I usually try to hide the fact that I'm host because a lot of impatient people get abusively angry (especially in the 8pm-10pm crowd) at the host, because I tend to let the 56kers download in most of the games I host, and then the ppl I let download who did it in 5 seconds start spamming go go go go go, or wtf? host boot the lagger! host boot the lagger!
I have a very short allowance span for that crap and usually boot the spammer, at which point the angry spammer tends to rejoin the game and lash out at whoever's in the red spot. (Presumably the host, but this host doesn't sit in Red anymore)
So then the player sitting in red's spot is left with the problem of describing to the angry player exactly why he's getting booted and why were not starting the game. Usually that player says, Can't, or I'm not host, or tells the angry player to stop pissing off the host, or sometimes they'll even say, cause your being a dick.
At which point the angry spammer becomes absolutely infuriated and tells Player Red that he is no good, a bad host, and a bunch of other mean words. (particularly if I decide to ban the player from my game, and keep booting him off whenever he rejoins.
At this point the game is either full or lacking a few more ppl, and the angry spammer finally either gives up or gets stupider, looks at the downloads in custom games, figures out exactly who the host is, and starts blasting me.
At that point I tend to simply tell them in a calm manner that their behavior is completely unacceptable in my game, and that they are banned from all games hosted by me.
I then close their slot and start the game.
After 2 months of consistantly doing this, and also survived being hounded by someone using the name SilverSongisaFag. I've finally earned a decent enough reputation on Battlenet as a fair host.
