About the Map
About the Map
The map is, as said, an AoS map. That means every player will control one hero and make this hero more powerful while the game is running. You will kill enemies to increase your heros level. Gain new abilities and make your current abilities stronger and better. You'll buy items for your hero to increase the power of the hero. All players are divided into two teams, The Corrupted and The Outcasts, each team will contain five players. In order for a team to win, the team will have to destroy the enemie teams main building, but it will take some battle to get to it. The main building is protected by strong guard towers and enemie units are almost always defending it.

This is much of the basic things I think everyone knows.
The Story behind Heroes of War


Heroes of War - Story

It has now been 179 years since Arthas was defeated by the great nations combined, but the world was not yet in peace, the war still raged on causing endless misery and chaos.
With the Lich King defeated, the nations once again began to fight each other. Years past and the wars only got worse, as a result the nations summoned massive gods of destruction, trying to get an edge in the war; but only more chaos was born with those summoned gods.

There were a total of eight gods summoned, fighting each other, tearing the world into bits and pieces. However, after a while the gods got tired of the endlessly raging war and the destruction it caused; so they turned against their own masters and broke free from their command.

With the world almost destroyed, the gods defeated their former masters and the remaining nations were ought to restore the badly damaged world.
Only two nations (The Corrupted, The Outcasts) survived the rage of the gods and yet again started to reestablished new cities and armies. Even with the world torn apart, the nations could not forget their past wars and the dispute continued deep inside an old. Now fighting for their very survival or until they fall into the Gods rage.

The Corrupted is an army of terrifying creatures living deep inside forgotten forests and swamps. They grew stronger and stronger while the world was trying to defeat the Lich King. When the world turned into absolute chaos after Arthas death they saw their opportunity to seize power and ran over all enemies they came across with their army of corruption. They are also the ones responsible for the summoning of the God of Immortality, that later pushed them back, forcing them to flee to the very deepths they came from.

The Outcasts is an army of Bloodelfs and demons, they are very self-centered, driven by the will of getting stronger by enhanced magical powers and massive constructions. They didn’t really care about the war but they knew they were going to be affected by it sometime and made a decision to enter the war, testing their magical powers and combat skills on enemies. They are the ones responsible for summoning the God of Vortex that like the other Gods also pushed their masters back to where they came from destroying them utterly with overwhelming power.
New heroes will rise, new kins will be discovered, deadly creatures to be faced and old kings will be on the top of determination in the epic battle to survive in the new god controlled world.

Features

Now about the features of this map. I'll make a list of all the features:

* Current Features

The map will, probably, at its release, contain atleast 54 unique heroes. Each hero will have atleast one triggered spell, ofcourse there are heroes with more triggered spells. All heroes will hopefully be as much balanced as possible.

Each hero will have four (4) abilities and one (1) Attribute Bonus ability.
Three (3) of those abilities are basic abilities with a maximum upgradeable level of five (5).
One (1) of those abilities is the Ultimate ability with a maximum upgradeable level of three (3).



At the beginning of the game, the host will currently be able to select one of five game modes:
Allpick (-AP), Allrandom (-AR), Randompick (-RP), Random Tavern (-RT), The Chosen Heroes (-CH)


When the host selects this Game Mode, all players will be able to choose any hero they want to play with.

Repick Enabled: True



When the host selects this Game Mode, all players will get one random hero each, they will not be able to select any hero

themselves.

Repick Enabled: True



When the host selects this Game Mode, all players will get a list of three heroes. The three heroes at the list are randomized. In

order to select a hero the player will have to type either -Pick 1, -Pick 2, -Pick 3 in the game-chat.

Repick Enabled: False



When the host selects this Game Mode, all taverns except one tavern will be deleted from the map. This order players to just

select heroes from one random tavern instead of all five. Otherwise this Game Mode is like the Allpick Game Mode.

Repick Enabled: False



When the host selects this Game Mode, all players will pick a hero in turn. Player one (1) begin picking a hero, then it's player

sixs (6) turn to select a hero and then player two (2), and it will continue until everyone got a hero.

The special thing about this Game Mode is that each player will have four heroes randomized for themselves at the beginning

of the game. Noone will know which hero that will be able for a player.

This is how it looks when the host shall select a Game Mode for the game:

The map will contain two duel areas, every x second, one random player from each team will be picked and will have to

kill its opponent. Both dueling heroes will start with full HP & MP and with no cooldowns.
The winner of the duel will be teleported back to its previous location and the defeated player will have to wait for a respawn.
The winner will also earn 200 extra gold, while the winners team will earn 100 gold.

(The battlefield will be paused until the duel or the duel-timer ends)



Every x second, units will be created both for The Corrupted and The Outcasts at all lanes (varies with the

game mode). The units will not be the same all the time, it varies between two wave groups.
As an extra feature: Every x second a stronger unit will be created to aid the team in battle.

Every team will have towers, defending the main base from enemie attacks. Players are able to aid those towers with three

special abilities in a special building called: Forbidden Secrets. Those three abilities are:

Outside the battlefield you can find two mini-bosses with a special loot, that you only can get from those mini-bosses.

A Water Elemental with a lot of HP and very strong frost attack. Sometimes it may succeed to stun you.
It's recommended to kill this mini-boss togheter.

A very powerful creature. Its HP is a lot more than a hero ever could achieve and its attacks are very powerful. Its abilities is

unknown...
You should kill this mini-boss togheter, everyone...



I've created a simple multiboard, that will show every player:

* Current Game-Time (Top-Left)
* Time until the next duel (Top-Right)
* Players are sorted into two categories (team based)
* Respawn timer (if the players hero is dead)
* Hero icon
* Players name & the player heros name
* Player heros current level
* Kills/Deaths
* Total Kills/Deaths of the team (Patch 1.3.0a)

You are able to upgrade your teams units. You can increase their attack damage or armor for the cost of 500 gold.

This upgrade can be bought at the Forbidden Secrets building.

(Every 8th minute the units attack damage will be increased for free)



The terrain is made by me, it may not be the best, but I like it and I think it's well made. Improvements may come.

A quest system will be created, allow players to do some on-topic quests to earn some rewards while playing.

This is a kinda unique idea for a map like this I think. We thought, why do maps like this always have to be about killing

eachother?
That's why we're going to add this game mode:


SURVIVAL GAME MODE (Damn the Gods (DtG))

The survival game mode is a survival contest between the teams. It's about that every team will have to defend its own main

building from waves of attacks. It will be five waves every round before a boss will appear with powerful abilities, doing

everything to destroy the main buildings.

This is what we've planned at the moment. We've allready written about all the bosses, stats, abilites and such. The only thing

that's left is creating them.

Why should we change the chat system, custom chat systems is slow and not better than the original chat system.

Do you really know what you're talking about? What has triggers and JASS to do with imported models? Nothing... About the loading screen we may update it, not change it. // Flood

Hi.

I just found this map, when i will have enough time, then i will test it :D

But some suggestions, after the screenshots:
The first thing what i found, and what i very hate in EVERY map is the key binding and positioning. I saw the pics, and as i saw, the spells are just "thrown" to the interface, and they don't have a normal binding. I suggest you to fix the position of the icons, and create an unified key-bind for every character. For example in my map i use "Q, W, E, R, S, D" for every character. "Q-W-E-R" for the basic 4, "S" for the Focused bonus ability, which is the same for every hero, and "D" for the last, 5st ability.

And I saw the vodoo hunter's passive ability. If you use the Passive icon for the spell, then use the passive icon for the buff too. Looks a bit strange (in my opinion)

Some word about the bases:
I think the place of the 2 fountains looks a bit empty. Maybe you could try to fill them with something.
And the visibility modifiers: why? why did you add them? I can't say anymore about them, i think the map should be better without them.

Pros:
-Great terraining
-I like the starting multiboard (about the game modes)
-nice spells, icons and chars
-upgradeable towers, with custom abils

Ohh, a last thing: the character selection! very tired of the character selection system. Taverns... ok, it's quite hard to make something new and good at the same time, but every map uses taverns... it's very boring. (haha, it was easy to make the character selection of my map: it's a mortal kombat based "arena/rpg/wtf" map, so i made the original mks' character selection screen :D)

Btw the map looks good, as i said, when i have enough time, then i will try it in-game :D

(ooh, and sorry my english, i'm hungarian, and beginner in english (i choose german, when i was able to learn english....)

First of all, your english is understand able and that's good, so don't complain your english.

Anyway, now to your "map"-comment. First of all, I've already told people that the screenshots are extremely outdated and we will add more updated ones when we've got time. So, the spells DO have hotkeys and positions ordered by: "Q, W, E, R" and special abilities are assigned to "T". Even the items in the shops have hotkeys to their position:
Q, W, E, R
A, S, D, F
Z, X, C, V

so this is already fixed :)

About the fountain I've already remaded the terrain there, play the map and you'll see :)

I've planned to make something about the hero selection system, something like a full graphical interface (or something else) to it, but I won't do that yet, in the future maybe.

Do try it in-game and then post a full review if you have time, it would be greatly appreciated! +rep

Well, because that model greatly complements his theme.

How about the visual changes for the items?

I specifically picked those items because
• It either has an imported icon and there are better icons in-game or;
• It has a bad icon and there are better icons in-game.

And also that they have weird, unsuitable names, that's why I also changed their names.

Second. Regarding Towers. Again, Old News is Old News
I definitely think that you should lower their attack and armor.
Why?
Numbers are too high and you already have many buffs for your towers.
You already have an attack damage-buff, an attack speed-buff, an armor-buff, and some more for your towers.
Due to the fact that you could give them different buffs, don't you think lowering their numbers balances them?
Not by much, more like...
1st tower - 100-125 damage; 15 armor
2nd tower - 125-150 damage; 18 armor
3rd tower - 150-175 damage; 21 armor
4th/Base towers - 175-200 damage; 24 armor

Third, the Crazy Furbolg.and Rejected Angel
For Crazy Furbolg
Since the last one I suggested was a bit of a fail, I'll make up for it.
Why not use either one of these models?

They fit the color-scheme of the outcast, which is purple/violet, and they corrupt enough to be a part of the Corrupted

- Second, decrease his attack damage to 28-38 damage(Chaos) Why? With his AS-buff and Critical Strike, he could at least have a low attack damage to balance things out.

- Then we have his new skill set

Troll Rage (ACTIVE)
- Increase attack speed by 40%, but increase damage taken by 10%
- Last for 15 seconds
- Mana Cost: 50
- Cooldown: 20 seconds

Critical Strike (PASSIVE)
- Gives a 20% chance to deal 1.5 times your normal damage

For Rejected Angel
Just some rebalance & changes

- First, increase his attack damage to 38-48 damage(Chaos). Why? All of his skills rely on being a support. Giving him a higher attack damage would at least help for him to be better at combat.

- Calls forth a wave of energy that heals the targets HP for 200, and bounces to nearby allied units. Each bounce heals 10% less. Does a maximum of 5 bounces.
- Mana Cost: 90
- Cooldown: 15 seconds
- When will it be used: When a nearby allied unit's current HP is below 30% of its Max HP.

Hi, we will change some stuff from your item suggestion, you'll see in the upcoming patches.

I will not change the towers yet.

I may change some things about crazy furbolg (including model) and rebalance rejected angel a little.

Patch 2.0.0a is under development. This patch is the 2nd biggest patch we've ever made.

Edit (2010-09-21): Okey, the patch is done. I don't really know if it's stable. That's why I hope as many can post issues here from this patch and we'll fix it right away. It's pretty hard to find everything on my own. The new version is now uploaded!

Thanks. Well, I think it's original, there is a couple of special things for this map. Anyway, when we start to create the "Survival Mode" for this AoS, it must be original :)

Yeah, it may be a couple of AoS's out here now, new or old. Anyway, there's still other maps if you don't like them :)

Because he's not balanced yet so you can't chose him in the hero tavern but that hero is gonna be awesome just like your skin.

I've seen the new patch and I would like to give some things.

For Assassin.
• The Mana Cost of her spells are outrageously high!
The thing is, the reason why I gave her spells low mana costs is because of her poor INT and INT gain, but to the point that she still can't spam them until mid-late to late game.
• Her Starting STR and STR gain is way too low! 16 + 1.2 STR is very bad for that fragile melee hero. Increase her STR gain to at least 1.8 so she won't be a liability to the team.


For Crazy Troll and Rejected Angel

- Make him Melee so that it will be balanced between him and the Rejected Angel

- Crazy Troll's attk speed bonus is still high. 50% will balance it out.

- His Aura makes things redundant. You already have a self-buff that buffs your AS, and then you have an AS Aura? At least change it to this...

Critical Strike (PASSIVE)
- Gives a 25% chance to deal 2 times your normal damage
With your self-buff, you could proc the Critical Strike with no problem, but with this addition, you'll change the Rejected Angel's misplaced skill, his Critical Strike.

For Rejected Angel
Since he IS a support creep and you can't take that fact away unless you change him, this will be a better for him.

Changes has been made to the assassin, i hope ur gonna like it.
I nerfed mana cost greatly and added some more str to her.

I have also made some changes about Crazy troll and Rejected angel and this is gonna be the last balance update with them for some time now.

Read about it in the new upcoming patch that i hope won't take too long to release

Enemore, the Death Archer

Some Overview...
Now, she is an AGILITY Hero that relies on her physical attacks but is still versatile.

Her skills:
Anubis Shot - A single-target nuke with a slow. Also, when your target dies, it explodes and deal AoE damage.
- "Shoot a deadly arrow that damages the target and injects an unknown enchantment. If the target dies within the duration, it explodes from the inside out, dealing damage in an area."

Untamed Thirst - A Passive skill that increases your attack damage every time a nearby enemy dies.

Marksmanship - A Passive skill that gives you a chance to completely ignore your target's armor. Procs on attack.
- "Being a skilled archer, her accuracy is phenomenal. Gives a chance to completely ignore your target's armor."

Shadow of Despair - This is the only skill that remains. I did some rebalancing and tweaking, though like when you teleport to the shadow, you will replace it, meaning it will disappear once you have teleported.
- Another is the part where I removed the -armor part because of her new skill "Marksmanship"
- But don't be discouraged. I did the necessary things for this skill to be balanced.
- "The Death Archer creates an immobile shadow at any targeted location, that she could replace at any time. Once she has teleported and replaced the shadow, apply "Fear" to all nearby enemy units, making them unable to attack & cast spells and losing control over it. Shadows lasts indefinitely. Only, at most, 2 Shadows could be active at a time."

Like what I said before, the color of the current Icon is pretty "clean" for the Plague Reverant and it is actually the wrong icon.

Regarding Forbidden Secret's "Increase Damage" and "Increase Armor"
I think it's much too cheap.
Somebody could just purchase these upgrades easily for the creeps to do all the work as they farm, which is abusing its power.

My suggestion is...
• Increase Damage - 1000 Gold
• Increase Armor - 850 Gold

In creeps, +2 Damage is much more reliable than +1 Armor so "Increase Damage" is more expensive than "Increase Armor"

Formula for Starting HP and Mana
Why not use these formulas for getting every Heroes Starting HP and Mana so that they will be synchronized.

For Starting HP:

Starting HP = 120 + (Starting STR * 20)
Why do you need to add it to 120?
- Because once your STR has been reduced to 0, (Which is possible if there is a skill in-game that could do that) your HP will also be 0. With this, you will still be left with 120 HP.
Why multiply the starting STR by 20?
- Because in this game/map, 1 STR = 20 HP. Use Logic.
For Starting Mana:

Starting Mana = 20 + (Starting INT * 15)

OR

Starting Mana = (Starting INT * 15)

Why do you need to add it to only 30? (OPTION 1)
- Same reason as above. But Mana isn't really that much needed unlike HP because, No HP = Dead ; No Mana = Not Dead. That why you only need to add it by 20, and the reason why I added another option.
Why multiply the starting INT by 15?
- Same Reason as above

You forgot to change the necessary items you need for the recipe. Remember, many items have been renamed.
For example.
Claws of the Forsaken still needs "Weapon of Luck", which was already renamed to Fiend Claws.

And For Attacks:
You could attack your allies(Creeps or Structures) even when in full health, meaning, you could attack them anytime as if they were your enemies.
You should only make them targetable by your attacks when their HP is lower than 15% or 20% (This is excluding allied Heroes)

Why?

Because being able to attack your allies any time you want could lead to abuses.
And the reason why I said that you should only make your allies targetable when their HP is lower than 15% or 20%, is so that you could deny your Creeps/Towers easily.

You can't attack allied towers when they have more than 10% hitpoints left. Units though, can you kill anytime. Allied heroes are untargetable.

Well, about your item "text" suggestion, I think we'll add it soon. We've already begun with some of them as you can see? So maybe in the next patch this will be added.

It's nice that someone finally help us finding bugs, it's very hard to find them for ourselves! I will take a look at everything you've found and see if I can fix some of them.

We may change the position of the orb, but then we'll have to find some good place in the water then. I am aware that the weather changing is causing a little lagg, I may remove it, but I thought it would be a sweet little feature to the map. Test Mode: Refresh Cooldown, Add Gold, Spawn Dummy Hero, Set Hero Current Level.

Its rly awesome to have some1 to find bugs and stuff like that and as flood said, its rly hard to find all the bugs ourselfs.

im just going to say something about vimx, that i only created him mostly for fun, making him so damn strong that almost no1 can kill him.

and why i did that was because i want players to wonder why he is so strong, does he unlock something or drop some cool loot? and well yes that item he drops is rly unbalanced and i may change that to something else but this vimx power could be fun for some of the players :p

noxtru on the other hand is easier and will probably get killed in some 3vs3 or 5vs5 games

@zadelim, I'll just make a quick comment here about your "test mode", I'm in a hurry. When you play single player you can use three commands:

-lvlup x (Level up to level x)
-getgold x (Get x gold)
-wtf (No cooldown or manacost)

Those commands are enough for me testing. Also, you can use the -repick command unlimited times while playing single player. I also use the -vdon feature, that will view damage done, in floating texts. That allow me to check if the spell deal any damage and how much for balance checks.

I think this will suitable for it. In your newly release version is too imbalance and no skill to cast and the skill arrangement problem. The Freeze's icon is from Heroes of Newerth. It should be credits to them. :D

I still have concerns regarding Demonic Fade Boots and Flash Step.

- Change the recipe from Boots of Speed + Claws of Attack + War Axe + Recipe TO Boots of Speed + 2x War Axe (No Recipe)
- Lower the cooldown of "Fade" from 30 seconds to 10 seconds
- There is a problem regarding "Fade". You should only make the bearer move through UNITS, not objects (like trees, cliffs, etc...) because that would create many problems and could cause many abuses.


The Icon hasn't been changed in-game, yet in the Changelog, it says that you already changed it.

We are working on the Fade bugg on those demonic boots and i don't know why that flash step boots icon aint changed, flood might have missed that.

Im not doing any more icon changes atm but i might change a name or two on the heroes you suggested.

@random.guy27, I must have missed to change the icon, I'll fix that now. I'll also see what I can do about the fade ability.

And of course we don't forget about your hero remakes and suggestions, but as we've said, we won't add any NEW heroes before all the current ones is done. Patch 2.2.0a will contain a lot of fixes and a new hero, this version may be released today or tomorrow.

I've found a major bug recently. The voodoo guy, when he has 2 or more orb effects in his inventory, and who got the ultimate(glavie throw) doesn't attack. He's replaying animation and after 2 or 3 secs launches a single shot. You should fix that 1

I think this is like Luna's "Moon Glaives" orb malfunctions (From DotA) since they are similar abilities.
Most orb effects (Expect Lifesteal) will make the attack of any Hero who has "Moon Glaives" for an ability, malfunction.

Though I'm not sure if this could be resolved.
We'll let Flood and drunken_rider answer that question.

OK, this bug is in global Warcraft III. Who has the bouncing attack cannot have 2 orbs effect in one time. That will cause his attack losing stability and malfunction it.

I could say, make a noticeable message on the Ultimate ability "Improved Glaive Throw" The only effective bouncing attack is life steal effect.
So the notice is "Only can stack with lifesteal effect. Others will cause the attack malfunction."

Patch 2.2.0a

Patch 2.2.0a is almost finished. Everything necessary is done and now I need to get in contact with Drunken_Rider and ask if anything more shall be fixed. When this is done, the patch will be released.

As said, this patch contain one new hero, Rider [Xrath] and a lot of fixes.

It doesn't malfunction with lifesteal. Tested.

I'm just wondering, but are all of those terrible grammar/spelling errors from the previous versions fixed? Those just made the map look nonprofessional, plain and simple.

Okey, nice to know that lifesteal is working. No, I won't make it an orb effect, I don't even know if that's possible.

You've asked this before. A lot of them has been fixed, yes, and while the map is being updated, more and more of them are being fixed.

@Vunjo,
No, we don't need any help with the triggering. I'm the one triggering the map and at the moment and I've not encountered any triggering problems with anything yet. I don't even know how good you are, but I don't think you can help us. Thanks anyway.

It just occured to me that the Mana Cost of a skill almost always scales for all Heroes.
Meaning, I could hardly see a skill that has a constant or even a decreasing Mana Cost per level.

Even if the Hero is not a Caster and/or has a low INT/INT gain, every Skill's mana cost increases per level, which is not right. Sure, some could increase but not all. That would cripple the Hero.

Hi, i know about this but i have not given this so much time yet because right now we are focusing on making the heroes fun to play, giving them some cool abilities, making the abilities to work properly, fixing buggs and stuff like that.

So when we have released the full version of this map i will be focusing much much more on cooldowns and manacost and proberly some other stuff too like damage and stun durations.
