I like the idea, but the execution isn't that good. If I'd be you, I would show the end of the tail. I see you tried to make a scale, I suggest you define it more and make it bigger with some different color tones, maybe with a slight reflection on it. And make scales in the shape of a letter U and cower one after another.
And is that red thing around the tail a glow? It looks to solid, make it more transparent and extend it around like a bit stronger tone near the tail and then slightly fading out.
I see potential in this one, it just needs some more work
