Glad to hear this is back up on updates. Still waiting for this golden map to be released. BTW, are you going to post the new screenshots here on the Hive, or will you put a link up?

When will the beta come out ?

The first release will not have all the features. The second release will. Both will be done when they are done. My hopes are within the next few weeks. I'm hoping all that will be left out of the first version is quests and professions. Quests are just very time consuming, because we both want them done right, and won't let anyone play it until they are done to our specifications. Professions just haven't been coded yet because our inventory is still in the works. We are testing many things and trying to create the most user-friendly backpack/equipment inventory we can. This should be finished within the next couple of days though, as we settled on an acceptable interface today.

I'll put them on our clan website with a link. It's faster and easier for me to upload them there, because I don't have to resize each one to attach here. Meant to do that last night, but I got distracted with redoing some terrain.
When I saw the screens I was amaized, and still am. But what are you planing to do with all that water around the land?
I'm confused here. Every possible space on the map is filled up. A few pages back was an attachment of a full map pic without doodads. Please explain what you mean? 8)



Not relating to anything above, I'm having trouble deciding the role of the cleric class. I initially wanted him to fill the gap of primary heal/buff, but he ended up being horrible solo, and played more like the paladin ability-wise. Any suggestions on how to further create the primary heal/buff role of the cleric through abilities?

Not sure if you guys saw this before, but I'm slowly posting the 5 instance/dungeon areas in the map. When we release it, I'll probably write a little walkthrough for each dungeon to go along with those images.

NOTE: ALL those images in the link are IN THE SAME MAP. This entire project takes place within THE SAME MAP. It is not two maps, not three maps, not even four maps. It is ONE map, with camera tricks to change the minimap to different areas. Not to sound like a douche, but I have gotten many pm's and posts on here asking how many maps are there, and are those images from a seperate map. Again, any image I post reguarding our Fate project is from the same map as the rest of the images. Sorry for my /rant.

Lol, I know this project is not dead. And saying something is complete doesn't really mean anything. You could have some crappy map that is unpolished, untested, untried, but the map maker could say it is done. I'm sure they could release the map as soon as this week if they wanted to and many would say it would be done, but these guys are much better than that and will keep working for a first version until they are satisfied. Trust me, it's worth the wait.

Nah it's not dead. Just working on some in game things to make it a bit more interesting.

There are now mailboxes in each town. The mail in those boxes is locally shown for the player checking the box, so each player receives his/her own mail. In your mailbox, you will receive things such as some quest rewards, items, presents, letters, treasure maps, and maybe even random junk (to name a few).


Also, fishing is being improved. I'm working to make fishing as diverse as possible. There are 25 different fish to catch depending on where you are fishing, and how deep the water.


There is also a new voucher system. The only way to obtain vouchers is to sell (misc) items. (misc) items are usually common drops from any mob. You cannot obtain vouchers from selling equipment, potions, or anything of that nature. Only (misc) items.

Vouchers are used to purchase specializations such as offensive/defensive combat/magic. These bonuses will boost your effectiveness in battle. Vouchers are also used in conjunction with your professions and purchasing new bait/lures for fishing. I will add to vouchers at a later time.


Right now I'm just doing little things here and there while I wait for SoK to get his life stuff back in line. Thanks everyone for their patience and interest in our little project.

Everyone needs to chill out. Ive only just learned about this map seeing I rarely browse the forums for new maps. If you have read the whole thread you would know how long they have been working on this map, how they have answered alot of questions, and how dedicated they are because of all of our compliments (considering this is my first compliment regarding their honour) to finish this map.

Demanding or even asking for updates on their progress wont give them the ability too, seeing as they are trying to make a great map for the whole wc3 community.

Sorry if I ranted, it needed to be said, again.

I dont think they will be using the turn based system for this type of map. If they dont Rui, would you still play this or atleast try it?

Well, I like trun based stuff, but depends on the game. Anyways, the game sounds awesome, but I don't feel like reading through 13 pages of posts just to find out how is the development going and when it gets released, so would you please update the first post to indicate that?

Maybe it takes, but in a game where you have players limited to a number of 12 (assuming this map uses them all), most people will leave anyway, leaving the game reduced to a maximum of 5, 6 players.
Turn-Based combat is something you can play with friends, and the system itself is fun, if the story is worth it of course.

In almost every case, lag is caused my data leaks, which map makers can remove easily, without data leaks, maps do not become laggyer over time and players only lag out if their computer is having a spasm over a few doodads. From the screen shots that I have seen on this map so far, they don't even use that many.

You're worried about lag because there are 4k doodads...
This looks like it might be an ok map when it's finished by the way, which is saying a lot for a wc3 rpg... Or just anything involving wc3.

Ok, to clear some things up.

This map has 21,100 doodads currently. I get an average of 38 fps on my 1.8ghz laptop.

We have coded and recoded things numerous times to ensure the most lag-free gameplay.

In my opinion, we have addressed the two main things needed for a map like this. Extremely noob friendly, but enough advanced gameplay mechanics and enough areas to explore to keep everyone satisfied.

Everything was created from scratch in this map.

7 Players total.

Oh, and we are still working on this.

Well,
Clerics should be a versatile figure, being capable in combat, and skilled with Divine/Holy magic.
Clerics should be able to operate as a offensive fighter at times, but if the party needs a back up healer.
His healing skills should lack those of a actual healer/priest. But will defiantly be more, proficient with melee combat.

Skills, Could be a mix of some lesser healing spells and some passive melee ones.
I'm not too sure tho. Its entirely your decision. =]

I've also been pondering on how the hunter's pet will work. Right now, you can tame any creep you come across that is at or below your level. That pet will be included in the save code, and will load when you load your hero. As of now, pets are controlled primarily through AI, and are reactive to your actions, such as attacking the same thing you are, or running from a fight when you do. But, I want something more unique. Maybe a static pet that "evolves" over time depending on what you feed it. Or maybe you have the option at a certain level to choose the pet you want to level up throughout the game.

Just throw some ideas out there if you please.

The pet should be able to evolve, maybe not by what you feed it, But by your actions?
Every pet will have 3 types of evolves, Evil, Good, Neutral, and depending on what your character has or hasn't done, it will evolve accordingly.
Maybe, also for feeding it will real it toward different stats, as in, you want to make a Tanking Pet, it might get special abilities such as Taunt, increased armor, ect.
Anyways, It sounds good to me but yea, great job with what you have. =]

Give pets abilities like: Turtle pet would have somekind of tanking skills, and then wolf pet would deal huge damage with his bites (critical strike ect.). And pets should be heroes also, they should get exp from fighting and stats point on level up. Also if possible there could be somekind of "trainer points" on your pet, so when you would have enought those points, you could have more control over your pet ( like make your pet carry and pick up things from ground. And about pets unique abilities:

Wolfs should also have good night vision, and good smell (pings location of nearby units).
Turtles could go inside of their shields (gargoyle- stoneform) and if turtle grows big enough, it should be able to carry hunter over seas.
Boars would also deal high damage and they would be also rideable when they had grown big enough.
Cat animals should have passive stealth at night and also good nightvision. Cats should be one of the fastest animals over there.
Bears and other big animals would make enemies bleed on strike and they should have very big armour. Bears with backpacks should be able to carry alot of items. And ofc there would be Ice bears and brown/black bears. Ice bears could also carry you on water. But black and brown bears would deal better dmg.
Small bird animals should be able to blind opponent by attacking opponents eys, but big birds should be able to carry you around by flying (and ofc pets mana should be his stamina, and it takes alot of stamina to carry somebody, and if stamina runs out bird will fall down and you will most likely die.
Scorpions and snakes would strike with very deadly poison attacks.
And ofc you would be able to tame sheeps and rabbits :) just for cuteness. They would emit somekind of Cuteness aura which gives you some health regeneration / mana regeneration :).

You could also put your pet on "hunting mode" which means that he will go to hunt some small animals and bring them to you for food ( and for means of roleplaying you wouldnt have vision of your pet while he is on hunting mode. (and it would also be dangerous if your pet would go to some strange caves or if it encountered some bad guys)) :)
Pets should have different diets. Smaller animal would require less food.
Heh, pets sounds so funny that I think there will be no other classes than hunters :p

EDIT: It would also be great if there were some extra rare pets (which wouldnt spawn in every game) that would have some special abilities :p (like somekind of ghostwolf with divine attack damage or something :)) ) that would be really cool to hunt special pet from the huge world of Fate ORPG :D

EDIT2: I came up idea about, what if the leveling thing would be like this: When you pet levels up, you can chooce stat points (strenght agi int) and if your pet has certain amount of strenght it would receive some tanking skill (and its size should grow) and agility would make pet faster and give it some special moves (like jumping and some cool strikes) and inteligence would make pets vision better and give it some tracking skills. How does it sound? And when pet has enough strenght ( its big enough ) it would be able to carry his owner and carry more stuf in backpacks :p.

And please feed my little pet under there:


EDIT:3 And about clerics, what about adding them variety of "spirits" which are "pets" what follow you and give auras to your party. There would be spirits with healing/mana regenerating auras. And ones with more offensive auras.

Yeah, it's all on one map. Houses are faded locally. We are going to move over the code to the main map here in the next few days, so that should mean a demo or something if everything works the way we planned.

It will probably still be 60, although not all areas will be accessible. It will be the base game with some features disabled that we havent finished yet. This is also to work out some bugs that people may find playing with a full game and whatnot, since we really only test with two people.
