Chat new feature idea

Hey i was thinking at a new chat room feature

guess what... when moving the mouse over a user's name, to show his avatar fading in... and when the mouse is removed from the position of the name, the avatar fades out...
Nice idea?

I agree with Pyritie. It's pointless. Maybe it wouldn't be that pointless if you also displayed some info about the guy. But if you want to see his avatar, just click on his name.

Yes, but I don't think it's needed when you can view all that stuff by clicking on him in the user list.

Also, make the text in chat can be coloured (I join other forum that have system like Hive but not map modding, and they have colour to the text)

How, pray tell, would it be helpful?
You can find all information you need about the user by clicking his chat avatar, so there's really nothing gained by spending the time to implement your suggested feature.

No and no. There's no way I ever want to see colored text, and I don't really want to see all colored names since it's supposed to be something special.

Besides, if a user wants to know something about another user, he simply can right-click on his icon in the userlist, go for 'Open link in a new windoww/tab' and.. yeah, that's it

That would be pretty pointless.

One feature that would be nice is to have the option to turn off the agreement page whenever you try to go in the chat.

I don't think I need to be reminded everytime I go into chat just what the rules are.

You can click on the icons in the user list to open a new tab to the user profile. You don't need all that information in the chat.

All the links in the chat open in a new tab/window, if I am not mistaken.

Yes i know, i tried to click in both, user list and chat but it does nothing for me!
And when i right-click them the option Open Link should be written with black but it is written for me with gray so this function somehow doesn't works for me...

Whilst the chat is fine as it is, it could do with being more aesthetically pleasing. It's not a necessity, but the chat certainly isn't too complex.

I agree that eventually we should work on more aesthetically pleasing themes, but adding unnecessary links certainly isn't going to help. Besides, you can get all of the information suggested in this thread just from clicking the icon next to the user's name in the user list.

Yeah, this is pointless. Coored text and names would be for those who contribute $20 to the hive. This means, PAYING RALLE. Those sort of things are not that special as it only makes it mor anoying when someone keeps typing and there's a bunch of colors. Besides, the colored text would probably go with the name stuff and most of us would never get to use it because we don't want to have to pay. i think the chat is fine the way it is. And it isn't all that important. It's not like we're going to die if we don't have it.

It's actually Ctrl+Click, at least in Firefox. Shift+Click is in a new window.

This is the argument I hate. It's essentially saying "no, I don't want to make things easier because that would make me seem lazy". WTF?

It's just a waste of space, and I assume with all the constant messaging "traffic" it would be quite heavily lagging, opening all those "info tabs". It's not all that hard to just click on the link. It would probably even save you time in the long run, if my assumptions are correct.

Middle click works too. Anyhow, clicking the link is fine, and I imagine that having the scroll-over info panel thing would be rather spammy and annoying at best, potentially laggy at worst.
