I feel quite stupid about starting points

I finally figured out how to force starting races (though that seems to me an overly drawn out process - why can't I just set the players starting race in one obvious spot? Why do I have to go into more settings so I don't see Humans at the starting point when I've obviously selected Night Elves for player 1's starting race? - anyway, a gripe for another time)

My new problem is that I can't even SET a starting point for player 2 now that I have set the force properties to fixed player settings. How can I set the starting point for player 2? I feel like I must be doing something really dumb, but I just can't figure it out.
