i used tot think texturing was too hard to even try, the real trick to it is finding out all the tools, and what they do, once you know that it's pretty easy from there, you'd just have to try to copy textures to practice, it's all practice. so read a few things on the tools, you'll get there. for practice you can try to edit skins or use a reference and try to copy it the exact same as you can.
 
All my other models I make, are my own concepts.

Hmm.. you mean this one?
it is as nice as it can be, but to be honest, it isn't very impressive. Even though modeling on top of a reference teaches you some about proportion and shapes, it is sometimes obvious that your models lack the whole "3-D"-part of 3d modeling.
Instead of keeping the reference directly below and extrude on top of it, i'd recommend you to inspect the image first, and determine what basic shapes it consists of.
Sometimes starting of with a cylinder (or other primitive) is much easier than with a box.
Actually, i myself have never done a model on top of an image like that. And they can still look accurate.

i hope you don't feel insulted or anything, with my rude tune and all, i just think you would (be forced to!) learn faster by skipping the reference.

As a side note, i do think your bow model is nice from a modeling perspective. it has very nice shape and is low poly enough. :)

Lol you talk bull shit, none of my models were made with extrude and all have 3 dimensional sides, if you talk about my HALO guns, then your right, they were all flat, but that were my first attachments.
And those pictures aren't all of my models, I have double much more, but I'm to lazy to screenshot them.
BTW
You base your models on pictures, too lol.
And for attachment models it 'Snormal to use a picture as a preference, even Happy Tauren teaches that in his tutorial.
That's the way of attachment modelling in Milkshape 3D.
All other models I do without pictures, for example the Dead Space Helmet, or the catapult.
Or all my Age of Empires buildings.
 
Hmm.. Indeed, i haven't seen all your models yet, and ofcourse, everyone evolves over time in the terms of modeling, so i'm sorry if i stirred you up there. What i was refering to was the method of importing an image into your modeling program and use it as a background to model upon, and no, i don't use that for any of my models. I keep the image open beside and look at it for reference instead.
On the other hand, i have never modeled in milkshape (my drivers won't support it for some reason) and i dunno what's custom there. Still, if you don't do it, you don't have to worry about my comment.
