Can't replace model

Hi all, hope this is the right place to ask. So I downloaded the HD SC2 lich model and got one mdx file and one blp file. I did the thing you need to do in the registry to allow local files, I changed the mdx's name to HeroLich and put the file in the Warcraft 3 dir in units/undead/herolich per the instructions here but the model won't change.

Now I wanted to see if my directory path and registry changes were right so I downloaded the Warcraft 3 rebirth mod, which changes the models, and put the HeroLich file that came with the mod in the same units/ undead etc. directory, and it worked, meaning the path and the registry changes I did are both correct

Did another test, this time with the HD Paladin and the dreadlord and both just won't show at all
