Cant access hive

Ever since hive went down yesterday I cannot access it on my computer. It just loads as timeout and connection failed when ever I try to access the site, iv added it to my hostfile and stuff and that still dont work...anyone got any hints? Im sure its on my side, something with my computer only. iv tried to clean my cache etc and restart firefox and other browsers and it still dont work.

this thing happens to me too, but after 5-10 minutes i can acces Hive again; is pretty annoying
what browser are you using?

Yeah, I also get that error message sometimes. It's a real pain when that happens while I'm posting or replying something.

I think this only happens when the site's WAY too busy, or experiencing technical problems...

Same problem here. It usually lasts an hour or so and then suddenly I can access it again.

It's not my connection because I can access deviantART just fine during those times.

I have much the same problem. It hasn't happened recently though, and other users cannot access the site when I can't either.

My experience with this is that i varies from ISP to ISP. My best guess is that it is due to an flaw in the way the dynamic dns is setup or works. I never experienced this from home but at school i have this problem all the time.

I tried firefox and opera, they wont access hive.. i still cant access it from my computer.

It's most likely due to the fact the site is using dynamic DNS. Whenever the site switches to a new IP address, there is about a 1-minute delay before the DNS record's TTL expires and everyone is able to see the new IP address.

I'm quite sure that the site has a static IP so this wouldn't be happening

we have a "static" IP. We are paying 8 $ to get as static an IP as you can. The thing is that if the ISP's ISP crashes, I will get a new IP. So silly. They cannot promise anything.....
Anyway, it's not because of the server being busy, it's the DNS of your ISP that is slow.

ISP's update their DNS servers with different intervals. Some doesn't update very often.

Hmm, I'm having this problems too. I don't see much trouble of it in Chat, but when I (ex.) go to a section it says it is too busy and such and then I have to refresh. Fortunatly I don't see those 5-10 minuters.
