 6 items, often trying to pick items that not only complement my play style, but also to deal with the challenges (boots and ice shield for the first one, and crit claws for the second), and even depending on my team (ice wand in a fragile team and maybe shoulderpads even). This is great, I actually have to think instead of just 'cookie cuttering' my item build. What's more, with the item upgrade my items progress just like I do!

The challenges are great fun, and a great change of pace. However the weak point of the map is the special bosses (the ones you need to go through the portal for). Only allowing each boss to be killed once means that each item can only be attained twice. Often I find that I have to pick between the saftey of my team, and the item, as I will have to abandon my team in order to beat rival characters from taking the items (often ill advisdly, sword on mage, shield on dpser, etc). This breaks the team work structure down a little bit, as does the Warlord only dropping 2 upgraders :3

That said, fighting the bosses is pretty fun, and often I feel like the battle is balancing on a knife edge, and I am really having to fight hard. At other times however they can be monotonous, the bosses need more special abilities, like the Ghost and Beetle have :D

The main downfalls of the game are also the lack of real challenge during the waves, I mean, when wave 2 spawns it is tough, but then you get stronger and creeps stay the same, leaving you once again godly. The other main downfall is that you don't really have much to do once you kill the second set of spawns, and those bosses arnt the most exciting. The last major downfall is the imports, they aren't necessary! Map size IS important, you could make the same map without any imports and it would be a lot smaller, faster to load, and it would still look completely beautiful. You don't absolutly need the imports, so don't use them :D Well, the exception being the Lich King of course n_n


Oh, I would also like to mention I love the 'retro' feel of the game. When Illidan spawns, man, that is cool. The massed special effects really takes you back. I love the way the map doesnt try to be 'really really really special and perfect'. It isnt a polished map, and it doesn't pretend to be. The terrain isn't magnificant, but it isn't the star of the show, it fits the game and blends in.

All in all, the game feels whole, and feels retro. Even though I have beaten it numerous times I still feel like it is a challenge, and I still want to replay it. This makes it a pretty great game in my opinion. (Who cares about fancy imports, polish, terraining, etc, we all know that doesn't make a boring map fun!)

Important bug: LOL, so many comments and nobody saw the main bug?????? OMG guys -.- this bug makes the game fucking boring and here it is: you know the second event where we farm creeps for gold, BUT the orange location is too close to the bridges (this is on the right side of map, where the bridges connect the beginning isle with the boss isle). When the 2nd event ended, we beaten all waves and we just went to anub arak from the right side.(on the way we saw that the range heroes can kill more from this creeps ... The orange location is too close to us and ... made 10 times about 1 million gold and we got stats like 15k and was no interest ://///////// we beaten all bosses without using a potions lol so please fix this bug its easy but it ruins all your work on the bosses !!!!!!

I was playing on one of the bots on the azeroth server and after many games with totally incompetent players I really started to get pissed off.

One of the things that pissed me off was my allies lack of defending from incomming waves. As a result 1 leaked and hit the building 1-2 times and we lost. Honestly there needs to be a better buffer for defeat as late game any leak = loss. Then again the map is called impossible defense so I guess it is pretty matching lol.

You have any plans of making a map like this for SC2?

Melee damage heroes seem to be at a major dis advantage compared to ranged ones. The ranged ones might not have splash like cleaving attack but they hit multiple targets for full damage (not 40% damage) and on top of that do not need to waste as much time moving compared to melee damagers.

For example, I went the bucher abomination hero. Its massive damage allows it to kill stuff very quickly thanks to its str multiplyer but it can not compare to the ranger hero with maximum multi shot weapon or the poision mancer with the same. Yes in clusters it is better but for killing waves the distribution means that your cleave only hits 4 units at 40% damage where the range damagers hit 6 or so targets due to their long range at full damage. I am aware that unlike multishot, cleave damage does lifesteal so it has a healing advantage in mobs but still the kills in the second event talked for itself. The ranger was killing much more units than I was despite me having more damage due to the way cleave works.

I do understand that they are meant to have a damage/tank role to a degree but currently everyone goes piority for the ranger damagers over the melee ones purly because they are more effective at killing mobs. Their differences vanish against bosses cause multishot and cleave do not really play a serious part in them as single target DPS is all that maters.

This moves on to a problem with the one abomination hero. Its strength multiplyer (a major move for it) requires constant feeding off corpse minions to support and you can only get those from killing stuff which you cant during most of the boss battlest meaning it essentilly becomes usless/unusable. Additionally it requires the corpse catapult ability to be usable in the first place which is not a default move. Thus it is capable of learning a move which is usless until another move is learned to atleast level 1 and which becomes unusable end game due to lack of supply. This seems like a rather major design flaw with the hero.

Anyway, the tooltips need quite a bit of work, A lot of abilities are unclear as to exactly what they do or how they work.

Make sure both of you are using the same version of client (LAN only, battlenet will alwas make sure you are uptodate).

Make sure you are both using macs or windows, cross OS compatibility is not very good in WC3 and can result in the different opperating systems splitting due to local bugs.

Awww its a WC3 map... SC2 really needs a hero defense like this.

Anyway good to see you working on a substitute for it. I enjoyed this map quite a bit a few years back.

A sujestion is to make it that the structure you defend eithor take logarithmic damage or to survive a certain number of hits. This would reduce the problem of 1 late leak ending the game.

as to impossible siege 2 features:
  • Custom battle system(A lot of dynamic parameters like block amount, spell power, bonus healing and others)
  • Trippled items count(Each item has 4 ways to upgrade and each way has at least two tiers)
  • Each hero class will play only his own role(This means that the healer has only healing abilities, not damaging)
  • Really epic bosses
  • Great code optimisation

are you sure that the desync is cause of the langue-packs? if all players play german and come from german 2 or 3 get kicked anyway

ok i have downloaded this map few days ago, and i cant say anything bad about it, its great, i played alot of this sort of maps and this one is sure in top 3, i see u talk about IS2, is it out yet or still in development? for IS1 10/10

Impossible Siege 2 is out. Just the map moderators on this site have rejected it for a prety stupid reason (well stupid in my opinion as a SC2 moderator). Basically it had ported models from WoW and they do not seem to like WoW models in WC3 maps.

It's because WOW models contains alot of unnecessary stuff which cannot be displayed into WC3. If they can get a handy modeler to remove all the useless stuff it might get approved. (Or maybe they already took care of it before lol)

oh okaj no big deal hahah, il stay at IS1, will be there any more versions after 0.55? im on this at the moment, the sad thing is not many ppl know how to play and upgrade tiers in late game and we mostly lose couz they have no items that could handle lurker and stuff. btw gread scenes on ilidans summoning
