yea, but dont dont forget Jass class never got past part 3

I suspect that it was because many GUIers were disappointed in the direction the class was taking.

I attended to learn JASS in order to expand my very basic JASS knowledge. And guess what? local/global variables, functions, arguments, return all those basic things wasn't even in the assignment!

instead they were taking up binary stuff, operators and basic math rules like operator priority (* and / before + and - etc), I only have a very vague memory of what it actually contained.

The reason given was that they wanted the class to help you in other programming languages as well, which I think was the wrong call since most people only want to learn JASS specifically.

Besides, in order to provide a teaching service, there'd have to be a teacher.
There'd be no use opening such a sub-forum if there wasn't willing teachers
in more than two categories.

Not to mention that improving your skills in the various areas is kind of the
point of both challenges and contests.

My plan with the JASS class was that somebody assembled a curriculum, not wrote the content. It could be a simple list of things to read/watch each week that would contain a few exercises. A path that would allow people to learn things in a specific order. If done properly, people would know exactly what to do to learn JASS. There would of course be need to ask questions, but that is it. I guess this is more or less a list of tutorials, but I still think it's a cool idea.

I suppose we could have a forum for different curriculums, but we would need some good ones.

Anyone who want to make something similar for their respective area of expertise
should certainly do so, and you are more than welcome to follow the same form.
There really should be something like this in all the modding sections, but as I
previously stated: I see no reason why we'd need a new sub-forum for it, we could
and should reserve them for their respective section.

Suffice to say, if you'd like to write something up, and it gets good, then there is a
high chance it will be stickied in it's respective section with your name on it.
- That might be some incentive, eh? :)

Classes have always been an instance of an idea that sounds/looks nice in theory, but in practice almost never works and usually falls apart after 2 or 3 lessons. It's an idea that has been thrown arround multiple times, but I've never seen an instance of a successful class.

You need a willing, active teacher and willing, active students that are committed to it, who are willing to abide by rules and deadlines.

Essentially, tutorials, plus the sub-forums relevant to the topic should be more than enough for 99.999% of individuals. If there's an issue and you're stuck, some critical thinking skills may be necessary and a thread for that specific issue may be needed. Those are things that a class can't always provide.

reason why this is a not so good idea? - people come here because they do not want to study their homework, so if they dont want to learn something in real life what makes you think they would want to learn something here hahaha , besides this most people who join here either quit after 2 weeks or stay to become trolls or rep whores or just inactive also proving grounds is meh we should call it garrison or something
