Demon Invasion v1.8

Description:
Demon Invasion is a 7 player Hero Defense.
You find yourself in an abandoned outpost, defending against 30 waves of demons and undead, with a boss fight every 5th level.
You have a portal in your base, which will lead the demons directly to the heart of the mortal world.
It is your objective to protect it, while staying alive long enough to kill the last boss.
When he is defeated, the demons will be forced back to hell, and you will be victorious.

The game was designed to have at least a little teamwork needed in order to progress.
This was my first project, so it's not big, complex and innovative. I aimed at creating a simple, but fun and engaging player experience.

Items:
The map currently features 4 shops. (Armor/Weapons/Potions/Tomes)
Each boss drops an unique item as well.
Most of the items are "custom", and I plan to implement recipes. (A few ideas are being thought out right now)

Heroes:
There's currently 8 Heroes to choose between.
While the Heroes may not have a certain "role", some shine more in areas where others don't.

Modes:
There's 3 different difficulties to choose between, making it possible to give new players a chance to get to know the game, as well as the option to give experienced players a challenge.

The game also features a shared bounty system, so now the little healer in the back won't get cheated. Gold from kills is equally shared between allies.

Do not be afraid to tell me what you think about this map. This is my first effort at making one, and any form of (constructive) criticism would help me improve greatly!

Pretty Good Map!

Good Things:
+ The Waves are Pretty hard and Fun^^
+ Good Heroes and Good Abiliityes
+ I Like the Custom Icons!
+ The Gameplay is Great!
+ Teamwork is Needed.
+ The Bounty rewarded is great.
+ Tarrain is Good.
+ Game Modes are all fine!

Things that is not good:

- Some writing mistakes o_O
- You could make difference on the shops.
- The Fountain off Life is placed so the game is easy.
- Some stronger tomes maybe?
- And maybe some more Triggered Spells, i see alot of original effects.
- If there is not 7 players the game gets harder.

This game got 48/100 from Flirt2200!

English isn't my first language, so small grammar/spelling mistakes are to be expected :) If you could point some of them out so that I could correct them, I'd really appreciate it.

And for the triggered spells, I wanted to keep some things simple. This is my first map, and my fear of nobody liking/wanting to play it refrained me from delving too deep into some things.

I thank you for taking your time to play my map, and for telling me what you thought about it :)

The mortor team is overpowered. As a support hero he does more damage/kills than any other hero. When I played the game was very easy it was a breeze. Until the game glitched where must've been one of the monsters got stuck up past the starting zone so we couldn't reach him which ended everyone leaving.

Make a trigger check for monsters that may have gotten stuck up there. Because that was a major burn out.

Hehe,I actually had fun playing your map

Well,a short review:

I played with the Soul Gouard and I experienced many in game issues:

[+]I like the variety of shops
[+]The bounty system is indeed,awesome!
[+]I like the fact that you used custom models for heroes
[+]Has loading screen
[+]It is protected
[+]Full proper credits were given
[/]Why didn't you added some custom spells?
[/]Why didn't you added some custom icons?
[/]The terrain could be improved
[/]The portal is facing the nether, not the whole battle area,it results that units attack it from the back!
[-]Very imbalanced
[-]The ''resurrection at the cost of 350 gold'' isn't working
[-]A very big bug or should we say,you forgot: The summoned units give 50 bounty +13 ... 30 gold as neutrals,do something about it!

I hereby end your map review, hopefully you wont be dissapointed, but actually realise where you have mistaken.I rate your map with a 4/5.

Keep on mapping, you would waste some talent if you stop!

[/]Why didn't you added some custom spells?
Creating them is very time consuming, and I have no experience making them.
I might make a few here and there in the future, but it'll be when I'm done balancing the game properly.

[/]Why didn't you added some custom icons?
Some heroes have a few custom icons ( Warlock and Engineer) But in the end they're very superficial, and just take up precious space.

[/]The terrain could be improved
True, I'm really bad at terraining. But so far I'm satisfied with the way it is.

[/]The portal is facing the nether, not the whole battle area,it results that units attack it from the back!
That was intentional, actually. But I can see the annoyance. I'll consider changing it.

[-]Very imbalanced
Referring to the portal above, or just the general gameplay? If so, a few pointers to what you thought was imbalanced would be great

[-]The ''resurrection at the cost of 350 gold'' isn't working
What isn't working about it? didn't you lose gold, or didn't you revive?

[-]A very big bug or should we say,you forgot: The summoned units give 50 bounty +13 ... 30 gold as neutrals,do something about it!
Yeah, that totally slipped my mind. Thanks for noticing!

I hereby end your map review, hopefully you wont be dissapointed, but actually realise where you have mistaken.I rate your map with a 4/5.

I always appreciate it when people point out the small errors I've done. It's the only way to improve :)

Demon Invasion

Reviewer's Description: A hero defence variation, where the hereos must protect the portal from the invading demons. A basic mix of Rock Paper Scisscor elements (Tank, Healer, Ranged) mixed in with the Hero defence genre make for an interesting mix.

The Good

-Custom made hereos with appropriatly fitting skins are fun to play as and add a replay factor as people would like to try other hereos. ++ Fun Factor ++ Originality
-Despite a lack of knowledge of how to make triggered and interesting spells, you improvised and changed Warcraft III spells to suit your needs. They are interesting and work well with the theme of the hereos. + Originality + Technicality

-It's fun to play with friends and implies a basic Rock, Paper, Scissors element that regulates teamplay. + Fun factor

-Bounty system makes for balanced earnings + Technicality

The Bad

-The bounty system seems to be flawed. Summonings earn more than they should. And the revive bounty doesnt subtract money. -- Technicality
-There is a sudden jump in difficulty when the Vampire/Dreadlord boss comes in at a later stage. He is over powered and caused many, many deaths for me and my comrades. - Technicality.

-Terrain could be better. - Technicality

The UGLY

-If not played with friends, there is a horrid fight about who gets item drops from bosses. A proper system should be implemented to balance this. - Fun factor - Technicality.

-The demon invasion theme is oh so cliche. - Orginality.

-Bonus:

(1=Unapprovable.)

(2=Bad)
(3=Average)
(4=Great)
(5=Excellent!)

Final Verdict:

3.5/5 Good

Demon invasion is a fun map, espicially if you play it with friends but less so played in public. The hereos are fairly balanced and there is a creative use of spell orientation that fits with the each hereos theme. The basic "Rock Paper Scissors" system is implemented in a fine manner where there are "Tanks" who hold the enemy. Healers and support casters who buff and heal the group and ranged and damage spell casters that inflict suffering on the foe. The map is great, but there is a great fued over who gets the next item from the boss espicially in public. A host with custom kick booted a player for hogging the items and not responding. Lets face it, people are greedy. This problem is eliminated if you play with friends how ever. The maps theme is cliche, demon invasion. The enemy spawns get boring after a while. There is some replay value but... it'll die off soon.

This map is good, but it is destined to be forgotten quickly.

I recommend this map be played with friends, atleast once. It's a bit fun for a while.

I just looked through the triggers, and the revive trigger looked fine. I tested it afterwards, and the 350 gold is subtracted as intended. I have found a few causes to why it might appear not to be working;
1. The gold is reducted when you revive, not when you die.
If you expected it to get subtracted on death, I can see how it might had seemed not to be working properly. But I can assure you, when your hero revives, the gold is subtracted as intended.
2. Due to the shared income system, you receive gold almost non stop. Maybe the recurrent increase made the reduction unnoticeable.

I fixed the errors you guys noticed. I also made a few balance changes, and changed the units in a few waves, along with other small corrections. A new version has been uploaded.

Oh, and thank you for your review, Steel Stallion. I found it honest, and fair.

It's a nice map. Alot of effort put into it. Altought it just needs the finishing touch.
Add some new more advanced spells.
Add some more items, new items too, not just normal onces.
Maybe add some more gameplay when killing the creeps. In the lenght it gets rather boring, it seems to be the same over and over again.

If you look besides this, it's a nice map, it has a very good potential. Not much to be fixed Nekro!

I've found a bug it seems, when dying with less than the needed amount of gold. It only substracts whatever you have. This is a little lame. Simply make sure that for ress function you need to have 350, or how much needed. In order to be able to ress. Then simply make a command which triggers the ress function. So you can wait, or have sended some money, in order to ress, when dead.

last boss = imbapossible
i mean whats the point when he reincs all the time, becasue it takes to fucking long to kill him?

He's only supposed to reincarnate once.
In some of the older versions, he kept reincarnation forever. But in v1.8 his reincarnation has a 3600 second cooldown, meaning you have an entire hour to kill him. If you played a version prior to v1.8 I apologize for the inconvenience.
