Can users create their own contests?

I was wondering if regular users can start their own contests? If they cannot I think they should be able to, do you agree? Please give your opinion or answer.

Users can suggest ideas for site hosted contests, and if agreeable become the 'host' for that contest. Please be sure to follow the format included in the correct sub-forum of the arena.

As to hosting personal contests, that are not supported/rewarded by the site, feel free to give it a try. As long as you remain within the site rules, it's fine. You'll have a hard time getting enough people without adequate rewards I imagine though.

Thx! I guess I could try it as an experiment and see what comes out of it. I want to make a contest on some type of campaign, because there aren't many on the site, and I'm not sure if there's an open contest for campaigns right now, we'll see though, I'd certainly like to see a public showcase for campaigns. Anyway thanks hawk you helped a lot!

Campaign = crap contest focus. The duration would have be like one year. Contests are meant to be for relatively quick things like spells, minimaps, models etc...

Anyway, a mod closed it due to some bad experiences of user-hosted contests, but I doubt the Hive has this rule.

Where do we post for our own contests? I don't think we post in the Arena or anything right?

why wouldn't a campaign be good? all the tests are reasonably lengthed... Campaign could be 4 maps required (Atleast 1 Cinematic Map, W.e others)

There's a sub-forum in the Arena where you can submit ideas called "Contest Submissions." What you post there wont necessarily be accepted though.

We've hosted several of those and another similar contest. I don't recall complete submissions.

I've tried to post an idea for a joke campaign contest, it wasn't too well done as I wasn't sure exactly what I was supposed to write. Anyway, it didn't get very positive feedback... Anyway, they mostly said I needed to clean up my post and also that it would take too long to make. Well cheers to all of you, may your contest ideas work better than mine.

then the one with greatest votes after a month i will host as a user hosted contest.

Somehow I think you'll have to have a greater reputation on the site (not like the gems, rather how many people actually know you) before you'll be allowed (not by the mods, but by the general public) to host a contest yourself.

I recommend you just make a submission. If it's a bad contest idea then nobody will join, if it's a good one it will likely be accepted as a submission.

I norite. But I'm saying you could turn a challenge into a contest. The winner gets all rep in the contests... right D:
That's what I mean... The losers will lose 5 rep each and you get 25 rep and the 5 rep you put at stake. Unless you don't get rewarded for your own rep so than it'd be 25 rep.

Rewarding rep as a user is not allowed. Rep is meant to be something you don't talk about but give when you see fit unless it is an official contest.

Well, you can't give rep or award icons. But you could do prizes such as "free loading screen" or "free attachment model" or something like that I guess.
