Hi, i was just going to showcase some of the models i've done for the project thread in my signature.
It's generally soviet and german tanks from the second world war, enjoy!

Nice. They all look good.

But note that Jagdpanther is not a tank, but a Tank Hunter.

Yeah pretty much just a huge cannon on wheels. In the map, the original designation was "Heavy Tank", but since i wanted to give it a more specific role, i replaced them with tank hunters. I have a soviet version too that i haven't uploaded yet (SU-85) and an american that isn't textured yet (M18 Hellcat).

Yeah, i understand. It was correct of you to comment, there are large technical differences between a tank hunter and a tank.

It has some nice modelling in it.

Looks like the textures and models were exported-riped from some PC game.

@skrab: The textures are based on stock photos.
The tank textures are freehanded with a stock photo layered above with a "multiply" filter mode, while the vietnam huts are basically just stock with contrast and saturation added.
The Bofors and the PaK40 are 100% freehanded.
The airfield is all stock except for the tower. There's still a lot of work in the creation process, though.

@ikillforeyou: *drools*... Actually, when i think of it, the game does continue even after ww2 has technically ended, so why not?
Seriously, it would be the perfect escalation in a hypothetical continuance of ww2. I am so tempted, we'll see if i've got the space.

EDIT2: Forgot to mention, but the caterpillar tracks used on all the tanks are done by IllidanEvil. If anyone wants to see my .psd work file for the tank textures, just PM me and i'll send it.
i didn't think people would actually doubt that i made the models themselves, but that's also very complimenting to hear.

If you mean the little wheels inside the tracks, then i agree. It looks way too empty. i will add more geometry to them, namely hexagonical cylinders between the model planes.
The later models doesn't quite use the same "save-every-polygon-you-can!"-philosofy, and certainly look more detailed. I will upload them too later on.

I have already done the Panzer IV, it's just that i don't feel like i'm completely finished with it yet, so i haven't uploaded any images of it.
I too love the Sd.Kfz 222, but it has no role in the map.
I have done Sd.Kfz 251, however.
Just needs texturing now.

Suggestions: You could try making other tanks and WW2 stuff, like airplanes, other tanks [like Americans and British] etc.

You mean take pictures of them? Sure, though I need to get the chance to do it and remember to do it I also have some planes somewhere, though not really sure where.. Its been some time since I was in my model phase (model as in real models, not the 3D, that one is still active ).

See that's what I thought, they are painted though. But in regards of 3D models of warships from that periode I only have one, made in maya. Anyway looking forward to see your next models.

Indeed, I don't have any that advanced - but perhaps my neighbour does, since that's his big hobby to make those. Mostly those that can be controlled as well.

Out of curiosity, what program did you use to make your models? They look gnarly.

I used 3ds max 5.1.
Explain "gnarly"? Is it good or bad?
