As the title says, thw is turning into an imageboard and that kinda sucks.
This is no imageboard guys, I mean, wtf. I think spamming unneeded pictures should be punished.

Example: http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/site-discussion-97/staff-184728/

Seriously, you guys. This is not cool. It's just really irritating to read threads like this.
Especially when it's about an important topic like the staff's laziness.
Just stop trying to be funny. You're not born to be funny. Stop posting pictures with each post.
It also takes a lot more bandwidth than necessary but you complain about hiccups.

We are not so much lazy as we are tired of hearing the same old griping about generic topics like "staff is teh lazy" and "staff is teh mean" If zombie wants it to be a serious discussion then he should have posted examples, all he did was make generic blanket statements which could encompass the entirety of the hive's neg repping history.

The example that zombie most likely WAS reffering to when he made that thread was his recently acquired neg rep by ralle, which he should have just pmed ralle about instead of making yet another "whining thread"

As for the pictures, I can not speak for the others that post them, but i feel that expressions help to convey emotion in text better than words ever could. It adds a certain personal emotional connection between the two parties when they can read certain emotions from their counterpart. emoticons just dont have the variety nor depth of emotion that full pictures can successfully convey. These pictures are breaking down barriers for the internet, Instead of reading a brick of cold boring and emotionless letters, we can actually feel what the user was trying to convey.

such as seriousness http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/site-discussion-97/staff-184728/index2.html#post1786340

or voicing an objection http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/site-discussion-97/staff-184728/index2.html#post1785688

These pictures are not random and certainly not spam. They not only pertain to the conversation in hand, but enhance it through visual media. It creates a new level of communication among your fellow users.

Honestly there are billions more significantly more useless text-only posts on the various threads here than there are picture ones. And those posts with pictures more often than not have text along with it that do significantly contribute to the discussion at hand.

And as for the bandwidth issues, it seems negligible, assuming the user links the pictures from a picture hosting website such as photobucket. On site pictures could be the problem (assuming it even makes that big of a difference) and even then, that is no reason to discourage all forms of what will surely be the next generation of internet communication

It seems that many people think the staff is lazy. It's not very smart to start laughing at them.
Posting images isn't needed and it only turns threads into chaos.

Then why don't you try doing something to prevent them?

This would just mean another rule.

The community is small enough to accommodate a passive change to traditional replies; people should just take something as simple as this:

Ralle said:
I don't like images being used this way.

and change their ways.

--

I mean small as in, you see familiar faces posting alot - if they cannot find a solution to something this simple then I guess direct action should by taken on thee!

I'm with Devine on this one. As to the question of what is going to be done, I can say what I am going to do:

You get one warning. After that, neg-rep grows exponentially, eventually switching to a 24h ban, which will then grow exponentially as well.

Don't be imageboarding.

I don't see any issue with using images to represent an emotion that otherwise could not have been stated properly in text.

It seems that many people think the staff is lazy. It's not very smart to start laughing at them.

Any generic "I am a user, I am not a mod. I want to be a mod. I shall now complain about the mods in hopes of becoming one" thread is generally laughable in and of itself.

The only people who don't like staff, are the people who are not staff. Its true for pretty much all forums. People will just go all "VIVA LA REVOLUTION" because it makes them look good.

I am with Devine,Kwah and Ralle on this one! This kind of constant spam with irrelevant pictures should stop.

Mr.Bob, yes, you are right too. People are often yelling at moderators just to rebel, in order to get themselves to be in staff. True that, but it is not in case here!
Point is, if a user does constant image spam in forums, he would get punished. Because its obvious against rules. But as you know very well, if a staff members does that, nothing will happen. Especially in serious threads. And staff members often do that, that is why are some people really displeased with that. Nobody says that you are wrong, what are you saying is the fact actually! True fact. But its not in case here. Because if you noticed or not, but this is not happening first time.

I've actually reported at least once a very specific modeler who's name I wont mention exactly for the reason that he is posting irrelevant, strange, random or just plain stupid images in pretty much every 2nd post of his. It's nothing personal against him but I'd appreciate it if this bullshit will stop. I agree with this thread.

If I'd want to be a member of the staff, I'd multiaccount because this account has a way too big history of reports.
Besides, I don't think the staff is lazy at all. Except for Dondustin who should definetely be removed from his position and be banned instantly :D <3
This thread isn't about the staff at all. I really wonder how you got the idea that it is.
You seem to have a really bad impression of me and I think it's rather funny.
I really don't get why you have to be so aggressive, though.

I'd agree with you with regards to most of the recent threads that have been popping up, but if you know Devine you'd know that this doesn't apply in this situation.

I don't really have anything against you being as I really don't know anything about you. D:

I just find the multitudes of "VIVA LA REVOLUTION" threads to be annoying.
