Hi everybody, :goblin_yeah:

since this forum seems more active to me than the sc2mapster's I am
going to show my models here on the hive, too.

I'm currently working on a balrog model for lotr-maps =)

These are some impressions of the low-poly mesh and the first sculpting layer
which will be used for normal mapping etc. I will be going deeper into detail
with this model as soon as I got a working .m3-version. But the current level
of detail should be perfectly right for the starcraft engine.

I have never finished a fully working unit for any game so far, so this is my
first serious attempt to change that  Animating and rigging will take
some time I think...

So here's my first attempt on painting a model without using
any photographs or other external ressources. I used Mudbox
to paint and sculpt it. There are two or three errors in the
uv map I know, but they will be corrected when postediting the
texture in photoshop. Plus they are not too important in SC2...

Enjoy =)

I like the model, but I think that he should have either more contrast, or lighter textures (at certain parts), to make him look better when you add the fire (but maybe that's just me) :) And also the hoofs on the back are strange to me. Either way awesome work, but I get the feeling it's not finished ;)

Not not finished at all^^ As I said my first "hand" painting. But for today I will leave it as it is ;) Yeah I agree about brightness and contrast, but that has to be adjusted when I am going to test the fire etc. And maybe some emissive map? never used that, we'll see. There is always much to learn :D

Now that I look form another monitor at it I see what you mean
with your contrast suggestion. I think I have to recalibrate my own
one^^
