Which offhand use hexblade when using a staff?

If hexblade doesnt use one, its worth to be using a staff for a "dps build"?

Regarding the Hexblade's Offhand capability. Since he is categorized as a superior tank class. Should he be capable of having an offhand with a staff just so he can be on par item wise?
Now when he has a shield equipped, he is very tanky. But his weaknesses comes from his mana pool and auto attack dependent aggro.
The mana regen from distract wep talent is low and practically ignorable. this could be buffed... mainly because the ability itself takes 3 mana, so you only regen 4 total and you cant use any ability with that amount anyways.
Staff equipped hexblade, regenerates mana pretty good. and with faster attack speed build you practically don't run out rightaway. But now he sacrificed tankability for dmg sustain. But without an offhand, he's already gimped. Compared to the crusader, berserker, even monk.
The other problem is his aggro generation. Now he has good pick up threat capabilities, but sustaining that threat and even pulling aggro off allies is not there. So the main concept of a tank doesn't apply good to this class. He has lockdowns, pulls, which is unique and useful. But even so, especially on a boss, he has no "Hey attack me!!" ability. Coming back to distracting weapon; his autos are not fast enough, not really strong enough to generate considerable threat, and the fact you got to cast it on yourself makes it odd... now I also know that your abilities proc it off, but with the long cooldown even with talent, you are not going to hold an assassin.

So, with that being said. Zwieb, you have any plans for this guy? Cool class and stuff, but I think you focused too much in a the psion's capabilities and not the hexblades true strengths.

I just believe that he needs an offhand (either defensive or offensive or both(hybrids)), and some value adjusting on some abilities to be the superior tank class he should be.
