I've checked out several of the tutorials and they were not very upfront about it. PRoblem is I want to import A LOT of skins without replacing any of the existing ones. This is a mod of another (dead) game and I aquired lots of skins recently. Please, any help appreciated. THanks

Magos: http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/tools-560/war3-model-editor-62876/

But actually, you don't need to follow the whole tutorial, just open the model in magos, open texture manager, and right click>Import, and select your skin.
Then you open the material manager, and click on the materials until you find a window with a skin path in a drop down box. If it is the model skin, replace it with the path of your own skin.
Make sure you change the skin path in ALL materials that have the original skins path.

After that you can delete the original skin from the texture manager. But you don't need to.
