Just a poll. Looking for your favorite book genre and also what books from the genres are your favorite. Mine would have to be horror but really I dont know what my favorite books are. I really like Dean Koontz writing but also am a fan of Darren Shan's work to.

I figured posting a poll might draw a little attention to this forum and maybe get others to read peoples writing to =p

I read almost entirely fantasy with a lot of science fiction as well.

But I read just about every kind of book, so there are a wide variety. I like mystery novels, and sometimes thrillers are okay, when blended with other genres I enjoy, like Technothrillers.

I really enjoyed Neuromancer, the best dystopian future novel ever concieved.

As well, Jurassic Park and The Lost World were both excellent as well.

The Lord of the Rings is undoubtedly a classic and my second favourite series of all time.

Harry Potter takes the cake. Those books are deeper than any of you can ever know.

Honourable mentions to Artemis Fowl, His Dark Materials, The Black Tattoo, The Runelords, The Sword of Truth, and many, many others.

I really don't have favorite, but most of the books I've read are fantasy or science fiction. Kurt Vonnegut is a damn good writer.

Fantasy, by far. Although I do enjoy a lot of books throughout a wide spectrum of genres.

I'm a huge fan of Tolkein. The LotR Series is a classic, and I'm reading The Silmarillion for about the sixth time.

Michael Crichton (Too bad he died) is another favorite of mine. I agree with Brad, Jurassic Park and The Lost World are among his best.

Wheel of Time. Robert Jordan is actually epic. Too bad he died whilst writing the (soon to be published) finale though...

Um. Stephen King. Although reading his books tends to make me hide under the blankets (literally) he is awesome. Although his plots are pretty much nothing but deus ex machina, he has a way with metaphor that drives me into hysterics.

Did you ever read Prey? That was another more recent one of his that was awesome. I liked Time Line too. Airframe and Disclosure were both awesome but kinda different from Jurassic Park.

I even read his screenplay for Twister. Did you know he wrote that too? I thought it was pretty damn cool.

Funny you should mention Prey Brad, I just finished it about two weeks ago. The idea behind it was interesting. Certainly a different way of looking at nanotechnology. He did an excellent job describing the process of how the nanobots were made, considering the technology doesn't really exist.
