I know its been done (What hasnt been done?), but i was thinking of making a game where youre a slave that has been sentenced to battle several waves of enemies in a battle arena. There is a large audience, and gates that open to reveal the next wave. But, between waves, you return to the jail. Where you can buy items such as staves, swords, potions, tomes, armors, helmets etc..
There are 3 things that will separate this from any other style gladiator.
1. The camera. Inside the jail, your camera is default. But when you are commanded to make way into the battle arena, your camera changes. Once in the battle arena your camera changes into the 3rd person (Zelda.. Grand theft auto..Dead Rising) you know. Making it a vacation from the typical WC3 camera. I've already tested this concept, and the camera is flawless.
2. Manual combat. Once you buy a...lets say...sword. It appears in your inventory. And along with that, you also recieve an ability named "Swing sword". And the ability does just that. It allows you to manually swing your sword at the enemy. Staves, will act somewhat the same. But along with a less-powerful "Swing" ability, you recieve certain spells (Based on the staff you chose). I'd love to include bows.. but i dont think villagers can properly use one. like, with both hands and all.
3. You start with a slave, and end with a hero. You can chose from almost endless items that redefine your hero. No two units will be the same. Choose the ways of a knight.. or be a mage.. Or, be a cleric. (all items will have attachments)
Good idea? bad idea? suggestions? shoot.
