hmm the spell starts faster?

so playing with the spell event i noticed that if you use "an unit starts channeling an ability" instead of "an unit begins the effect of an ability" the spell will be casted a little bit faster, is this common knowledge?

According to what I know, "an unit begins the effect of an ability" fires when the unit's mana is consumed in the spell (whether the spell takes mana or not I mean at that moment).
