Diablo III Warcraft Beta v1.19b



This map has been based on the Diablo III Gameplay Video. You may even recognise a few of the in-game events if you've seen it! Please remember that this is a beta version, and may still contain bugs. Anyone can host this online, just let me know if you find any major flaws in the game :)

this map will have a LOTS OF CHANGES because a lot of time passed....and i think the map will have double number of downloads. Let me with open-mouthed !:wink:

The map is currently very disappointing, abilities are incomplete and not polished, or just straight plucked from classic with no relation to Diablo III. The main hero that suffers from non-diabloism is the witch doctor.
He looks nothing like the Diablo WD, his skills are not even similar (except mongrel and firebomb, and even they dont work the same way as they do in Diablo).

Locust swarm is just lazy, it works nothing like that ingame. Firebomb has duel effects, as you would have seen from the trailer. There is no healing spell in the trailer afaik, Diablo has no designated healers, which you of course know, i assume you have played diablo before. Each character is self sufficient in Diablo, don't try and 'improve' on it. Oh, and where is zombie wall? The second coolest skill announced and it isnt even there! You missed the two iconic WD skills...

And how about those healing orbs? Need some fixing there.

The 'rush' of ghouls is not a rush at all, they just sit there until i run into agro range. They should be charging at me, not the other way around. I could easily just pick them off one at a time without having to fight an overwhelming horde. Once again, missing the mark.

Finally we come to the bosses, I soloed the first 4 (up to the one after the undead king) with wizard and WD. They were less than challanging, and unlike the D3 bosses they did not present 'a unique and exciting combat situation'.

The terrain was in general nice, but of course it could do with some improvments, some areas were sloppy and look unfinished, let alone polished.

I hope you get your act together and try to make this map better, it has potential.
Let's see what the next version brings, hopefully not more disapointment.

Also, try to look past the hype and the "OMFG SOO EPIC!!!!1111 4.9999/5 :D :D XD :D" posts, its just hype, it has no weight and it is detrimental to your map.

First i saw this post i was like "omg YOU DONT LIKE IT?!?!?!?!". But the more i though over it, the more i agreed. It is kinda boring, and similar. Yeah the spells, isnt good i agree. But when it comes to the bosses i think i disagree (with some of them). You mentioned the Skeleton King, and said it wasnt so intresting. Well, i think the SK are one of the most epic boss fight ive seen in a loooong time :D
But my conclusion is. I think the reason this is so popular, is the terrain. It really has some epic terrain, and that make people think, ooh this map is nice, instead of actually checking out everything in it.

Anyway, i still like it ;D And i think i can asure you that the next version wont bring too many disappointments ;D

I agree in most points with 'Gorman', I really hope you guys got somewhat of triggered spells by now, if not, I might sign up as a spell designer, or at least send you something to show you that all of the spells showed in the teaser is posible to make with only Triggers, maybe even with simple GUI :)

Anyway, the terrain is in it's own class, and way over anything else I'v ever seen in Warcraft III, and this is what made people play this from the start, where EVERY spell was just the standard ones. So I hope the team is a good thing for the project, I mean before this there was an update every 5-10 days, now it's been month since the last one :S So unless the other people at the team is as good at their profesion as you CloudWolf is at terraining, I'm not sure it's a good disision, yet..

Btw. I just saw the teaser for Diablo III again, and sometimes when the barbarian hit enemies there comes this floating text, showing the amount of damage I belive. Is this a feature you consider adding? You would need to make a new damage system, but then you will be able to make each item way more unique with +Crit-Chance and such?

in some points you might be right.
But dont be such a grumbler.
They did a really great job for now, with what they did here.
Load a map up yourself that even touches their mapping skills and then come and suscribe again.
I make only legitimate points, there are many improvements that can be made, and should be made.

I think the map received a lot of attention and hype, and this has caused the devs to aim lower than they should.

I can think of many maps that are better in terms of terrain, gameplay, storyline, character design, spell craft, environment design, practically every factor. Do not delude yourself into thinking this is the best map ever made, I'm sure that all the developers know this, and I'm sure they realise that they themselves are not the best at what they do, it would be unhealthy if they thought they were. It's not an insult, its just the way it is.

Yes, the map presents some very dramatic scenery, which is probably at the center of its popularity. It has rode the massive D3 wave, which is another major contributing factor to the hype.

Everything seems rather too generic, especially for Diablo, the grandaddy of hack 'n slash, and epic character development.

Okay. Map Team. I need the most up to date version. Also, adding you guys to my MSN might be helpful. I'd like to talk to CW or LTGH about what needs doing, and what's already working.

:p just wanted to defend them, because i like the map, but yeah lots of points(i play D2 as well) are right.^^
 
Your character still develops, weather or not you have control of it. Bad choice of words, character scaling would have been better.

I think this map's terrain is absolutely amazing.
Terrain - 20/10
Spells - 6/10
Classes - 7/10 (I know there's not much variety yet.)
Fun - 8/10

I thought this map was very, very good for a beta so i'll give it a 5/5. I would like to see some more intricate spells in future versions though :D

We are remaking them.

BTW,
Spartans does die!
Its kinda hard not to die when you play with only spartans in halo 3, on the same screen, you just hunt by looking on your opponent. Ruins everything :<

anyway, we got great news. The map is in a releasable state. We'll set a release date sometime soon and and until it is released we'll holdback the map and see if there anything needs fixing.

My dad came to visit us for a week (he is leaving tommorow) so thats the reason to why im not so active.
I have been busy with RL lately :p

I will do my best to be more active. :wink:
