whats the difference between furion and malfurion? in lore and story

Same character, Furion is just a shorthand name (e.g. a nickname).

Just a nickname.
Like Malfurion, Mal, Furion.

They are indeed the same character. Blizz was inconsistent with his name during the development of wc3 but settled pretty solidly on Malfurion by the time WoW rolled around.

In-game, the Furion and Malfurion model look a little different; one rides a goat-thing, but they use slightly different textures as well.
