Follow the following guide but for Warcraft 3 Reforged:
This runs Reforged under Steam's emulation layer
Unzip the Asset Pack as you would a zip file into the retail folder within the Reforged installation directory
The tricky part is finding your "home" directory where you put your custom campaigns. In one user's case (agibsonccc) the filepath was the following:
/home/agibsonccc/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/2542504305/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/Warcraft III/Campaigns
The way proton works is you have steam and then an "appid" followed by a "prefix". The appid is basically a mapping to a "game" you specify in the left side in steam. That's wine's root directory. drive_c is C: then from there the paths should be the same.
If texture issues persist after the above steps, try restarting the machine.
Launch "Wacraft III: Reforged" game
Go to “Single Player” → “Custom Campaign”

Also had issues with textures not loading on Mac version of the game and as others have said the instructions are misleading.

I'm running the game on an Intel Mac so for ARM Macs this may be a little different but probably not.

As I spent ages trying to get this to work reading the other Mac related posts here and in the end found the solution was different than what was written, I simply mirrored what the PC installer did with the files on my son's PC and finally, it worked. Here goes for others still having issues:

Make sure your game settings are set HD reforged graphics
Download the campaign file
Put campaign file into folder for campaign in MAC OS - This folder is hidden by default on the Mac. You can find it by unhiding your hidden folders (Shift - Command - . ) then going to users/username/library/application support/Blizzard/Warcraft III/Campaigns (create folder if there isn't one) and drop the campaign file in there.
Download asset pack Asset Pack. Unzip the resulting file.
Right click on the TOD_Campaign_Assets.csw file and open with Archive Utility.
Discard the outer folder called TOD_Campaign_Assets and drop the six folders inside it into the Applications/Warcraft III/Retail folder. Not the X86_64, the retail folder.
Open the terminal and enter the following exactly:
defaults write "com.blizzard.Warcraft III" "Allow Local Files" -int 1
If texture issues persist after the above steps, try restarting the machine.
Launch "Wacraft III: Reforged" game

Ok here we go.

So, as i think you are well aware, as it is quite easy to find out and i would consider it common knowledge by now, with Reforged - the new and "improved" version of the game - we now have new graphics. You can toggle between "classic" and "reforged" graphics in the option menu on the bottom left corner of the screen. Classic graphics are the old Warcraft 3 graphics we all love and use and Reforged graphics are good for a few things (this campaign for example).

Now, some maps and campaigns use exclusive graphics and some can use both. This one uses reforged graphics only, so you can only play this if you have BOUGHT reforged. Either you have not bought it (which is probably the case, considering that even with "classic" toggled on, the game would use the reforged graphics if the custom asset mandates it (asset as in maps or campaigns)) or there is another problem that I am not able to help you with.

This is the same thing i wrote in my last post, so i did actually help you, just in not so many words, and considering that the same information is plastered all over the description the map creators so generously provided for us all ( look up the * Installation Guide for Windows OS* in the description, or Linux or Mac, whichever one you have, where it says and i quote "This campaign is available for those who have purchased a copy of "Warcraft III: Reforged": Warcraft III: Reforged latest version 1.36.1"), i found it quite redundant to write more, and quite honestly mildly amusing how you have not figured out the solution yourself to your problem, and a little bit baffled, i must say, how can someone miss those crucial details.

This is the same thing i wrote in my last post, so i did actually help you, just in not so many words, and considering that the same information is plastered all over the description the map creators so generously provided for us all ( look up the * Installation Guide for Windows OS* in the description, or Linux or Mac, whichever one you have, where it says and i quote "This campaign is available for those who have purchased a copy of "Warcraft III: Reforged": Warcraft III: Reforged latest version 1.36.1"), i found it quite redundant to write more, and quite honestly mildly amusing how you have not figured out the solution yourself to your problem, and a little bit baffled, i must say, how can someone miss those crucial details.

hello ppl i m new here.I saw your masterpiece on YT and i buy WCR 3 ref. One question guys can i play this campagin on 1.36.2.21230 version ? I read above instruction and read,this mod is only for 1.36.1.Pls don t tell that i can t play this campagin.. this is my favorite storyline in Warcraft :/

Hi, I caught a bug in the 5th (Tol Barad) mission and I didn't find its mention here. After I capture the southern alliance base, there is no cut scene appearing and no moving forward. I tried to wander around, made certain that I killed every creature I could, but it didn't help. I loaded my save after capturing the northern base, went the whole path once again, but it didn't work either (I repeated this sequence twice). Some trigger just does not work.

I watched some let's play video of this mission and didn't find any difference with what I have done. Could somebody help?

Platform: MAC OS (just in case it matters).
Game version: 1.36.2.21230

can somebody help with crash during Khaz Modan mission right after crossing bridge beyond first dwarf encampment? I tried reinstalling, repair and of course restarting but it still crashes when I move camera beyond the bridge. I also tried cheat to reveal map and scroll there to see if there is some visible object but I cant see anything.

Can't play this campaign because of missing texture (all unit is white and red).

Warcraft III Reforged v1.36.1.20719​

Check the previous comments. There were detailed instructions on how to fix that missing textures. Some said you have to completely reinstall the mod.

Also, your game version seems to be outdated. Current patch is 1.36.2.

Once again, the latest update by Blizzard literally breaks everything. The original author had even updated the campaign description about graphical issues with 2.0. More specifically, custom HD model portraits being messed up due to the conflicts with the new upscaled Classic models.

We have to wait for a while until Blizzard fixed those issues. Right now, this campaign is partially playable.

Acctually , I found the problem just now , I didnt kill the dragons and started the first optional quest, that was the issue so far , havent advance more on the campaign.

Yes, I am using War3 last update. I guess it is 2.0.
I did not redo everything. But, so far, 0 issue but that crash at the end of that level.

I highly suggest installing this mod from the scratch.
You will lose the campaign progress obviously, but it's still a good option.

This has to be done by Blizzard themselves. They probably won't fix those issues sooner, so expect a lot of bugs on 2.0, especially with the Classic HD addon being enabled.

6 Stars! ...Not possible? Well I say to you, they make Warcraft 3 content better than Blizzard made Warcraft 3 content. ("at a fraction of the price" lol) Award them the coveted 6-star rating at once!

While we're at it give Lore Craft Designs a 100%, S+ and a 10/10 with a grandfather clause for ultimate everlasting badass-ness.

I'll echo what others have said: this is absolutely amazing and everyone involved in its production should be incredibly proud of themselves for what they've accomplished.

I do have one question: if updating my version after fixes, do I just need to redownload the campaign file or the assets too?

You have to redownload both campaign file and assets completely to avoid unwanted issues.
Keep in mind that latest Reforged patch is still buggy right now. It's still playable, but expect a lot of graphical problems (due to the new Classic addon on Reforged graphics).

If this campaign and its assets are installed, the "Red Dragon Roost" becomes an invisible building in vanilla melee maps with Classic Graphics (v1.36.2 - before v2.0). It does not happen with Reforged Graphics. Screenshot below.

NOTES:

- I traced this back to the fact that you have local assets (I also noticed that your installer enables the "Allow Local Files" via the registry). The issue is with this asset: "retail\Buildings\Other\dragonbuilding".

- If this folder is deleted or the "Allow Local Files" is disabled via the registry, everything is fine again. This is 100% reproducible - just host a melee map in the vanilla "Dragon Mountain" map with "Always Visible" map option turned on and check the middle of the map. Your assets cause this problem.

If you can, please fix this issue. It is really annoying to have to constantly delete the folder to play standard melee maps.

Your problem sounds like a strange. I believe that assets (Red Dragon Roost) with the same file path name as you mentioned here will most likely override the original ones for both SD and HD modes during the installation.

Also, why are you using 1.36.2 and not 2.0.0?

Also, I believe the problem with Red Dragon Roost building isn't only persist in the "Dragon Mountain" map, but on the other vanilla melee maps where Red Dragon Roost building is present. One Undead mission in vanilla campaign, where you have to destroy all Orc bases, has a bugged Red Dragon Roost, iirc.

Also, I have sequestered an installation of 1.36.2 in an offline VM to maintain the version before updating to 2.0. I play there offline.

Very weird problems, then. I believe certain game assets can be bugged on melee maps if you have installed mods.

Obviously, if you try to play SP melee maps as Orc with CSW on Classic graphics, it doesn't really work because you will get lots of invisible models and green icons. However, this doesn't occur on other races (you are playing as Night Elves for that case).

I'm pretty sure your 1.36.2 copy is not a legit one, considering the fact you're running on VM. Hive doesn't even support piracy. There's really no way for this game to be fully playable offline. You'll always be logged in at least once for every months through Battle.net, which obviously auto-updates your client to 2.0, which is still buggy right now.

Of course it is legit. Try launching v1.36.2 without internet and see for yourself. It may stop working at some point due to it needing to log in again, but until then, v2.0 might get fleshed out enough.
I have it in a VM, because I saved that version before the infamous v2.0 update. I knew that Battle-Net auto-updates - hence my move into an offline environment.

Now that we got through the suspicions and the detective-work, can we get to the issue at hand, which is clearly a need-fix?

Red Dragon Roost in Classic Graphics needs a fix. Conflicting with CSW local files in "retail\Buildings\Other\dragonbuilding"
