Hyperion Legend RPG 1.0b Created by JosiahMX773 and tested by MrYoZoH (To all those who downloaded the map, please redownload it again because of the hot fix this new download contains, this new map has reduced lots of lag and improve the map's AI)
Map Info:
(All that you need to know will be played for 5 minutes at map initialization!)
This is an RPG map which is based on various Online Games. Shadowflare is highly credited for the names of factions and other bosses, Ragnarok Online for the refining ideas, and Warcraft III for the engine. Please, try it and have fun!
Features:
Basic Info:
You will begin with an over-noob peasant and requires you to level up and stuff. At level 17, you can choose your first job, either swordsman, mage, or mechanic. Then at level 47 at these classes, you can choose your 2nd job class, depending on which you chose, crusader, Wizard, and Engineer. And again, at level 47 of these classes, you can learn your omega skill, your most powerful skill and mostly used to turn the tables on your enemies.
Leveling System:
The level of the creep you're killing must be higher than yours to gain exp, so camping is not an option. Everyone here are heroes, even the creeps, so leveling will be faster than killing usual underlings. (The average player reaches 1st job class at level 47 in 30 minutes, or so I did). The maximum level is 80, but I think that's impossible to reach unless you're really devoted cause the highest leveled mob at the top is level 75, only the bosses such as dignosis are leveled at 80.
Skill System:
Skills cooldowns are very fast, average at about 8 seconds, so expect a lot of button mashing. Omega skills are excluded as they have 30 seconds as the maximum cooldown, well, they are so powerful so a good nerfing was needed (Ultima skills are mid powerful skills that has quick cooldowns). Most likely, skill spamming results in accidentally clicking your enemy target and this gets annoying overtime, so a trigger was created so that when you click at another unit except shops, the selection will return to your character immediately.
Dueling and Battle System:
Don't underestimate NPC units and town guards, you'll get killed as they are equipped with an optimized AI and will seriously challenge you to the the bone, unless if you're really leet. Plus, there's a 20% chance of dropping items when killed so the rewards are generous upgraded items. Also, you can type "/duel" (without quotes) to instantly destroy alliance terms with your ally player, and there's no alarms, confirmation or stuff so it can be used after making them help you kill bosses then quickly typing this and kicking their asses. "IT'S ALL MINE BISH! GTFO!". (PS:Attacking allied town guards will make them aggressive too, but if 30 seconds have passed without them or you attacking, it will revert. This doesn't aply to the /duel command, although it will only end when one of you dies, either on a mob, or in each other's sword, staff, whatever!)
Item Upgrade and Refining System:
There's an epic item refining system that let's you upgrade your items using the item's corresponding elixir up to +9. Each upgrade increases all of it's attributes (eg: Armor +1 Defense:+5 HP Regeneration:+6 HP Bonus:+275), so it's pretty kewl and epic. There's a catch though, you can upgrade all items safely at +4, but when it exceeds the safe zone, there's a chance of your item suddenly vanishing...yeah, epic destruction. Although the chance depends on how high the upgrade is, so if you fail at +5, you're a pretty unlucky guy as the chances of that happening are a bit slim, but if you reach +9, it's hammer time!
Faction War:
One of the most exciting feature of this map, THE FACTION WAR! Every 30 minutes, everyone will be teleported to a camp (or rather an empty space on the map), and gives you 1 minute to prepare, then everyone will be teleported again to the arena where everyone from their faction will fight to the death. There's an emperium at the top-end part of the arena and if destroyed, will enable an entrance that contains loads of gold for you to munch on for 30 seconds (The gold depends on how many deaths are on the arena, so kill each other more, even your allies! Joke!). After all that, everyone who survived will be teleported outside near the first boss, so it's still a party! (PS:If you die, you can still get to the arena by going to the tower of altecia at the middle of meskia forest.)
Bosses and Unique Items:
Defeating a boss gives you unique items and orbs, such as a +10 item, overpowered orbs and such. They are scattered all around the map so if you find one, then it's time to find a friend to bring it down, and to wipe out all those noob enemy players who are trying to kill it (Or just wait until it's life is red then move in and use an omega skill, LOL!).
Towns and Guards:
Each town is plagued with different monsters and levels, Berini being the easiest to level with as they are filled with level 15 and 10 mobs, but it has guards as noobs. Losmans as the normal one for they are filled with all average joes. Ento being the hardest as they are filled with level 20 and 25 mobs, but has epic guards and level 80 wizards that sure pack a punch when provoked.
And many more!
That's all I can say for now, why not just discover the others for yourselves, hmm?
Some else stuff about map:
It's protected and optimized to load quick (deleted most unused entries and stuff). Still, it's a huge map and might still take a minute to load so be patient!
Known Bugs:
Most likely, when the Faction War starts, your system will lag and kaputt. This is because instead of teleporting the guards to fight for the faction war, they are randomly created each faction war, so the unit population will increase by 50% per faction war. A fix will come soon, but please bear with it for now, or try closing some of your apps background.Another thing is when you play the game too long after the faction wars, a critical game-stopping error will occur, this is
because of the above mentioned bug, the unit limit probably reached it's point after 100% unit additions so it crashes. After I fix the bug above, this will be fixed too...I hope!
EDIT: Everything should be fixed now.

Author's notes:
I've been making and goofing off with maps since I was 12, and most of the maps I created was deleted when I stupidly got virused and quick reformatted my PC. It's been years since and now, I actually created a map that I think is worthy of this site, I know it gets old quick and it will be a long time before my next creation, probably when I find a good friend who takes interest in these kinds of things, creating maps, triggers (especially the refining system, man that was bloody), and time management (who put this here?). Maybe next time I'll actually create a map that suits what others likes, not an obscure parrotting of an MMORPG. Well, whatever, who'd think that I'd use this part of the description as my biography? LOL, nevermind. More, importantly, have fun with it as much as you like, as much as possible; with friends and others for maximum fun. Thank you.
Uhhh...More jobs? But just created three to ease up on the balancing, I'm just one man with a dream lol. Well, at least from a peasant, there's a 1st job, then a 2nd job. The 2nd jobbers will change the game. Lol, I'm a bit rushed on the screenies, I just pic'ed them.
EDIT: The funny thing is, the pic DOESNT have any relation with the map, sorry about that. It's an rpg game.
I havent really focused on the terrain, I was focusing on the job, gameplay, and balancing. But yeah I'll try to improve it. Oh yeah, I did a hot fix that fixes another epic bug.
Looking at the unique button mashing system and quick cooldowns, I'd suggest a hero with skills that synergize very well when used in a specific(or flexible) combo skill order.
Um, please be more specific. I made the other classes' skills not combo-able for balancing purposes. The wizard though is a bit more 'flexible'. Or did you mean for specific types of battles? NAA!!! I don't understand, please elaborate.
Oh yeah, the overspacing is due to the notepad format I used to create the BBC code Kobas gave me. Oh, I'll try to work on it.

I dont understand the idea of non-combo-able skills == balanced, you can balance it while making them combo-able but ofc its up to you...
anyway looks nice...
you could just add more classes on future updates etc if you want (more classes not more job heirarchy meaning up to 2nd job is okay but maybe add more 1st and 2nd job options)...
I think you should edit the abilities (I dont like the fact that the abilities name show up when used with their hotkeys before the name) If you're using name of ability being cast, you can just remove the [hotkey] before the ability name and just maintain the [hotkey] on the tooltip...
I'll try removing the hotkeys and such. I added an acolyte (1st job) and a priest (2nd job) before but the balance got focked up. I can't kill crap as if they spammed the priest with 5 +7 armors and hp pots. Adding more jobs is a bit going to be hard because I dont really have that much time and im just one guy, the other one (MrYoZoH) gave up on me. Think of it as a forced port, but I did my best. I was thinking of using the wood resource as gems as rewards from killing players and changing the timer to just the food used (minutes)/food max (seconds). I would add jobs but it would be done by mixing different 1st and 2nd jobs. (Example: 1st job Swordsman then you bought 2nd job Wizard = Sage, both swordsman and magician with four totally different skills and one aura with two powers but halved (both brilliance and defense). Nah, It'll take me weeks to do that since I have exams coming. I'll try on the easier things first.
The damage, skill used, and everything display is because this is 'an obscure parotting of an MMORPG', have you ever played one? Remember all those titles on top of your character? yep. Ill try removing the hotkeys on the damn skill name display. and please give me some more suggestions that will make the map bettter and balanced. Thanks!
Okay, I have no idea how I'm going to remove those hotkeys from the damn spell title displays, But I reduced lag heavily on this third hotfix...nah. Someone help me! (Plus better AI Response!)

Well, yeah, I guess the influence of the fun in RPGs are still in me. At least I know what I need now, a better idea...well thanks anyway for clearing it up for me.

~ That was probably the best reaction for (more or less) constructive criticism I've given since I joined this community and it's probably the reason why I'll point out just a few things :
1) Your definition of an RPG and my definition of an RPG are probably the same, yet it's not in the general area of "concept" that major flaws are present, but more-so as expectations : The RPG at hand is just another one of those RPGs and really doesn't inspire much potential to me.
2) In later maps, or RPG attempts , maybe you could theme the RPG and thus make it unique. I've seen Troll RPGs, Gnoll RPGs, Panda RPGs (wait, what?) etc. ; So by borrowing this idea, you're creating something of your own, without having to be tied to a monotonous "blue-print" or the same "Human vs." scenario.
3) Add a twist to your maps / RPG : (hope this isn't advertising) Look for Arcadia : Rise and Fall or Chernobyl - Lost Riddles by Grevious , if I'm not mistaken. Not RPGs by definition, but mods with great story-lines and intricate game-play elements.
4) Lastly : before you do any of the above, try to better yourself. Not in what areas people think you lack, but it areas you know you lack. You might become a better terrainer, better skinner, modeler and so on, if you really want to succeed in bringing something new and exciting to the Hive (which by the way, I hope you do).
Well, in truth, I wasn't really taking this map-making career to seriously, I wanted to create something fun, well, fun for myself and those other RPG freaks I know. And yeah, making another map will be a long run for me since I have lots to do now unlike last year when I started making this map. Okay, I'll play that map you recommended, (well I think that's advertising. =3) thanks again.
- Has a quest menu
- The environment behaves quite well
Negative features:
- I attacked a unit of purple for fun and then they become my enemy for the rest of the game? Just make the attacker stop...
- Terrain could be better
- Should have more playable characters
- Could use some kind of leader / multiboard for kills or something similar
Additional Information / Conclusion:
Just do something against the above mentioned things. Good Luck.

Okay, the attacking your allies stuff should only be temporary (about 30 seconds it should revert). I dunno what the hell . The inability to play in multiplayer stuff might be related to your Warcraft III version.
Oh and by the way, I lost the unprotected version of the map. Courtesy of fail hard drives. I'm currently trying to deprotect it but apparently I'm lacking a windows library file and I couldn't integrate it with Windows 7.
Soooooooo, the map sucks anyway so screw this. I'll just try and create something else.
