Do you use tablet? Wow it looks awesome!
I guess so!This is likely a matter of preference though.
The large image looks great, but that's way too big of an image to downscale into an icon, so much detail is lost. It's better to draw something around 512x512 and then downscale that to an icon. The larger your original image is, the smaller your details will be when downscaled. Look at the hair in the icon; you can't even tell it's hair at all by the time it's been shrunk down to the size of an icon because you drew the lines so thin that the details no longer even exist when downscaled to such a small size.
If you are going to use a large image, then you should at least try to avoid using too small of a brush size. When you're using a brush that's 2 pixels thick and downscale a 1900p image into a 64p image, that brush is essentially reduced to 1/15th of a pixel in width, which loses the details made with it.
Try to remember that your goal is to make an icon, not a wallpaper. You aren't going for realism; the original could look cartoony as fk and still look realistic by the time it's downscaled to the size of an icon as long as the shading and details are done properly; it's the strength and accuracy of the details present rather than the quantity and depth of the detail that matters.
It still looks good enough for a 4/5.
