@Shar Dundred

Me and a few other were thinking of creating an epic battle for a campaign, now the main question is whether to divide the enemy into teams, or rather have them together as one team (this wont have an effect on food because we'll give the enemy 300 food if its a single army) So would be it better if you're facing a single enemy under a single color, or a group of allies under different colors ?

If i were you I would just have them together under one banner (color) unless there was a specific reason why it couldn't be this way, setting the food at 300 seems to be the solution to one problem, I think having all the enemies under one banner creates a psychological effect that you're about to face a huge army, and thus forces the player to be more prepared. But that's just my opinion, do as you decide best

@Lord Aiden

Didn't we try this already ?? and the main enemy has to be re-colored purple and had his own force called "Arveleus' Elite" You could have the bulk of the army under one color, but the leaders or leaders forces need another one to distinguish them from the rest, because they have different properties, and because they are triggered to behave differently, and lots of other editor related stuff

If you still have all the wc3 stuff I send you

look at "campaign v.14"

looks through mission 8, it basically shows you everything I've said this far

@Rem ; that's one very specific map, it was necassary that the leader's forces were to be purple, you could've changed their color and have them blend in with anyone else, but because of the nature of that mission Arvelus' Elite forces had to be purple. I was talking about a completely different map here

It was a very well made map, if I had to choose the best of all the "final battle" themed missions that particular mission would be in the top 10 of all times, at least in my book, its not just the battle, its the story, the way the map is set up, the flow of the battle, numerous things I could not even name. THat's why I bring it up, that map would not function as well if all the enemies would be lumped together

Ok it's definitely a very unique (and not to mention time consuming battle) but we're looking for an un-related answer here, and ye that map was awesome, but that has nothing to do with the question

Problem with one large force = too much collaboration, if attacked the whole force responds

problem with small forces; will not collaborate, if one base is breached the others will not send help

those are just 2 of the common problems, other ones include lack of specificity if all forces are integrated into one, so smaller groups of forces are needed for specificity, but you can have one large force with a smaller elite force in the back or something along those lines, Blake gave the regular forces 250 food and the specialized force gotten 100 or 120 and this worked out fine, again you have to weigh the cons and some very complex problems seem to have very simply solutions.

You're right Rem, I will look over those missions you've send us, I will encourage Aiden to do so as well, I really appreciate your input on this!

For what it's worth you can locally change the displayed teamcolor of units without causing a desync. The allied army players can see whose units are whose but the players fighting them all see a unified color. The owning player name that shows up when you mouse over units will still be different, though.

Ok, so this is what I've gathered; every base needs an offensive force and a defense force, so you could divide the army into 2 factions: the attackers and the defenders, the defends stay inside the base and go eliminate any attackers who intrude into the base, the attacking party on the other hard is merely concerned with attacking the enemy. Rem, that mission you were talking about was no different, only thing was that the purple base only had defense forces, but then again the goal of the mission was to level it.
