Ideas needed for my map!

I've come to a little stop with my arena map, it was supposed to have 4 teams but for some reason the multiboard was always bugging when more than 2 teams playing at the same time (don't know why) so I removed 2 teams. Now I have 2 unused zones that used to be the bases of the teams that were removed, this is the part where you guys come in: I want to use these two zone for something but I don't know for what. What it shouldn't be is: shop areas and/or hero choosing areas. The 2 zones that are marked with the red stripes are the zones I need ideas for. Both credits and +rep will be rewarded for the ideas I'll use.

P.S: This is the first image of the terrain that is out to the public, there is only 2 other persons that has seen the terrain except me before this picture was uploaded.

ok lets see..... shops, maybe. maybe some sort of thing the teams should try and control(ressurection zones, etc). maybe bosses spawn there every so often, and go on rampage until somebody kill them, then they drop epic lootz. a wise old sage that looks like hes important, whenever somebody approach him he telepots to the other zone, this has a 2 sec cooldown, if you manage to reach him(by two guys approaching the two zones at the same time), he gives you something cool.

ok, i've got an idea:
1st area is a secret shop area. after each fight a hero has a smaaaal chance to get teleported there (may be higher chance if the hero stays the last of his team alive in the end of the match, or smth). there he can buy some cool items and such.

2nd area can be either a secret shop area for the other team (different teams may have access to different items) or an area with a tough, but soloable mob. if u kill him - u get some cool item or a buff, if he killz u - u get some kind of debuff or miss next round. (higher chance to get into monster's area may be caused by being a noob (like dying 1st 3 times in a row or smth) or smth) =))))

A cannon of some sorts that shoots a very slow but extremely destructive bullet over a long distance.
Make it so players can take control of the cannons for their team.

a bit wild idea: there will be small arenas (with their own buff/debuff auras or other twists) and sometimes (on a random timer) couples of players (even aybe from the same team) will be teleported there. after, like, 30 seconds, they are both deleported back

You can give each of the teams one of those zones that they can call their 'own', where the teams taverns will be located.

You can also add extra stuff there like if you want your hero to specialize in lets say fire,earth or water (each hero can have his own specializations, like in WoW) then there can be a circle of power for each of those and then each player gets a wisp and when the wisp runs into the circle the hero owned by that player will maybe get a new spell and/or model and better stats maybe. Giving the hero a spec will obviously cost gold and you can maybe have a kill or score cost aswell, like 'To specialize you need 1000 Gold and at least 10 kills (kills wont be deducted when you specialize ofc)

Hope this gives you some ideas :p

I would like to hear your opinions of this:
If I make a dueling area of one of the two zones on what conditions would two players (enemy players) duel each others? I wouldn't like it to be like you challenge another player since then you could spam a challenge to a player that has a hero that is much lower leveled than you (I have done that as long as your not in your base you gain exp equal to 1 level per minute) any ideas for how the dueling should start and how the duellers should be chosen?

they can be chosen on a random basis right in combat, as i suggested before.
OR
after X fights two best players are chosen
AND/OR
after X fights two worst players are chosen...
OR
on random basis but not in combat

There aren't rounds like in WoW arena :cute: when you die you have a to wait a small time before you respawn and can join the battle again, if you leave your base you can't return for a minute (and bases are locked untill someone has been died)

On the dueling choosing, I though it would be that when someone gets lets say 10 points (1 point is gained per kill, 3 points is gained for first blood) that someone would be teleported to the dueling area to wait for the next person who gets 10 points. (if it's from the same team I don't know what will happen) Maybe dueling should only be allowed in Deathmatch (free for all) but I'm not sure :con: more oppinions please :cute:

Yes but that would lead to someone from the other team might get to 10 points before another player from the same team as the player who was first to get 10 points. But yes it would be fatal (that's why I though that dueling is only in free for all)

Well I was asking for ideas (taverns and shops are in the bases so those are not needed anymore) and the ideas I've got besides shops and taverns is specialising in one of three elements, a cannon (can't see that working out since you could just camp your base and use the cannon), a strong creep/boss (big no no since I want pure pvp combat and the zones aren't that big really)

actually i was thinking 'bout random periods of time for picking players for duel.

but i have 1 moar idea: whenever a team has only 1 player left alive, that player and the other team's best player are ported to the duel ground. both are healed to the max hp. all other combat may be halted for the time being, the one who wins the duel will earn a bonus (rare vendor, strong buff, mass heal, etc.) to his team

Try some bosses. Maybe make a boss or something spawn there every so often, given that the previous boss is dead.
That way, it makes it more entertaining and maybe the boss drops an item or something.

Otherwise, you could try a mini-dungeon. It would be something new and never before seen in an arena (I think).

I really need some ideas! I'm going to make a dueling area but I need to have some conditions on when someone will duel another player (random times can be a pain since then it could happen really often some times and never some other times.. And those ideas with bosses, I like them but I'm not quite sure I can make a boss fighting area in that small of a zone. What do you think of a caster unit for each player that can cast diffrent types of abilities? I'm not talking about abilities that deal dmg but abilities like sleep (or something like a stun that dissapears when you hit the stunned target) sentry ward and such.

what about some kind of mini-game/riddle/puzzle, that will give your team a bonus when solved, but it will take time, so your team will have to carry on without one player for some time?

erm, dunno, never made one =)

smth like two levers and a text. the player must decide from the text which lever to pull. 1 lever is buff, another is instant death to the player that ulled it. i'm not good at riddles, so can't think of any good text =))

Just tossing in a random idea:

The top corner room could be a flag room, where a flag item would spawn every so often (5-10 minutes). Once the flag is picked up, it would have to be carried to the bottom corner. If a hero carrying the flag is killed, he drops the flag. When the flag is taken to the bottom corner portal, the hero will have to run to the shrine in the bottom corner room. This will allow for more fighting before the flag is finally turned in. After turning in the flag, gold or exp bonus is awarded to the winning team.

It would add a fun upset to the gameplay that would keep the players interested. And also allow you more of a chance to give heroes different useful specialities. Such as survivability, or running quickly.

ideas for the riddle(using trillium's two levers idea):
above one of the levers, it reads:
"This level speaks lies. The other speaks the truth"
