The shape looks really wrong. The sword is huge, the handle is huge, doesn't look like a sword. Shading is poor, you should add alot of highlights and shadows.
i see no cutlass. You have to define the sword more than the gas. or else we wont see any sword. just a blurr.
Also, try to add a lot more shading along the edges of the blade and the hilt to pop it out a bit more. Highlights would definatly help this icon as well.
The gas looks good, but i think it should be placed within the BG instead of above the main idea. It really distracts from the main idea.
