How many people out there like to Boff (i like to refere to it as Boffer or Boffering, please dont kill me if your extremely avid about using the term Boff).

For those of your who dont know what Boffering is, its basicly when you have a fight using weapons of a non-lethal nature. In otherwords, PVC piping covered in piping foam and duct tape to resemble swords and other weapons.

I have had plenty people bash on me for doing such things, saying its wimpy or sounds like kids stuff. but they arent fluffy padding and people hit you hard. i am a big guy and can take a lot of punishment, but some of these battles can be intense and can actually hurt. i personally enjoy that part, its part of the whole experience. so please dont bash post to bash, but to discuss.

So who else in these forums boffers?

If you get a chance i suggest trying it out. Its very cheap, for $5-$7, not including the cost of duct tape. you can make yourself 2-3 nice sized swords. Altough i do better with a longer weapon, right now i am using either a longsword, or a Naginata. but i prefere to Naginata.

If anyone is interested i can come up with a tutorial for making boffer, its very easy and straightforward, i could easily just explain it.

But there are rules for combat i highly suggest following, otherwise injuries are more likely to happen... such as one i experienced a few years back, taking a padded arrow to the crotch is not fun. however, getting smacked in the eye was surprisingly fun. prolly because i wasnt on the ground, and could continue fighting. lol

Its not the first time i have gotten a comment like that. But luckily when they are said in person, i actually find someone willing to let me put thier foot into thier mouth. Taking someone out within 2 seconds of the match starting, never gets old.

Look ridiculous? lol? It is because I play a nice game and that I have fun that I look ridiculous? I would say that you are a sheeple that need the point of view of other to choose what is ridiculous and what is "cool". I like my game cause I play it with my friend, I have fun with my friend, and the game is well done and everyone there is nice with each othe. So, on my point of view, it's not me but you who is looking ridiculous...

lol, it's your choice but still there are person that like this, me by exemple, and if you can't respect this then it's your opinion, and I accept it as long as you don't insult me or my friends that are playing a game they like.

And it's nothing else than a good Role Play Game. Nothing to have with only hitting someone for the "fun" of hitting (if you know what I mean...).

And I'd like to excuse me to Zacherygangrel cause this is not the real subject of his post...

No apology needed, i am happy that thread has been kept alive personally lol. I enjoy reading everyones opinion, regardless to how different they are to mine. everyone is allowed to think whatever they want, but as said before. just dont insult me, or my friends.

Actually you would be surprised at what kind of people boffer Afro. 3 of the members of my group are football players at the local college.

Actually... i have never seen a stereotypical geek boffer.(tall, lanky and carrying of pens) Most the people i have boffered with are in great shape, and if you get the chance to boffer with us, you will find out that you have to be. Its very good Aerobic work, and after doing it for years, i still find myself short of breath now and then.
