Diablo III Warcraft Beta v1.19b



This map has been based on the Diablo III Gameplay Video. You may even recognise a few of the in-game events if you've seen it! Please remember that this is a beta version, and may still contain bugs. Anyone can host this online, just let me know if you find any major flaws in the game :)

great map dude :)
But i still miss some more creep spawns at the start :p
I hope that Blizzard will come up with some more Races for D3, so you will be able to add them to warcraft3 D3 :p

1 Question :)(please answer it, because i am confused^^)

how did you streched the clifs that much in your map?
i am creating a new Lotr map right now, but i need to know how to change clifsizes or i will never finish it :(

Go to the terrain section. There should be some tips on how to accomplish that.

This map is developing well. Ofcourse there are still tons of bugs which the makers are working o nfixing as we speak but generally it seems very promising.

The next version will feature a full screen inventory system with equipable items and all as well as totally different moves for the classes. More I will not reveal and you can probably folow it in the hosted project board.

I agree on the fact that the map is developing well. Just recently we had a surge of ingame footages and videos etc. taken and uploaded on YouTube. It's quite funny actually.

Im back everyone, well, not entierly...
My router crashed 3 days ago, and we didnt get it back up, so we bought a new one and still had problems, so we contacted "the guys" that is watching over us (not god..) and they should get our internet back up today.
They dont really know what happened.. it seems like our router fucked up our entire internet when we turned off everything when it was lightning outside..

What your getting there is an error message that seems to pop up for everyone from time to time xD Im not entirely sure why its doing that for you though, so far, there hasnt been a problem for anyone else :S

However! If you could, try running another map and see if you get the same message :p This will tell us if the bug is map related :D

If not, then I'll have to investigate that xD I dont want error messages appearing, even if it just for the minority :D

If you mean running from within WC3, then that means your WC3 installation is eithor curropt, your PC sucks too much or you are not using the latest and most recent WC3 patch released. Do make sure you are up to date.

Yupp, i had the same problem, and first it was becouse it was wrong editor, but now this map is compatible with all editors, so thats not the problem anymore.
Then i couldent start ingame, becouse my wc3 wasnt up to date, so just update the game and it should work.

How is windows7?

Anyway, once you're ready to start on the skill tree just give me a call. I'll tell you some ideas that I and CloudWolf were discussing that could make the skill tree more epic and enjoyable.

Its not so much the graphics. Its more to do with the sheer number of doodads and SFX that have to be processed while playing xD

I mean, during boss battles, there are hundreds of SFX animations, and theres about 13000 doodads on the map which have to be processed :S

It guess it might be worth investigating ways to hide doodads, until they are needed :p

E.g. Only show the doodads for the rea you are in or something? That could definately help :)

Well, high end computers like ours are well capable of dealing with it. I do not experience any performance problems at all. It's probably something to do with your specs or if you're running multiple programs in the background at once.

Im suffering for the low fps too. Yes, its because my pc is so slow, but it hardly happens with any other maps.

Go to options while in-game and try change the shadows and stuff, I had really bad performance on my mac-book in this map, and I changed something in the options-menu. And all of a sudden (without any visual changes) the map ran perfectly on my machine :) Try it

Yeah, changing the graphic options can make a HUGE different, it can make it look like an entire different game and it can make it work smoother.
I remember in wow.. I played on the worlds oldest computer and could hardly move, i just took the terran graphic on lowest and it works just like a new computer, thats one of the few games i have that actually makes difference when you change the options.
And it should be the same with wc3.

Well I don't get the problem, even if I turn on lowest graphics the FPS often drain below 30.
If there isn't something specific problem regarding my computer it must really be the huge amount of doodas and maybe triggers. Because whenever masses of ghouls for example start attacking me the frame rate drops.
(And I can play Bioshock or Dead Speace on highest settings quite well, so my PC should be powerful enough. Also the load factor of my GPU isn't above 40% when I play the map.)

Whatever, I don't know, if it works fine for you it seems to be my problem :X

Aye :) Me and red were talking yesterday, and thought it would be neat if we could hide/remove all the doodads, and only load the ones in the current area of the map a player is in :p That basically means you wouldnt have to process the doodads you cant actually see xD

Unless of course warcraft already does that by default xD I'll have to check that out :)

If we can somehow pull that off, then technically speaking, the size of the map could be limitless xD The only reason it stops where it does is because we're at 11300 doodads and any more would create too much lag :)

Another idea was to completely Delete doodads as you progress in the game. For example, once all 6 players have left a dungeon room, all the doodads in that room could be 100% deleted as they can no longer be seen :)

For all the people complaining about frame rates and how WC3 options make no difference. It is logicall they will not. The map uses a lot of imported models and imported models have no low quality equilivent and thus will always appear no matter the options (or they will not appear at all and mess up the map).

Things that will make a FPS difference are, lowering render options in your display drivers (turning of AA and simlar), lowering the resolution at which you play (from HD to low res) and also closing background applications to free up system resources (no MSN and stupid junk).

On my PC I get between 10-25 FPS or lower and can still play, you do not need high FPS to play. My specs are nvidia 7800 and P4 at 3GHz with HT and 2 GB RAM.

However on the other hand, my brothers computer with 8800GT and intel quad core with 4 GB RAM only runs the game at on average 40 FPS when it can run games like TES oblivion with settings past MAX at 60. You think the map is bad? Well actually that is with 16* AA and 16* AF enabled and all render options at highest quality, without that I am sure it will 60FPS it all the time. Thus this proves the game is graphically demanding, as normally at the same settings maps are run a 60 FPS.

I say a lot of the lag is caused by long view distances and too many models. Reducing the view distance would help. Badies which are weak should have lower poly models as they are highly numerous or decay faster. Any models that can not be seen should not be there. And most importantly, adjust the camera angle to be less intensive (change angle so less terrain is visable and thus shorter view distance is needed). With the camera, a change of a few degrees here and there can give benifits for more than a few FPS.

In short, if you are using a computer with an older or weaker than 7800 graphic card, you should consider not playing this map if you are fanatical about having to play with rates of FPS above 20.

Also for CloudWolf
You can not manipulate doodads with triggers, they are completly unselectable and merge with the terrain. This is because doodads I believe have no widget properties. Destructables on the other hand can be manipulatd as they are widgets and have stuff like HP and building like properties.

WC3 does have basic clipping, it only renders what is visable. Vew range helps this as it only renders what is within a certain range of the camera. However additional objects have additional effects next to just graphics on the game. More objects mean more process intensive clipping and more time for that kind of thing.

Thus for ultimate effeciency, try trigger creating as many destructables and stuff as possiable and convert some doodads to destructables. Thus for example once you leave an area you could remove its destructables and make new ones in the new area reducing the total number of handles at a time and unnescescary opperations. Wether this is effective though I do not know.

I tried turning most stuff off or turning it as low as possible in my ati CCC. However it didn't really change anything at all. Maybe 2-3 FPS.
So whatever I do, I won't be able to play this map smoothly ^..^
Doesn't matter though, since I've played it often enough.

By the way I don't need super Graphics but I need a fluently running frame rate. Else I can hardly enjoy the stuff ;P
